“I can't believe it! I’m finally getting married to the man of my dreams!” I squealed with my lips wide open, spilling words of excitement.
“Who could have thought that a nobody like me could find her missing rib? And now, look at me — the queen of them all!,” I intertwined my fingers.
I grabbed onto the bedside table while my legs bounced on my bed like a giddy teenager, forgetting momentarily that I was a full-grown adult. But how could I not? Today was the happiest day of my life. A day I had only dared to dream of had now become my reality forever.
I twirled around my room in my majestic, flawless white gown, singing my favorite song when I suddenly felt the weight of my heart in my chest.
I felt the weight of the heart in my palm for a moment. Tears welled in my eyelids as my lips pressed together. “Oh, I wish my parents were alive to see their little princess walking down the aisle. But,” I whispered softly, “God knows best. I miss you both so much.”
I stood before the mirror, marveling at the radiant woman reflecting at me. “Brad,” I murmured”, “you’ve turned my life around.” I could almost feel his touch, his presence electrifying every fiber of my being.
Brad was the only man who truly knew me, yet still chose to walk the path of forever with me, pulling me out of the depths of depression. He’s the first man that I ever loved and the only man who wanted to take me to the altar.
My hands stumbled on the speaker remote playing “Call Me baby” which made my hands and legs swinging in a goofy manner while tapping my feet together.
“I can't imagine how marriage is though, but who cares? Mine is here to stay!” while still dancing up and down.
“Brinda!” Lizzy’s voice pulled me from my thoughts, which, with her serious tone, stunned me.
“I’m coming,” I called out, still moving my lips like a professional dancer, but her continuous knocking hinted urgency, which made my countenance change.
Opening the door, I was greeted by her tear-streaked face, with her cheeks burning with pain. Alarm bells rang in my head. “What happened?”, I asked, glaring at her in a confused state.
“Sis, you know that you're the only family I have. No matter what happens, I’ll always be there for you,” she said, stuttering, with her hands trembling.
“Ummm, what do you mean by ‘situation’, Lizzy”? I asked, my brows knitting together and my stomach twisting.
“It’s from Brad,” she whispered. My hands shakingly embraced the note while bracing myself for its contents:
My mind kept wondering what the letter contained while a sick feeling kept drowning in my stomach.
“Dear Brinda,
I’m sorry I can’t go through with this glorious wedding. It hurts me deeply to write this letter, especially knowing how my heart once beat for you with all the tenderness of a storm beneath a gloomy sky. I wish life chose a better part for us, but it's so sad that most good things have to come to an end. The truth is, I can no longer go on with this wedding because another woman is carrying my child, and out of responsibility and pressure from her influential family — I've been forced into building a life I never intended. You’re a good person, but it's so sad that the happiest day of our life is filled a day turned to dust with unexpected sorrows. I want you to know that you will always hold a sacred place in my heart — one no other can ever replace. I love you more deeply than these tear-stained page can ever express, and in another life, I pray you’d still be mine.
Yours sincerely,Brad”
I looked pale glaring at the unforseen words slapping me In the face of my supposed happiest day of my life. “How could Brad do this to me, of all people, qafter everything we’ve been through?”, I sobbed, tears bursting from my eyes. The words pierced my empty heart, as my hands fumbled to regain control of my surroundings.
“How could Brad do this to me after all the love you showered me”, screaming through my blurred vision with my breathe frozen.
Overwhelmed, I lunged at Lizzy, clutching at her golden gown in despair, tearing the fabric without meaning to. “Why are we this unlucky Lizzy, my life has always been a scam from the beginning and he goes to do this, HOW!!!,
I kept on repeating while Lizzy looked at me with such fear in her eyes patting me softly at my back. “Don’t worry sis, I would definitely kill him for you “, she responded but I knew it was mere words of anger for him.
Before I could say anything my knees buckled, and I collapsed with the last thoughts of pain banging on my memory lane with Lizzy’s arms barely catching me. “Sis, pleaseeee don't do this to me, Pleaseeee don't forget the promise we both made to mum and dad”, but my mind kept drifting into white.
The world which I knew of love and happiness was now shattered, while darkness consumed me waiting for my end to catch up with me faster than my heart could take as I laid there on the floor like a limp vegetable begging for air.
As I lay frozen, my world collapsing In slow motion, Lizzy’s voice echoing through the storm in my head. “Sis you can't fucking die on me, I would die in this heartless world without you in my life” she said while my hands kept urging me to fight.
Brinda's P. O. VJason paced the room like a man on edge, his steps tracing the same line over and over, like a scratched vinyl stuck on a chaotic loop. He looked like a psycho—no steering wheel, no brakes—just bottled rage spinning in circles.I watched him, my arms folded across my chest, silently daring him to explode. He paused, one hand rubbing his jaw like he could massage the truth out of it. His eyes lifted—sharp, unblinking—and locked on mine.“You should’ve told me,” he said flatly. But that look… that look could’ve stripped the paint off walls.I stepped forward, heart racing, fists clenching. “Do you fucking think I knew I was carrying your baby, Jason?” My voice cracked under the weight of unshed tears. “Seriously?”A beat of silence pulsed between us. He stared, lips drawn tight, chest heaving with unspoken words. Then he said the most absurd thing I’d ever heard in my life.“You’re coming with me. No child of mine is going to be born into that poverty-stricken life you’
Brinda's P.O.VMy eyelids slowly open, revealing the sparkling gloom of a place fit for kings. “Who knew a stranger like him would be my jolt back to life?” I said, biting my lower lip embraced his chiseled face. His face seemed to call out to me, while every part of my body screamed his name — Jason. My lips ached for a magical kiss. “What the heck am I doing here, knowing that our worlds would never fit?” I whispered, a trail of sadness in my eyes. I slowly peeled off the soft white sheet, careful not to wake him with even the slightest movement.I allowed my eyes to feast on the beautiful artifacts placed at different corners while grabbing the scattered outfits littered all over. As I touched the handle of the knob, a sense of regret kept flowing through me while I glanced back at my handsome stranger to be a forgetting memory. “It’s just a fucking one-night stand, Brinda. Get over him already,” my mind kept pounding, but my heart said something different. I quickly closed th
Brinda's P.O.V As I kept walking on the lonely road, I hugged my arms tighter as the chilly wind pierced through me, every step dragging memories I couldn't outrun — some places I cried, others I screamed.”I reached out for my phone in my black purse while booking a cab, but my head kept screaming, “I need to get the fuck out of here,” I said, while banging my hand on my head. — — — —I kept glaring at the wooden building, rethinking every decision that led me here while bass vibrated through the floorboards and rattled my ribs — I closed my eyes for a second, letting it stitch something broken inside me back together. My heels clicked against the bar floor like I was ready to run, but the weight in my chest dragged me back — there was nowhere else to go. “Hey barman, get me the strongest drink you have — and be quick about it,” I said as tears streamed down my face. I muttered nonsense while disgusted eyes stared at me like I was crazy. The burn clawed down my throat like fire

But somewhere deep inside, a part of me still wished my thoughts were the reality that ended it all.My eyelids fluttered open, the stark white ceiling above unfamiliar and sterile. I wasn't home. That much I knew. Panic crawled into my chest, but my lips moved before my mind caught up—whispering into the empty air, begging silently for freedom I had never known. With trembling breath, I gathered enough strength to lift my head, only to realize... I was in a hospital.Confusion turned into fear.Who brought me here? Before I could unravel my thoughts, a warm presence entered the room—a young woman with cascading blonde curls and a kindness in her eyes that soothed the tremble in my bones."Good morning, Miss Brinda," she said, her voice smooth as velvet."I'm Nurse Christy. We’re all relieved you’re awake. Your blood pressure had us really worried.
