Aurora woke before sunrise.

For the first time in days, her heart felt calmer.

She stood on the balcony of her parents' house, watching the golden rays of the morning sun spread across the quiet neighborhood. The cool breeze brushed against her face as she rested a hand on her stomach.

"This is our new beginning," she whispered.

She had spent too much time mourning the life she had lost. It was time to build a new one.

Behind her, her father stepped onto the balcony carrying a steaming mug of coffee.

"I thought I'd find you here."

Aurora smiled faintly.

"I've been thinking."

"About Damian?"

She shook her head.

"About myself."

Her father nodded approvingly.

"Good."

He handed her a thick brown folder.

"I've been waiting until you were ready."

Aurora opened it.

Inside were documents, business reports, and ownership certificates.

Across the first page was the name:

Bennett Textile Group

Her eyes widened.

"Dad... this company still exists?"

"It does."

"It struggled after I retired, but I never sold it."

He smiled.

"I was hoping that one day, someone in this family would bring it back to life."

Aurora looked at him in disbelief.

"You want me to run it?"

"I don't want you to."

"I believe you can."

For the first time since leaving Blackwood Manor, she saw a future that didn't revolve around Damian.

She slowly smiled.

"I'll do it."

---

Across the city, Damian arrived at the office earlier than usual.

"Ethan."

His assistant entered immediately.

"Any news?"

Ethan's expression was grim.

"The witness is missing."

Damian frowned.

"What do you mean, missing?"

"We sent a team to meet Professor Samuel Reed this morning."

"They arrived too late."

"The house was empty."

Damian stood abruptly.

"Empty?"

"The neighbors said he left before dawn."

"Nobody knows where he went."

A cold feeling settled in Damian's chest.

"This wasn't a coincidence."

"No, sir."

"Someone got to him first."

Damian's jaw tightened.

"Vanessa."

---

Meanwhile...

Vanessa relaxed on the balcony of her luxury apartment, sipping coffee as though nothing had happened.

Her assistant approached nervously.

"The professor has disappeared."

Vanessa smiled.

"Good."

"He won't be testifying."

"But..."

"What?"

"We don't know where he went."

Vanessa's smile faded.

"What do you mean?"

"He disappeared before our people reached him."

She slowly lowered her coffee cup.

If her men hadn't taken him...

Then someone else had.

For the first time, even Vanessa felt uneasy.

---

Later that afternoon, Aurora drove to the old Bennett Textile headquarters.

The building looked abandoned.

Dust covered the reception desk.

Broken chairs were scattered across the lobby.

The once-proud company had become a forgotten shell.

She slowly walked through the empty halls.

On the walls hung faded photographs of smiling employees and award ceremonies from years ago.

Her father joined her.

"This place used to employ over two thousand people."

Aurora ran her fingers across one of the dusty picture frames.

"It will again."

Her father looked at her with pride.

"That's the spirit."

At that moment, Aurora made a silent promise.

She would rebuild the company.

Not for revenge.

Not to prove anything to Damian.

But because she wanted to create something meaningful for herself and her child.

---

That evening, Damian returned to Blackwood Manor.

The mansion had never felt so empty.

He walked into the living room and noticed a framed wedding photograph still sitting on the fireplace.

Aurora was laughing.

He was smiling.

It was one of the few genuine smiles he had ever worn.

He picked up the frame.

"What happened to us?" he whispered.

His phone suddenly rang.

"Ethan?"

"Sir... we've located Mrs. Blackwood."

Damian's heart raced.

"Where is she?"

There was a pause.

"We're not sure."

"What?"

"Someone deliberately erased her travel records, closed her old bank accounts, and disconnected every public contact linked to her."

Damian frowned.

"That's impossible."

"It looks like she doesn't want to be found."

Damian lowered the phone slowly.

Aurora hadn't simply left.

She had disappeared.

Completely.

He looked out into the darkness beyond the mansion windows.

For the first time in years, the powerful billionaire realized there was one thing his wealth couldn't buy.

The chance to find the woman he had driven away.

Far across the city, Aurora locked the doors of Bennett Textile Group.

She looked back at the faded company logo one last time.

"Tomorrow," she said softly.

"We begin again."

Neither she nor Damian knew that someone inside the abandoned building had been secretly watching her all day.

As Aurora drove away, the mysterious figure stepped out of the shadows and made a phone call.

"I found her."

A cold voice answered.

"Good."

"Don't let Damian know... yet."

  • His Greatest Regret ⭐   Chapter 11 — The Question She Refused to Answer

Damian couldn't move. For several seconds, the noise around him seemed to disappear. The laughter of the guests. The clinking of glasses. The soft music playing somewhere behind him. None of it mattered anymore. His eyes remained fixed on the little girl standing beside Aurora. She was holding Aurora's hand with one tiny fist while the other clutched a small stuffed rabbit. She looked completely unaware of the storm she had just created inside Damian's mind. Damian swallowed hard. It couldn't be. It was impossible. Yet the longer he stared at her, the more uncomfortable the thought became. There was something familiar about her. Not just her eyes. The shape of her face. The little crease that appeared between her eyebrows whenever she became curious. Even the way she tilted her head when she looked at someone. Damian had seen those things before. In the mirror. His breath caught. "Damian?" Aurora's voice finally broke through his thoughts. He looked at her. She was
