Mag-log inThe journey spanned about three days, and I slept most of it away.
For some reason, as hard as his body looked, it was really comfortable and despite his grunts and mutters of complaints, he kept me steady so that I didn't fall. At some point I feared we were going off the edge of the planet or something as every time I opened my eyes, it was just another view of forests, plain landscapes, or deep snow that the wolves struggled to run through. I barely saw them anyway, my new master was ahead of everyone and thundered through everything aggressively. It was in the snow that I realised why he'd insisted on my having his coat. I would have frozen to death in my father's coat. When I saw the spread of brick houses that spanned as far as my eyes could see, I thought we were stopping by a large market, one of the ones the Beta and Delta families usually went to trade for the Pack and came back with high tales. But as we got closer, I saw an inscription across a haphazardly constructed gate that did almost nothing to keep anyone out. Iron Claw Pack. Several human skulls hung by the side, sending shivers down my spine but I focused on the gate, nowhere else to avoid a scream escaping my throat. Before it could click in my head, a loud noise erupted from the middle of the Pack and along with the noise came people rushing towards the entrance, all yelling and cheering Alpha! Alpha! Alpha! I was stunned. The broody, rude and beastly male suddenly began smiling, waving at his people and slowing down to touch the cheeks of babies. What the actual hell? Everyone acted like there was a little bunny in front of their Alpha, sending me weird smiles that only lasted half a second before shifting back to him. No hostilities, just mild interest. Maybe he'd said something to them in the mind link and being the beast that he is, they all obeyed. I could see it, underneath all that excitement, they feared him too. Just like knowing a sword could cut you in half but you are happy to be in possession of it and not be at the sharp end of it. The Pack was beautiful, large and nothing like the Greyhound Pack. Their buildings were taller, they had more than two Pack houses as we had, I counted four before the horse cornered to the left of a paved street and I saw a duplex that I assumed belonged to the Alpha due to the three heads of beasts that were mounted in front of it. He led the horse to a pen around back and jumped down and then used one hand to drop me on the ground. “Gertrude!” His voice boomed while he walked out. I raced after his very long strides, anger, fear and tiredness warring in my chest. “Alpha, you're welcome!” An older woman ran out of the house, an Apron tied around her and flour dust on her hands. “Take this woman to my room.” “Your room?” I asked before I could stop myself. He turned around, looking at me as though saying ‘Are you really asking me such a stupid question?’ “How do you plan on doing your job from another room, woman?” “My.. my job?” He folded his hand across his chest and levelled me with a furrowed eyebrow. “Yes. Or have you forgotten why you're here? I don't remember telling your father I needed a new Pack member. He threw you at me for a job. One which requires you to be in my room, so get going.” “But… but do we have to start… tonight?” He sighed and walked away, irritated. I followed him, my steps shaky from fear. “This way child,” the lady called for me. That redirected my steps towards the door with the small bundle I'd travelled with. The Beast went out, and we went inside. *** After being washed clean, yes, she insisted on bathing me herself despite my protests, I was wrapped in a sheer nightdress that made me feel… sexy. I hated that. Hated that I was being prepared like an object for the palatable consumption of someone so beastly and horrendous. He might be beautiful and manly in a way that made zero sense considering how much death he caused, but I couldn't see past the fact that he agreed to this. That tonight he'll take my virginity no matter how much I cry and put his beastly seed inside me and I'll be nothing more than a container for his child to feed from. Was I cursed to live in hate? Hated for being born, hating the first being that will come from me? Gertrude as she insisted on being called guided me to the bed and began giving me unwanted advice. “He hasn't taken a woman to bed in five years so it won't take too much for you to get pregnant so don't worry too much. Relax your mind and body so it'll be painless for you. I've put some herbs in the tea that'll help –” “I really want to sleep now before he comes, is that okay with you?” I cut her off with a fake smile plastered on my face. If I hear one more word telling me what to do to prepare to be forcefully mounted like a broodmare, I'll commit murder. “Alright then. I'll see you in the morning.” I wasn't completely lying, I was so tired from all the riding and the long journey. Despite the fact that I slept most of the time away, I still felt weak, my wolf hadn't even done more than turn around to keep sleeping so I wanted to sleep. If he wanted a child so badly, he would wake me up. So I curled up on the inside of the large bed, close to the wall and slept off. *** “Wake up child,” Gertrude's voice woke me up, “you need to take herbs this morning to make sure the child stays.” She was by the door, peering in. “What child?” I asked, scrubbing my eyes. “He didn't…” That's when I realised it. The beast slept here, his scent coated the sheets, but he didn't wake me up. Hmm.. maybe there was a hint of humanity in him afterall.Slowly we fell into a routine, bathing him in the morning, he usually wakes up around two in the afternoon. After which I'll get him food to eat. He's usually very tired so we just lay in bed for some hours, my wolf playing with him and sometimes the baby and then it's time for dinner. After trying about three times to get him to bathe while awake in the evening, I resigned to just knocking him out first before soaking him in the water.Gradually, I could feel the drugs working. My hair had grown out a bit again so I cut it and made another hair bangle for him.The other one was still on him but it looked dead sort of.But things were going well, except that Genevieve still hasn't been able to get anything out of those rogue omegas and it's frustrating me.Today, I decided I'll try myself. If they won't speak to me on their own, I'll have to use other methods. After putting Caden to sleep on the sixth day, I headed to the dungeon where I told her to move them to.But I was carrying a
My stubbornness finally paid off and I slept off at some point. But I woke up the next morning and everything was just as bad.No matter, it's time to get these people out of here so I can take a damn breath without feeling like I'm about to turn to ashes.I quickly showered and then prepared Caden's bath water with the herbs and went to get him.Carrying him while was asleep was harder than I thought but with a grunt, I finally got him into the tub.He moved around sleepily but he didn't fight me off.I let him soak in the water for a bit longer, and then I checked on his wounds. They were all healed except a gash by his left shoulder. So I put more of my blood there after draining the water. He was grumbling in his sleep until I carried him out and back to the bed. We'll have to sun the mattress after this entire ordeal.I shut the windows and the door before going down.Cade was crying and I felt bad for not checking in on him again."I've fed him and tried everything, he won't sto
Still, I went downstairs to fetch a bucket of ice. That's when I heard a growl. It was so far away that I didn't even know how I heard it but I know that growl and the owner of it."Sofie! He's back!" I screamed at my wolf."Yes!" She yelled in equal excitement, pushing out of me the second I opened the door.We didn't wait for him to get here, I was dying for relief and I damn well knew the second we connect, everything will be fine.Hot, filthy, mind-blowing but also fine.So I jumped towards the gate and yelled at the guards to open it."Luna? What's the problem? You can't leave, it's the middle of the night!""Follow me if you want, Cassius but open that gate right now!" I roared, my Alpha strength pouring out."Maya?" Aida's voice rang in my head."I'm fine, I heard Caden's growl and I'm going to meet him!""Are you sure he's the one?""Oh trust me, no one else can growl like that.""Take people with you babes, please.""Yeah, sure, Cassius won't let me leave otherwise. He's behi
I took two cold showers but by the time I got back to bed, my body was already aching. My core was clenching and it was like the butterflies in my stomach were having a strange, wild party.I'd thought about talking to Maggie about this again but she already told me it'll subside when they're far from me.The problem was surviving tonight.I have been looking at that pouch of sleeping herbs for far too long but then, what if there's an attack on the Pack?My excuse can't be that I was so horny I made myself pass out, leading to the death of my people and probably my son.No.. nope.No sleeping herbs."You know, you could try doing it yourself," Sofie suggested softly, as though she wasn't talking about something crazy."Myself? How?""It won't be anything like when Caden does it, I'm sure. But I think if you give yourself maybe one or two orgasms, you can get enough relief to pass out.""You know what? Let's just go for a run.""Maya.""Sofie," I replied, already shifting into her."S
"Iron Claw," I began and I jerked in shock when they roared back at me. I couldn't help laughing, "You guys, I'm not sure I can rouse you up like Caden does." "You can Luna, just yell it out loud!" Someone in the middle instructed. I shook my head but they begged. "Come onn.. Please?" "Oh fine you rascals," I gave in, fighting a smile. "Iron Claw!" I yelled, they replied with a resounding roar, hyping me up. I did it again and again until I was screaming as loud as they were, laughing in excitement until everyone calmed down. "You guys are awesome," I chuckled, taking a lungful of air. "Yes!" "Alright, let's get into serious business. I know we're supposed to have done a memorial for our losses but until the Alpha can lead us, I think we can wait. Is that alright with you?" Everyone agreed, some clapping. "Good. The other matter is one that I've discussed with your leaders here and even Alpha Killian and we came to a conclusion. I hope you're ready for this." They roared,
I sighed, already shaking my head."You don't understand what it takes, Brynn. Don't worry, I'm going to give you more responsibilities in the Pack if you're feeling left out.""No, it's not about that," she sighed wringing her hands together.I moved to the side and patted the space near me on the couch, "Sit."A look of surprise crossed her features before she did, folding her hands tightly on her lap."What is the problem?""I know I have offended you greatly and betrayed your utmost trust. My life had no meaning before Alpha Caden rescued me and then you made me your friend and kept me from going insane. I repaid that by doing something stupid.""We've gotten over that, Brynn. Hm?""Yes but the more I heal properly, the worse I feel. And I want to do something, anything, to ease this burden. Please, let me bind my wolf to you, to serve you and pay off this terrible debt I've incurred.""Brynn, these Sentinels think they're doing me a favour," I switched to mind link, "but in a few
CADEN'S POV When I heard that horn, at first I was confused.Did anyone else want to destroy this band of rogue army? But then I saw Killian's wolf and I have never been that happy to see my fellow man.Relief filled me; finally, I could do something. Finally, I can get my mate out of there rather
CADEN'S POVI've never had a reason to fight this hard, so close to the edge, so close to losing my hold on this power that's almost a curse. But I plunged myself deep into my enemy’s midst.“Iron claw!” I screamed into the mind of every warrior tearing into the enemy.Growls acknowledged my call.
We barely made it out of the training field.Caden’s hand was like iron around my wrist as he dragged me toward the nearest building. The second we rounded the corner and were out of sight, he shoved me against the rough stone wall, caging me in with his massive body."Caden..."His mouth crashed d
Sofie didn’t stop.Even after Fang landed in front of us, blocking our path with his massive black frame, she didn’t slow down. She veered sharply to the left, dodging him at the last second and bolting deeper into the forest like this was the most thrilling game of her life.Fang’s growl vibrated
