~ADRIAN~

My teeth gnashed against each other in anguish as I stared at the portrait of her hanging on the wall in my chamber. The one who was at the center of my heart — Adriana. She was the bane of my existence. But the cold hands of death snatched her away from me alongside our pup during her childbirth.

Their death dealt me a heavy blow, especially hers. It was a wonder how I survived till now. But one thing was sure, I wasn't the same loving and peaceful Alpha Adrian from years back.

I had grown more ruthless by the day and even chased away all my fellow Alpha friends. Life made no sense to me again, and my loins had not stirred from the time I lost her until last night.

My beta, Dexter dragged me to some annual party at the outskirts of the pack, with an excuse for me to loosen up. Yeah, I did. I soaked myself in several drinks and became drunk.

That was why I couldn't hold it in when that slut came and started grinding herself against me. My mind was blurred to what happened after that, but I was alarmed and ashamed of myself when I woke up to see her lying beside me.

"I'm sorry, Adriana. No one will ever take your place, baby." I cried in a low voice as my hands grazed the glossy portrait of her.

My heart ached for her every day, driving me nuts and to the edge with each passing day.

But I still try my damnedest to keep myself from completely going feral for the purpose of my pack. I wouldn't want them to think I was incapable of leading them anymore.

The soft knock on the door snapped me out of my reverie. I turned just in time to see Dexter stepping in and bowing his head in respect.

"Alpha..." He called out.

The anger of what happened last night and his part in it came rushing through me. I growled, making him raise his head sharply.

He tried to hold my gaze but failed after three seconds.

"I'm sorry about last night. I didn't mean to leave you alone while you were drunk." He apologized, stepping back with fear as I advanced slowly towards him.

"You think it's just about leaving me alone? It's mostly about pushing me into attending the fucking party in the first place." I snarled.

He raised his hands in apology. "My apologies, Alpha. It will never happen again." I sighed and turned my back on him.

"Do you want me to find the whore and get her punished?" He offered and I threw him a glance over my shoulder.

"No need. I don't fucking want to set my eyes on her again." I said with a note of finality.

He nodded. "Okay, Alpha..." Just then there was a soft knock, which directed our attention to the door.

The door opened and one of my guards walked in.

"Alpha, the priestess is here. She demands your presence in the consulting room." He finished, his head still bowed.

"Alright. Tell her I will join her soon." He nodded and left the room.

My brows furrowed in confusion as Dexter and I walked out of the room. What could be the reason for this sudden visit?

"Have you noticed anything unusual around the pack?" I asked as we both fell into steps walking down the large hallway.

He shook his head solemnly. "No, Alpha."

"Very well then."

We parted ways at the door of the consulting room. He took the opposite direction while I twisted the doorknob, ushering myself into the large and spacious consulting room. A place where I handled serious business and meetings.

"To what do I owe this August visit, priestess Amelia?" The silver-haired lady had her back turned facing the window, dressed in her signature white flowing gown and a staff in hand.

"A lovely morning to you, Alpha Adrian. I hope you rose well?" She said, finally turning to meet my gaze.

"Sure did. A lovely morning to you as well."

"I'm just here to deliver a simple message. I won't take much of your time."

"Good." I nodded because that luxury of time was what I didn't have.

"The girl you laid with last night and threw out this morning..." My voice trailed off, just as my eyes widened in utmost shock.

How the hell did she know I was with someone last night? Then, the realization hit me. She was a fucking priestess. Information was at her beck and call.

But she hadn't finished, so I stared at her expectantly. I had a feeling that whatever it was, I might not be comfortable with it.

"She's the woman the goddess has chosen to carry your pup — the future Alpha of Moon Crescent pack. FIND HER!"

Another shocking news rolling off her lips in a span of seconds. What the hell was she talking about? Find who?

"You are confusing me, goddess. You mean the whore that shamelessly seduced me and sneaked into my bed is the one the goddess has chosen to carry my pup?"

Priestess Amelia chuckled softly. "She isn't the whore, and she didn't sneak into your bed, you invited her in. So, find her wherever she was and begin the process of the birth of our future Alpha. Do have a nice day, Adrian." She finished and sidestepped me, making her way towards the exit door.

How possible was it that he was the one who invited her to his bed? And what the hell did she mean by find her?

The doorknob clicked and my senses returned. "How do I go about doing that? Can the goddess at least tell me where to find her?"

She gave me a side smile. "She wants you to figure it out yourself." She said with a note of finality before totally exiting the consulting room, after throwing me into a web of confusion.

"She isn't the whore..." What did she mean by that? What better tag would be given to a lady who goes around seducing men shamelessly? A whore, a slut. Hell, a harlot.

I gnashed my teeth in anger. It pained me that my son died along with his mother. If he hadn't, I would have had an Alpha to replace me when I was gone. In other words, I wouldn't have to carry on with this disturbing instruction from the moon goddess.

The doorknob clicked again and my eyes flew to the door, hoping it was the priestess coming back to tell me she was just messing around with me. I was a tad disappointed when I found out it was Dexter.

"The priestess rarely visits the Alpha's mansion. I hope all is well, Alpha?" I allowed my gaze to rest on him. A look of concern was etched on his face.

"She came to give me a shocking news." I said, staring outside the window.

"What news, Alpha?"

I scoffed. "I'm yet to wrap my head around it. Returning my gaze to him, I said, "Find that shameless whore. You and the warriors should search the neighboring packs."

"As you wish, Alpha."

Dexter bowed in respect and left the room. With his exit, I focused my attention on the thought of how incredibly ridiculous this news was.

~ARIA~ Cora texted me that she was already home by the time I finished at the Eatery. I had to stay back and get done with my meal. While the Alpha could graciously leave his meal halfway, I couldn't because I didn't like wasting resources, much more food. I got over the butterflies in my stomach, because its inventor wasn't around at the moment. His final words, "Better get ready for me tonight." Stayed with me till I left the eatery with shaky legs. Sure I would. But the thought of what he would do to me brought back the butterflies that had hitherto deserted my stomach. Great! I stepped out of the Eatery, glancing around as the friendly air blew in my direction. They weren't friendly to my sensitive body, thereby making me feel a little cold. All because the Alpha's words couldn't leave my ears. "Girl! Where are you?" Cora's voice literally rang from the other end, as soon as my call went through. "I'm still in front of the Eatery. Any direction as to how I can find my

~ARIA~"Don't pop champagne just yet, princess. The battle had just begun. I will have him back no matter what." I analyzed, halfway through our meal. That was one of the couple of statements Harriett made during our squabble earlier today. The one that struck a nerve. Now, it all made sense. Obviously, Harriett had already made plans to use her position as the heiress to bring Alpha Adrian to her bosom again. So, that was what was inflating her ego? Her father's money. From what I heard from Alpha Adrian, he had been chasing that contract for a while now.It seemed to me that the partnership wouldn't have been awarded if Harriett hadn't gotten involved. Wow! How convenient.Still looking as shell-shocked as they came, I guarded my gaze— which unknowingly strayed, along with my thoughts— back to Alpha Adrian. His eyes were slightly narrowed at me, as his hands held the wine glass close to his lips.I schooled my expression back to normalcy as I held his gaze. I was curious to know

  • His Breeder, His Second Chance Mate   Chapter 38 His Striping Gaze.

~ARIA~ With several measured breaths, I found myself padding through the door of the eatery, my heart pounding in anticipation. Cora left immediately after we got here, but not before tilting a knowing gaze at me as well as a smile that indicated she could see through my already frayed nerves. "Call you later," she had tossed over her shoulder before setting off to cross the slightly busy road back to the pack's market. Now, I was standing by the door, glancing around and sniffing to find his scent. I didn't need to sniff further because his overwhelming pinewood scent filled my nose as my gaze rested on him. Well, he had already seen me because his eyes were already making me feel as though I was naked and at his service. Damn! Talk about a striping gaze. More than anything, I wished Cora was here, so she could witness this torturing gaze and tell me if he wasn't feeling the same way I was. Even if he hadn't said anything in that regard, I found confidence in that gaze he was sh

  • His Breeder, His Second Chance Mate   Chapter 37 "Perfect Watermelon."

~ARIA~Cora hit the watermelon repeatedly, scrunching her face in dissatisfaction. "It isn't ripe."We had finished buying everything on the list her mum gave her and now we were roaming the entire market all over again, looking for the watermelon that suited Cora's taste. I couldn't help chuckling at her contorted face."Let's check the store down there," she muttered, dragging me along immediately as though sensing I was about to protest. Thank Goddess I was wearing low-heeled sandals and not a high one. Goddess knew I would be literally dragging Cora away right now."Why don't you just pick one already?" Despite being in comfortable footwear, I wasn't ready to roam the market a second time because of the watermelon.Cora turned sharply, giving me a quizzical look. The kind that screamed, "Are you really saying that right now?"I could interpret all of Cora's looks, the same way she could interpret mine. "Did you by any chance conveniently forget that watermelon is my favorite fru

  • His Breeder, His Second Chance Mate   Chapter 36 No Partnership...

~ADRIAN~Hardly had I flopped myself on my comfy upholstered office chair behind my mahogany desk when a soft knock sounded on the door. I knew who it was even without asking. "Come in." I also knew he wouldn't step foot into the office without my permission, despite being my managing director and Beta. He accorded me respect that much without having me spell it out for him. I barely finished the last word when he slightly pushed the door open and sauntered in. I kept my gaze focused on my large shelf that was located in the right corner of my large office. He crossed the distance between the door and my desk and settled on the office chair across from mine. I could feel his gaze on me, but he dared not speak till I had urged him to."You can say what you want to say, Dex." My gaze drifted to the mural of my wolf beside the shelf. I usually looked at it whenever I was losing myself to pressure and to remind myself of who I was. Being an Alpha of one of the strongest packs and a CEO

  • His Breeder, His Second Chance Mate   Chapter 35 Backing Out...

~ADRIAN~I looked on from Dexter to the rest of the Dell company representatives whose faces I was familiar with. I had met them during the early phase of the contract deal. But why hadn't I met Harriett?Scratch that! Why didn't I know that she was the daughter of Lucas Dell? Fair enough, I knew that she was from a wealthy family, but I never met them. I was getting around to doing that when I met my mate, Adrianna. Now, she was standing right in front of me, staring at me with a smirk that mirrored just how much she enjoyed fooling me. Not only that. There was a triumphant look on her face that screamed, 'I already had you where I wanted you.'Signing the deal of partnership meant working with her. And from the terms of the contract, their party would have a higher say since they were the one in charge of the production of the laptops that would be registered as my company's production.I wanted my company to expand in tech production, which was why I decided to include the producti
