Jason P.O.V

I can't believe what I'm hearing — it shattered my heart into a million pieces. My inner demons were fighting to stand strong as I looked at her with so much disgust.

I fought back the tears forcing their way out, but I knew she wasn't worth them.

I tried to make sense of her betrayal, but Mrs Cash’s voice cut through as she kept hammering on about the money she was owned, which angered every fiber in my being.

Before I could speak, Mrs. Cash intervened, “Oh, it's such a pity that your fairytale comes to an end… but reality doesn't care,” she said, her grin dripping with mischief.

I kept wondering how I would react to this situation when I suddenly felt a hand trying to hold mine, and I snapped immediately. “Don't you dare touch me,” I snapped, my glare dripping with loathing, still clenching my fists to steady my anger.

My eyes kept staring at the smug, aging woman standing shamelessly at my doorstep while my fist clenched and unclenched with restrained fury.

I looked straight at Brinda, my anger blinding me, and I slammed my fist on the wall next to her in rage.

“I can't believe I just did that — this isn't me”, my mind kept repeating while staring at my unlawful action.

A piece of me wanted to apologize to her for my sudden action, but I was so consumed by her betrayal that I only wished she felt what I did.

She looked at me with so much shock, but I left her and turned my eyes to the major problem.

“Miss Cash, you need to get the hell out of my property — before I call the police. And I hate to repeat myself.”

Before I could further vent my anger, she hushed me and said, “Darling, you know you shouldn't hit a pregnant woman. My timing was wrong, but don't worry—I’ll be back.

She entered her SUV and zoomed off while I kept staring at the broken presence standing beside me.

“J-Jason… p-please… forgive me,” she sobbed. But all I felt was cold resentment.

“Jason, if you don't want me around, just say so. I can't keep enduring your cruelty — it's tearing me apart.” She kept pouring out of her tender lips.

“Maybe it's best if I end this pregnancy — so we can both finally have peace. I won't let my past ruin our future.” She stuttered, with tears flowing down her flushed cheeks.

She turned to leave. A part of me wanted her close, but the questions kept screaming — why would she hide something this big, especially with my child inside her?

As she was about to exit the door, I knew if she left I would somehow feel guilty, which I quickly grabbed her wrist, slowing my breathing to calm my anger.

“You're staying — at least until the baby's born”, I said firmly, fighting back the aching pain I felt even though I didn't know Brinda, our bodies kept, electrifying which was still a mystery to me.

I drew her close. Our faces inches apart. Her lips trembled slightly parted. But I couldn't read her anymore when I suddenly heard a tiny voice ringing in my head: “Miss Cash… She didn't tell you, huh? Your precious girl's not so innocent — and she still owes me.”

I suddenly created a gap between us and redirected my face, knowing it would leave her in pain, but I felt she truly deserved it and nothing less.

“If you need anything, make yourself at home — but cross me again, and you'll regret it.” I said, staring at her as I climbed the stairs, desperate to escape the wreckage of this night.

Once I noticed I was out of Brinda's sight, I hurried to my room wondering how her past tied to Miss Cash.

I ran a hand down my face, pacing in circles, desperate to try to know what she's hiding, and what she'll do if she ever finds out about mine.

I threw myself into bed instantly, wondering my next course of action.

“I need to uncover her past — before it pulls me under too,” I thought, drowning in a sea of endless questions.

Brinda’s P.O.V“Hospital?” I repeated, my voice shaking. The pharmacist didn’t soften his expression.“Yes. Immediately.”My chest tightened.Immediately.Like I had that kind of option.“I…” my lips trembled. “I don’t have that kind of money.”He didn’t respond immediately. And that silence? It made everything worse.“Please,” I said quickly, my voice breaking as I held my baby closer. “There has to be something else. Anything. I just… I just got here. I don’t have a job yet. I don’t have anyone—”“You’re wasting time,” he cut in, his tone firm.My heart dropped.“I’m not trying to waste time,” I said, panic rising in my chest. “I’m trying to save my baby.”His jaw tightened slightly.“Then take her to the hospital.”“I can’t!” I snapped, my voice louder than I intended.People turned to look at me.I didn’t care.

  • His Favorite Sin   I can't lose her

Brinda's P.O.V I didn’t know how I got back to the motel. My legs moved. My body walked. But my mind?It was somewhere else.Every “no” I heard today echoed in my head like a curse.No.No.No.I pushed the door open and stepped inside slowly, closing it behind me with a soft click.Silence.The kind that felt heavy.I stood there for a few seconds, just staring at nothing.“…This isn’t how I thought today would go,” I whispered. My baby shifted slightly in my arms.I looked down at her.Her tiny face was calm.Peaceful.Like the world wasn’t already trying to break us.“I tried,” I murmured.“I really tried.”I walked to the bed and sat down slowly, placing her gently beside me.“I thought… maybe someone would just give me a chance.”A small laugh escaped my lips.

  • His Favorite Sin   I won't give up

Brinda’s P.O.VThe knock came again.Sharp.Loud.My heart jumped straight to my throat.I froze where I sat, my baby still in my arms, her tiny body warm against mine.“Who… who is it?” I whispered, my voice barely coming out.No response.Just silence. My grip tightened around her. This wasn’t right. No one was supposed to know I was here.No one.My heart started racing. What if they found me?What if—Another knock.Slower this time.Deliberate.I swallowed hard.“Okay…” I whispered to myself. “Okay…”I couldn’t just sit here forever.I carefully placed my baby on the bed, adjusting the blanket around her.“Mommy will be right back,” I murmured softly, brushing my fingers against her cheek. She stirred slightly but didn’t wake.I stood up slowly, my legs sti

Jason’s POV I didn’t move and I couldn’t.The note was stil in my hand slightly crumpled from how tightly I had been gripping it.My eyes stayed fixed on the words like if I read them enough times… they would change. They didn’t.“Goodbye… forever.”The words echoed in my head like curse.“No…” I whispered under my breath.“This doesn’t make sense.” My chest tightened again. She wouldn’t leave like this. Not Brinda. Not after everything. Not after what we just… built.“She was scared,” I muttered, pacing slowly.“That’s all. She was scared.”But even as I said it, something inside me refused to believe it.Brinda was many things.Broken.Guarded.Stubborn.But she wasn’t a coward. She wouldn’t run without a reason. So what happened? My jaw clenched.“What aren’t you t

  • His Favorite Sin   First Night Alone

Brinda's P.O.V The taxi slowed to a stop in front of a dimly lit building.I lifted my head slowly and looked through the window.A cheap motel. The sign flickered weakly, half the letters barely working. For a moment… I just stared at it.This was it.“Ma’am,” the driver said gently.I blinked and turned to him.“We’re here.”“Oh…” I swallowed. “Thank you.”He hesitated, his eyes studying me through the mirror.“You sure you’re alright?”“The question caught me off guard and for a second, I almost laughed.”“Alright?” I muttered.“I had just run away from my life, nearly got killed, gave birth, left the man I loved and landed in a strange city with a new born baby and no plan.”But instead, I forced a small nod.“I’m fine.”The lie came out too quickly.Too easily. He didn’t look convinced.“You

  • His Favorite Sin   The Start

Brinda’s POV The plane doors opened and the first breath of unfamiliar air hit my face. Cold.Sharp.Real.For a moment I just stood there, clutching my baby closer to my chest while the other passengers moved past me with their bags and chatter. Everyone seemed to know where they were going.Everyone except me.“Ma’am?” the flight attendant said gently. “We’ve landed.”“I… yes.” I forced my feet to move. One step. The another. Each step down the narrow aisle felt heavier than the last, like the weight of everything I had left behind was pressing against my chest.Jason.The thought of his name alone made my throat tighten painfully.I swallowed hard. Not now.Not here.I stepped out of the plane and into the airport terminal, my baby shifting softly in my arms. Her tiny fingers curled against the blanket wrapped around h
