Mag-log inAll Lisa wanted was to be happy. Something she thought getting married would bring. Oh, but it didn't. Because the second she walked down that aisle in her step cousin's place, her husband promised to never love her. Three years of a loveless marriage should have been enough to snap her. But it didn't. Because even in all, a part of her still hoped he might love her. Not until her step cousin returned. Cassie. His first love. Drex didn't hesitate before filing a divorce. He didn't look back as he threw her out. It should have been enough. Yet it wasn't. At least not till when he chose to save Cassie from an accident instead of her. He chose a woman who left him for three years over someone who stayed. That was when she snapped. Every hope of ever being loved died at that moment. He saw her as a nobody. Her family saw her as one. It was then that she made a vow. To return and shock the world. Shock her family. Shock Drex Drane, her ex-husband. She promised to return more powerful than ever!

Those were his first words the moment I walked into his office. “Huh?” I asked quietly, staring at my boss, while trying to keep the surprise from my voice. Drex didn't say a word. In fact, he barely ever spoke to me. I wouldn't have minded if he was just my boss, but this was a man I'd been married to for over three years already. A man that barely acknowledged my existence since the day I stood on the altar in place of my step cousin. Which was why being called to his office that Wednesday morning was unexpected. And when he opened his drawer and retrieved a file, I had a feeling this would not be good. “What is this?” I asked when he dropped it in front of me. “Divorce papers. Sign it.” Four words. Just four. But they managed to make my head spin. “Wh-What?” He finally raised his chin, staring with an expression devoid of emotion. "You know I don't like to repeat myself." "B-But why so soon?" “Soon?” He scoffed like that was the most absurd thing. “It's been three years. There is nothing soon about this.” "But..." Words hung somewhere in my throat, but my heart started to race. He couldn't do this to me. He just couldn't. If Drex divorced me, that'd be the end. My life, career, future… everything would be destroyed. I'd lose the only protection keeping my stepmother from throwing me off to the streets. No. My desperation rose, which was why I didn't think twice before doing the one thing I never imagined myself doing. I joined both hands and dropped to my knees. "Please." I begged. "Please give it another thought." His frown told me he didn't expect this. "What the hell? Get up, Lisa." "No." I shook my head. "Not until you've promised to think about it." His teeth were gritted when he spoke. "Get up." "No—!" "Get the hell up, Lisa!" His voice was so loud that it startled a flinch from me. When I stared at him, something blazed in his eyes. Irritation. And it was enough to strike right to me. A drop of tear escaped, followed by another. Because I was probably the most shameless woman in his eyes. I had to bite my lower lip to keep from breaking, and slowly pushed myself up till I was standing. "Think about it." My voice was lower now, rough from unshed tears, as I turned and rushed out of his office (the CEO office). This wasn't how it was supposed to be. This wasn't how my life should be. When I was dressing in my step cousin's wedding gown, no one told me it was going to be like this. Drex didn't love me. He never did. He never saw me as the female who wasn't supposed to be his wife. But I didn't mind. I didn't even argue. All I wanted was to be married. And now he wanted to take that from me. He wanted to throw me back to the hell of my dad's house. I didn't stop running, so much that I didn't realize when I bumped into a figure. It was a male I didn't recognize. He stared with furrowed brows and was about to say something, when I turned and rushed out of the company till I was in my car. “Take me home.” I told the driver, so with a roar, the car came to life and I was on the road. The entire drive back, all I could think about was those papers. Fear crawled up my skin as I wondered what would become of me if I divorced him. That was all I thought about till the car came to a halt in front of his mansion. The Drane mansion. It might have been my imagination, but when I got down, I thought I noticed the guards glance at each other somewhat awkwardly. Some of them even stared as I made my way towards the door. But I was too distracted by my thoughts on Drex to care about them. Which probably wasn't a smart idea, because the moment I reached the door, it became clear. The voice that came from behind made it all too clear. Slow and smug... “Well, look who's here.” The familiarity in them made me freeze. 'That' was a voice I could not forget. Believe me, I've tried. But it was hard not to memorize the sound of your childhood trauma. Slowly, and with breath held, I turned. There she stood, her lips in a smirk. Drex's first love. My step cousin. “Cassie?”After David left, I just sat there for a long moment, recalling all the traumatizing things I faced when I lived with them.I didn't know how long I spent doing that, but afternoon arrived, and so did Drex with the great news that I'd been discharged.“Really?” I jumped out of bed, straight to his arms.He wrapped them around my waist. “Yeah, I just talked to the doctor.”A huge grin spread up my lips. “Does that mean I can finally see Imogen?”“Yup. She kept asking how you're doing. Our little angel wants you home as much as I do.”My heart melted at the words. “Awwn, I can't wait to see her too.”He pressed a peck on my lips. “Come on love, let's go home.”Drex slipped his hand on mine, and that afternoon, we both left the hospital together. There was a car already waiting for us. He opened the back seat for me, so I got in and he followed, keeping his hand on mine the entire time. All through the ride home, I rested my head on his shoulder, while he rubbed my thigh in a soothing ma
Drex had stayed with me all day, helping me with my medicines, and getting whatever it was I wanted to eat. He'd even slept the night, which I was grateful for, because the last thing I felt like doing after all that had happened was to spend a night alone in a hospital. The next morning, after we ate breakfast together, he had to leave to check up on Imogen and see how Kelesky was doing.Every part of me wished to follow him, but the doctor still had a few checkups to run on me before they could be sure if I should be bailed or not.Heck, I missed my daughter so much though. I wanted to see her. Touch her and know for myself that she was truly alright.“We just need to monitor your vitals, and if we see that you're alright, you can be discharged by afternoon.” The doctor I now knew as Felicia said that morning.“Thanks, I actually feel a lot better.” Which was true. I didn't know what pills they'd given me, but I could feel my energy returning. She offered me a warm smile, then left
– Lisa Red –My head. It hurt a little bit. My body felt weird as well. What happened? I opened my eyes, but my forehead scrunched at the unfamiliar environment that greeted me.Where was I?A small sigh left my lips, as I turned my head to the side.Drex was sitting there, his head leaned against the wall, eyes closed, but he didn't look like he was asleep.Standing by the doorway was a bald man.Wait, was that David?I had to squint my eyes. It ‘was' David. What on earth was David doing… wherever this was?His eyes widened. “You're-You’re awake.”Drex's head jerked forward, eyes snapping open. When he stared at me, clear relief washed over his face. “Oh my God, Lisa.”“Drex.” I breathed out, still trying to understand what was happening. He took my hand in his. “Oh baby,” a shaky breath left him, “you're awake. How do you feel? Are you in pain? I should get the doctor.” He turned to David. “Get the doctor.”“Uh? Y-Yes. I'll go get her.” He rushed out, while I laid on that bed, mo
“Lisa!” My legs moved before I could think. All I saw was my wife, and the gun pressed to her side.I needed to save her.Heck, I had to.A loud growl left my throat as two arms gripped me tightly. “You need to calm down, sir.”“Let go of me! I order you to leave me right now!”“Let us handle this.” The cop sounded too calm for my sanity.“There's a gun pointed at her. What the hell do you mean by you'll handle it?!”“Yes, that's why you have to stay back.” He answered a little sharply. “One mistake and you may lose your wife.”The thought alone sent cold chills down my body. As though to prove it, the guy with the gun pressed it harder. “No one must come near. This gun is loaded with bullets, and I swear I won't hesitate to shoot if anyone tries any shit.” He sounded serious. A shaky breath left me, and I took a step back.Lisa looked tired. Her face was pale, and the fact her hands and feet were tied seemed to only add to the stress. Her head was down, that I had to wonder if she
