CHAPTER #19“DECEPTION”LUCCA’S POV: I knew Evan was behind this from the get-go. He and his father showed entirely too much interest in Bridgette, especially Evan’s father for my liking. Additionally, the rumor that Evan and his father were collecting breeders didn’t sit well with me. The fact that it was immoral and disgusting, not to mention illegal per werewolf law made me wonder if the rumors were just that, however Evan’s odd behavior since the death of his mate made me ponder if the rumors were indeed true. And if I were collecting females, Bridgette would be one on the top of my list, risky or not. I walked over to the decanter and poured myself a scotch, honestly, I just needed a minute to focus. Just knowing that the father and son Alpha’s of the Green Mountain pack were responsible for the attempted kidnapping of my mate, made me wonder if they were the ones responsible for all the women that had mysteriously gone missing over the past few months. I slammed
CHAPTER #20 “FOR THE TAKING” EVAN’S POV: I smiled brightly as I walked out of the coffee shop, finally, an up close and personal view of my future Luna. Bridgette was magnificent, better than I could ever dreamed. Her deep auburn hair, her cyan blue eyes, and those curves! Her ass was going to fit in my hand like a tight glove, and despite her wearing an obvious sports bra and a layered tank under her sweatshirt, I could tell she had voluptuous bosom. What a specimen, and not only was her exotic hair and lavish body tantalizing, but her lovely face, high cheek bones and porcelain skin only made her more irresistible. Yes, she was the perfect Luna for me. “Stupid human, she’s a special wolf, a very powerful wolf, not one of your foolish conquests.” My wolf muttered at me coldly. I had not even thought about my wolf when I heard his voice bark in my head. Per usual, he sounded annoyed with me. “I realize that she is a special wolf, that’s why I b
CHAPTER #21“911” MEREDITH’S POV: I sat at my computer this morning, early September in Scotland was so serene and beautiful. I couldn’t concentrate as I stared out the window in stead of working on what I needed to do. I hadn’t slept well, premonitions kept staggering my mind. Many of them were blurbs and incomplete pieces, but the one that settled in my dreams, the most disturbing, was the one of my friend’s imprisonment holding a very pregnant belly. Her hand reached up into my mind, shrouded in darkness, concealed in a stone dungeon with iron bars, gasping “help me”. It was enough for me to startle awake gasping, drenched in a cold sweat. It was nearly 11am and the cold wind whistled against my single pain window, the vibrant orange leaves beating the side of the cottage. There was nothing more beautiful than an early fall, unfortunately, the weather was quite brisk already and the dampness forced me to wear my shawl over my shoulders. I glanced down at my
CHAPTER #22“AMERICA” MEREDITH’S POV: I held the phone in my hand, listening to the roaring growl and then a shattering window. My heart broke because I knew he had lost control and had shifted into his wolf. I had witnessed it many times here. American or Scott, it didn’t matter, the instincts of the wolves were all too similar. It took a few minutes before another deep resounding voice picked up the phone, that I am sure had been dropped during the shift. “Hello?” the voice questioned cautiously. “Who is this?” I could clearly hear the skepticism over the phone line, witnessing the rage of his Alpha and the shift without explanation often bewilders and concerns pack members. “My name is Meredith; I am Bridgette’s best friend in Scotland.” I answered plainly, I couldn’t help but feel for this wolf, I knew he was confused. “Can you explain what in the hell you said to my Alpha that would cause him to lose his shit, shift into his wolf and
CHAPTER 23“FERAL”ENZO’S POV: “It’s too late. She’s already gone.” The soft voice echoed in my head, I heard the stranger’s words, but being able to comprehend them was a completely different matter. I could feel my human side falter, and it was I, who roared over the phone lines. “What do you mean she’s already gone!” My Alpha aura nearly shattering the windows and forcing both Cohan and Ryder to take a fair number of steps backwards, lowering their heads submissively. “I was talking to her on the phone when she told me she thought she was in danger, as soon as she spoke those words, everything went silent, and I heard the phone fall. Honestly, sounded like a boot stomped it.” Lucca slowly walked back over to our seat behind the desk and lowered into it. In my heart, I knew what this woman was telling the truth, and that my human self and I both agreed upon. We had failed our mate. Lucca glanced up and looked at both Ryder and Cohan, I felt the terro
CHAPTER #24“WHERE AM I” BRIDGETTE’S POV: I felt my body linger in a semi-conscious state. I could smell a sterile environment around me and could tell the room was lit even with my eyes still closed. I heard a beep in the background, was that a heart monitor? Had something happened to me? I turned my head and felt a stiffness in my neck, causing my hand to responsively reach up and feel for the small lump at the side of my neck. What happened to me? My eyes fluttered open slowly as I became fully conscious. Other than a slight headache and the lump on the side of my neck I was fine, or so I believed. What happened anyhow, my memory was limited. I had gone to Starbucks, then went back to my hotel where that strange Alpha had been following me. I sat up quickly and found both my hands cuffed to a hospital bed. I froze and took the time to scan my surroundings. I was indeed in what appeared to be a hospital room, and there was a fair blonde girl hooked up to mo
CHAPTER #25“TEMPER TEMPER” MEREDITH’S POV: As I heard that final seatbelt bell sound through out the cabin, I peered over and stole a glance of the formidable Alpha King grumbling and semi snoring in his seat beside me. He had slept nearly the entire flight as we had opted to take the red eye from Edinburg to New York City. When we had transferred flights just a couple hours earlier, he had gathered our luggage, and I do say, our luggage, carried all of it himself to the private hanger and set it down beside the private charter he had scheduled the day before. Then lumbered back into the plush private jets posh leather seats, leaned back and once again, took to napping. Meanwhile, I had slept very little, maybe only a couple of sporadic cat naps the entire 8-hour flight. I found myself glowering at him irritably. Not fair, not freaking fair, how he could sleep so comfortably when my best friend, his daughter had been kidnapped by Goddess knows who. I crossed
CHAPTER #26“RAINA” LUCCA’S POV: I walked out of Evan’s home feeling defeated. I knew he had her, I was sure of it. I could smell her all over him. I walked down the steps and onto the driveway, scanning back up at the medieval atrocity he called a house. I noticed a figure peering out of a second story window and I couldn’t help but crease my brow when I recognized the old man, Oliver. He looked somewhat pleased with himself smiling at me from the window and offered me a half-hearted wave. I felt my heart sink even more at his acknowledgement. I needed to regain my wits about me and fight to get my Luna back. As I walked down the driveway, I noticed a couple of younger girls peering at me from the side door of the kitchen and I nodded to them politely. One, a striking young brunette, probably not a day over 16 years, pointed over to the woods and slowly began walking along the side of the house, ducking at every window. I picked up speed and hurried to the e
