Christopher

Charles shut the door behind me and we settled down in my office.

"What is this?"

Matthieu was always one to get himself entangled in trouble but not something this huge.

"A private investigator in France sent this to me. Mr Laurent was involved with a drug organization. His manager at the modelling agency was able to clear his name so even when the names of the others were released to the public after investigation, his wasn't."

"Apparently, the higher-ups weren't so pleased with the fact that their people's names got exposed and not Mr Laurent's."

"So they went after him." I finished up the sentence, still rummaging through the pictures in shock.

"They didn't just go after him, Sir, they went after everyone he was connected to. When they tried to bring his name to light, they failed. His agency kept covering up for him since he was their biggest model and most important labour asset."

"The organization eventually began going after the people he was connected to. There'

Allison He wasn't sleeping next to me when I woke up.He never did until we returned from Seychelles but last night, Christopher had not slept in this room.He hadn't gone to see his daughter, he was still here.I thought about last night.Had he regretted beating up Jeffrey?Did he think he killed him?Or did he think something about Jeffery's death was strange- just like me?He had reacted strangely to me description of the person I bumped into on my way to Jeffery's ward. Why?He hadn't even met them in person. All it took for him to look like he had seen death's eyes, was the description of the person's eyes. When I mentioned that they were blue, Christopher had looked like he had seen a ghost. But why? There were millions of people with that eye color. Why on earth did it bother him that one person had that eye color. The door clicked open and Christopher stepped in, distracting me from my thoughts. For a long moment, he didn't speak- neither of us spoke. He just stood there, st

Christopher I hadn't slept.I couldn't.Not after Allison's revelation.Blue eyes- like light trapped in ice.I shook my head, dismissing the thought as I drank water. There was absolutely no way she could be alive. She was dead. She had died in my own arms, before my very eyes."It was probably just a coincidence." I repeated these words every second of the night yet, I couldn't bring myself to believe it.There was no way it was her- because she was dead. There were millions of people with the same color of eyes- it could have been a total stranger. So why was I still so bothered?I was pouring myself another glass of water- my seventh glass this morning- when Charles walked in, carrying a brown envelope in his hand."Good morning, Sir."He handed the envelope over to me, "Autopsy results for Mr Laurent, Mrs Jacobs' bodyguards and the phone found at the dump place."The first report I checked was Allison's bodyguards' even though I didn't really need to.As expected, it was an utte

Allison "Tell them we'll handle any damages privately. No statements." I heard Christopher's voice as he spoke to Charles. When I walked into Christopher's home office, they both looked at me like I should be on a hospital bed and not in the room."I thought you'd be asleep." Christopher straightened on his seat."I found out you had a daughter today. I watched you go animalistic and almost kill a man, today. I watched a man die, today. I got arrested, today."There was no way I could just fall into a peaceful sleep after going through so many emotions and physical discomfort in just one day.He looked like I had just punched him with my words.Well, he had stabbed me with his betrayal."Fine then.""Sit."He pointed to the empty seat across from his.I took it while Charles remained standing- as always. He didn't speak immediately. He just looked at me, like he was trying so hard to control a thousand versions of himself all at once."You were at the hospital before he died.""What

Christopher I called the Spa and the dress shop to make sure Allison had actually showed up.Surprisingly, she did show.Bonus point, she didn't cause a scene."Has she complained about Liam?" I asked Charles as we drove into my estate."Not yet, Sir. But I doubt she's comfortable having him around." He was still bothered by Liam."As long as she's not complaining, she's comfortable. If there's one thing I know about Allison, it's that she's very vocal about her beliefs, likes and dislikes. So if she's not worried then you shouldn't be."Charles didn't speak on the matter any further even though he obviously didn't agree with me.When he had parked the car, I got out and walked into the mansion. As expected, my daughter was already waiting for me at the door."Daddy!" She ran toward me with her tiny arms stretched out for a hug.I scooped her in my arms and spun around, enjoying the way she giggled."Someone's really happy." I kissed her cheek as I made my way to the kitchen."I had

  • Hired Wife   CHAPTER 63

Allison I mindlessly walked to the reception and sat there. I was too numb to even think. He was fine. I was so sure of it. I had seen him- maybe from a distance but I had seen him and he was doing well, recovering. So what the hell could have happened to him? "Mrs Jacobs?" I was too far in my thoughts to even notice anyone people moving around me until I heard someone call my name behind me. I looked up and saw a police officer stating down at me. Actually, two police officers. Slowly, I stood up, "Yes?" "You'll need to come with us." There was a particular certainty to his tone that didn't sit right with me. "What?" I frowned. What the hell did the police want with me? "You do not have to panic, Mrs Jacobs. We just want to ask you a few questions." His eyes dropped to my skirt where Christopher had smeared the stranger's blood when he hauled me over his shoulder back at the club. I looked down and internally cussed at the blood stain. "Please cooperate." The second o
