In his world, every act of defiance becomes a dangerous seduction ~

The mild, diffused light gifted him the visuals of Mili, mindlessly biting on her lower lips, locks of hair falling on her distressed face. Her entire focus was on that silly phone in her daring hands as if that little device could help her cross the Devil she had enticed.

'Isn't she old enough to know how to behave in front of a man?' Daniel questioned himself. It was the first night at Lorenzo's place, and Daniel was alert in all his senses with numerous things running through his mind. He sensed Miliani by his side for a long time. He was just holding himself back to examine the lengths of her little courage.

Beads of tears began accumulating in the corner of her eyes on their own accord much before Daniel could say anything. Why she tries to come up with her 'childish rescue acts' if she cannot even stand a mere stern look from him? With a swift movement, Daniel sat up on the bed, his icy blue eyes not leaving Mili who was crouching down on the floor.

"What you think you are doing, little one?" Daniel's sleepy voice sounded even deeper, raspier.

Her lips quivered as she attempted to answer but words refused to make any outcome. Little did she know, her assumptions would turn out severely wrong. Mili looked anywhere but at his questioning face, not knowing what to do. What angered Daniel more than her doings, was her intentional delay in answering him. He had warned her once about not making him repeat the same fucking thing, he was not going to tolerate such, again.

Mili's breath hitched being startled as she suddenly found Daniel's terrorising arm collecting her up from the floor with one fluid motion as if she were some rag of cotton. Her body dangled against his, his mobile still clutched in her hands as he moved her along, effortlessly.

"I-I couldn't slweep .. I-I j-jwast wanted t-to play g-games," Mili mewled through her stammered breaths while being carried away by him, her words becoming incoherent forward.

"Enough!" He commanded, putting an instant restriction on her useless mewl. Daniel did not mind paying any heed to her appeasement. This fussy girl had been being extra mannerless since the evening, defying him was a blunder, also touching his things without his permission. She needed to be disciplined severely. Pushing the door of the bathroom, he deposited her in there. Her body stiffened in his arms as the cold tiles touched the softness of her feet.

"Good luck playing games with yourself, bunny .. just make sure to not disturb my sleep," he gave her a sly smirk before snatching his mobile away from her hand and slamming the door behind her before she could react to any of it. Mili banged on the door a few times but received no response and with the passing of time, she lost the courage to continue making noise on it anymore.

As the first rays of sunlight began to brighten the sky, Daniel opened the bathroom door, fully dressed up. He stood before the mirror, fixing his messed up, ruffled hair which made him look extra appealing. Miliani peeped at him and quickly dashed out of the bathroom without any word, the scene appearing in the mirror leaving him grinning inwardly. After a brief time of freshening up and making sure of his perfection, he left the room informing Mili not to step out of it under any circumstances.

After a moment of hesitancy, Mili slowly eased herself onto the giant bed intending to get some sleep after being weary of spending a sleepless night in the cold bathroom. Daniel's deeply masculine smell wrapped in the folds of the rich satin braced her senses. She quickly rolled away to the other side of the bed to avoid the tension, his musky oppressive odour brought to her mind.

Just as she was about to sleep, a sharp knock on the door made her alert. The sleep deprived girl got up and before she could respond to the knock, Jessica, Antonio's daughter entered the room with her darting eyes early in the morning.

"Good morning, Daniel's wife" she chirped at Miliani, seating herself on the bed near Mili.

"Morning," Mili replied looking at her with amazed eyes, she was all set up from head to toe, from her perfectly styled hair to her shoes, she was impeccably put together.

"Don't mind me. I didn't get your name yesterday? By the way, I'm Jessica but it's Jess for you," Jessica asked, also informed, looking at her own nails flauntingly.

"Miliani," Mili answered.

"Miliani... Miliani what?" Her question arose again, she was a bit extra curious about Daniel's wife. With no one providing her with much information, she decided to gather it herself.

"Miliani Brown," Mili's tone was quite low. She, all her life, avoided acknowledging the identity of her selfish father, even though her helplessness had no way out of it.

Brown that did ring a bell in Jessica's intrigued mind. As far as she was aware, there was only one man with this surname who used to survive under her dad's mercy, and coincidentally, he also had one daughter. "Don't tell me you're Adam Brown's daughter?" Jessica asked batting her eyes at Mili.

"I-I'm," she uttered with sheer reluctance.

"Interesting," Jessica exclaimed matching the odds. Even though it wasn't possible to remember all the men working under her dad, Adam was surely one of the most loyal dogs. But how did this lowlife end up being Daniel Knight's wife, that was a billion dollar question. She instantly felt icky as her gaze fell upon the shiny diamond ring on Miliani's slender finger. "I remember your father once licked off my Dad's shoes on Sunday before we went to Church," she had one small laugh, her tone was insolent.

Miliani moved her visions down to the bed, furrowing her brows in discomfort. Not like her father's doings embarrassed her anymore, she just wanted to ignore the pain, her past memories brought to her. Miliani was not really ready to drag this conversation further when a maid assigned to their service asked for permission to enter the room, noticing the door was kept ajar.

Jessica responded to it and the maid requested if they wanted to have anything for now before breakfast time.

"I'll have one avocado smoothie," Jessica ordered not looking at her.

The maid took a pause of hesitancy and then informed, "My apologies, signorina. We are not to accept anyone else's order in the presence of Don's wife,"

The posh girl found her nostrils flared being enraged and embarrassed. Now the daughter of some shoe licking rat would be authorising over her, disgusting, above all Daniel was not even officially declared yet. Only if this maid was at her mansion instead of Lorenzo's, she would have screwed her up for this audacity not caring about the fucking rules.

Jessica took her leave with a Fuck off face and storming steps but the maid stood still awaiting Miliani's response.

"Can I have a strawberry shake?" Mili eagerly questioned, it's been three days since she had something nice and sweet.

"Sarà pronto tra pochi minuti, signora," she answered but quickly realised that signora might not know her language, "It will be-"

(It will be ready in a few minutes, ma'am)

"Sí," Mili gave her a sweet smile cutting her off.

He carried her princess style with steady steps while his gaze remained only on her. "Daniel!" Mili gasped, clutching his shoulders. "People are still here..." "Don't care." His voice was a deep rumble of mischievousness and hunger. "Tonight’s ours." After reaching upstairs, he kicked open their bedroom door and dropped her onto the bed with a deliberate recklessness that made her squeal. Mili bounced against the pillows, eyes wide, heart racing. He clutched her ankle, pulling her closer but Mili resisted and tried to scramble away. "Don't you think I'll just give in like that!" Daniel smirked, stalking closer. "Bunny…" his hand shot out, catching her ankle and pulling her back with ease, "…if you want to play ...let's play." His fingers found her sides, and he began tickling merci

Laughter and noises of celebration rushed through the hall even from the people who wanted nothing but Serrano's death and eventually Daniel's downfall. Lorenzo Romano was too proud to be present at this celebration. Antonio didn't let his son Jovanno attend this evening. But the others were present. Mr. Serrano, Daniel and their men remained stable when it was the time to greet the Romanos, maintaining the facade of their dirty politics. The orchestra swelled as Daniel pulled Mili closer. Their bodies were finding rhythm under the chandeliers. The marble floor glimmered like liquid beneath their feet though Mili had never danced before. She was following Daniel's lead, and surprisingly, their bodies rhythmically moved along with the beats of the music. "What colour is victory?" Mili asked in a secret breath against his shoulder. Daniel's lips formed a slow and knowing smirk. "Red. Obvi

Beyond, the yard was a black sheet with faint glimmers of moonlight scattered like broken glass. Daniel stood there with a cigar between his fingers, awaiting his friend, but lost in his mind. Lucia stepped in quietly with two mugs in her hands. "Coffee?" she offered softly, placing it on the marble railing. Daniel leaned against the railing, his sleeves rolled up, that cigar burning low between his fingers. "No." Lucia smiled faintly. "You used to take it black. Every morning. I recalled because I taught her." She gestured toward the room in the distance where Mili had been kept moments ago. "Miliani. I showed her some videos about how you like it." Daniel's eyes flickered, "And?" "And..." Lucia said, folding her hands before her, "Your wife is very transparent. She wears her heart on her sleeve. A girl like that can't hide what she feels." Her lips parted in disbelief. She looked at her husband while questioning, "What's… this?" "Bunny, you wanted to finish school, didn't you?" His tone was casual, but his eyes were watchful. "I had a specialist dig through the best options. Five, six of them. You'll choose whichever suits you." Mili blinked. She almost had an argument with Daniel and hoped for that Jovanno to help her out. She was embarrassed to even bring it up to Daniel, assuming he'd dismiss it at this hour of distress. Yet here it was ...her wish laid bare, well researched, and presented as though it was the most natural thing for a mafia don to arrange. "You…" her voice softened, "…you did this for me? Now? Even with everything happening?" Daniel shrugged, pulling her closer until she was standing between his legs. "Your wis

Maids hurried across the marble floors with fresh linens, while others dusted every corner as though the place were preparing for a royal inspection. But none of it was ordered by Daniel. It was Mili. Restless energy surged in her veins, though she couldn't name the exact reason. Her heart was unsettled. Her mind was too loud. She was moving through the mansion with an ache she couldn't soothe, as if something unseen lingered in the air. She decided to overwork to keep herself busy. So, she managed everyone's work with her own inspection and decided to redecorate every corner of the mansion. "Polish the silver again," she told one maid. "Change those curtains," she ordered another. Even the butler had raised his brows when Mili insisted the entire dining hall be recleaned after it had already been scrubbed spotless. She was behaving so unlike her ...more impatiently than anyone

Lucia went upstairs as Mili guided the distressed guest towards the guest room. Lucia's eyes fell on the bedroom door that was kept open. "That's our bedroom," Mili gave her a small smile walking past it. Lucia took a pause before following. Mili walked ahead, pushing open the door to the guest room. She set the folded blankets on the bed, then reached for the lamp switch and dimmed the golden glow so it wouldn't sting Lucia's already swollen eyes. "You should rest well," Mili said gently, adjusting the pillow for her. Lucia managed a tired nod and slipped out of her coat. As Mili turned to leave, a sudden tug stopped her. Lucia's cold fingers wrapped around Mili's wrist. "Mili… don't go. Please," she whispered. Her voice cracked. "I'm too scared to be alone at this hour. Every time I close my eyes, I see the b
