LOGINThelma’s POV
I tried to be neutral and act as though I just got here but it was not possible as to why I broke the vase. My hands were getting sweaty and I knew I was nervous, it can be seen through me easily which would break my lies. Just when I was confused on what to do, a pair of hands pulled me away leading to another room which I have no idea existed. The wall closed on us leading to an underground, I looked up to see who it was and was met with a pair of blue eyes, cold yet enchanting and seductive. His hair black but with a small red tint fell a bit on his face, his jawline drawn with his pink plump lips making him sexy. “Have you seen enough?” He asked, I cleared my throat pulling away from him feeling awkward. I had no idea who he was yet I was lost staring at him. “Thanks.” My voice came out inaudible, I can’t believe I was lost staring at his eyes. He walked towards another side, with me walking behind. He didn’t say anything instead kept walking towards a direction, soon we got out, I realized the secret passageway lead outside the pack to the training ground. He turned to face me, that was when I saw him clearly, Xavier. Yvonne fiance that was ambushed in the past life, he was said to be her mate but I knew there were more to it now. He was ambushed and overpowered when he went to save Neon in the past life, since tomorrow tonight was the night I’ll be announced as the Luna to be. Tonight is the night Yvonne will find out he was her mate, she came to meet me for help to cover up her scent which was weird because anyone will be happy to have found their mate. He pocketed his hands into his trouser, “You should be more careful eavesdropping on people, you don’t get to be saved everytime.” His words left me tongue struck, saved everytime? Has he saved me before? Could it be? No, it can’t be, not possible. Just as he was about to leave, I held his hand, “You should be careful also, someone is targeting you and you might get ambushed tonight.” Before he could say anything, Neon arrived cutting our conversation short, “Thelma.” He called out, I forced out a smile as I stared at him. He glared at Xavier gently before he pulled me to his side walking away from him, I glanced back to see Xavier still staring at me. “What do you think you are doing.” I removed my hands from his ad I glared at him, the anger built up inside me was hard to surpress. As I remembered how he had attacked me and brutally watched me dying without helping, just because he wanted to be with Yvonne. He changed his expression quickly, “You know I don’t like seeing you with other guys, I just want to have you alone to myself.” Says the guy who was busy cheating on me with my so called sister, “Seeing me with someone doesn’t mean I am flirting with them, it can be something else.” Noticed his facial expression changed, I cleared my throat, “It’ll be soon that I’ll be announced as your fiancé, if I didn’t care about you, do you think I’ll talk to dad to make you my fiancé.” He believes what I said, he didn’t push further anymore and changed the topic, “So have you seen Yvnnoe?” He asked. I knew he wouldn’t come to look for me just for nothing, it was weird how he came to meet me when I was the one tagged as always looking for him. I rolled my eyes, “No idea! I guess she should be around the pack, look for her and you’ll find her.” Without waiting for a response, I hissed moving forward to the chair not far from him as he followed behind. He sensed I might be angry and quickly changed his expression, he helped me sat on the chair kneeling in front of me. His fake smile plastered on his lips, “Of course not. I’m just worried about you, Xavier is dubious and act secretively, no one knows much about him, I just didn’t want him to harm you.” The real secretive person here is you, you are the one who wanted to harm me, I scoffed slightly, my arms folded under my firm breast. “Whatever you say, you just don’t get to drag me all the way from the training ground to my room.” He nodded slowly. I let out a small smile, by now, he should be gone, he stared deep into me, coming closer to kiss me but I pushed him away. He was shocked, yes, I always wanted this but he told me until he get announced as my royal alpha, it was good at first but not anymore. “You said until you get pronounced as my royal alpha, just one night.” I said sharply, he smiled and nodded standing up. He pecked my forehead, “Yes, I totally forgot, I can’t wait for you to be mine already.” I nodded but stared at him in disgust as he left. I breathed in a sigh of relief, I still haven’t come to terms that I had been reborn, it felt like a nightmare and now, I could feel I wasn’t just the person I used to be. I ruffled my hands inside my hair, not knowing where to start from since I am powerless at the moment, I needed someone with power and connection more stronger than mom and dad. I stood up, pacing to and fro in my room then I remembered, in the previous life, after Xavier went into a coma. The Daylight pack came for him and that was when everyone found out he was the alpha of the popular and strongest pack. But I knew nothing about him except for the fact that he was Yvonne’s mate. I never met with him personally before and this would be the first time. Just then, I received a knock on my door, I slowly walked towards it, turning the knob with shaky hands, a maid was outside holding a box. She handed it over to me, “the alpha said to give this to you, the announcement ceremony has been shifted to tonight.” She didn’t wait for me to respond before leaving, I stared at the box in my hand in shock, if they were to announce the crowning ceremony then it’ll be harder for me to get my revenge. I frown, my face visible in anger. If this is how you guys want to do then let’s see who get the last laugh.Xavier's POVMy father was alive. The man I'd mourned for years, the man whose death had shaped my entire childhood, was clinging to a stone platform not ten feet from where I stood. Looking at me with eyes that held guilt and grief and something else. Relief?"You're dead," I said stupidly. "Mom killed you. She said she killed you.""I did kill him," my mother whispered. "I felt his heart stop. I buried him myself.""You buried a body," my father said, pulling himself onto the platform with difficulty. "But it wasn't mine. It was one of Victoria's wolves, altered by dark magic to look like me. I was already gone by then, in hiding. Victoria's idea, actually. She convinced me that the only way to protect you from your destiny was to disappear completely. To let you think I was dead so you'd never come looking for me.""Why?" The word came out as a growl. My wolf was surging forward, confused and angry and hurt all at once. "Why would you do that?""Because I was a coward." My father's
Thelma's POVThe ground beneath us split open. One moment, James, Elizabeth, and I were running through the cave system toward the old Alpha's mansion. Next, the floor cracked like an eggshell, and we were falling into darkness.I shifted mid-fall, my wolf's instincts taking over. I hit water, hard enough to knock the air from my lungs. When I surfaced, gasping, I realized we'd fallen into the same flooded cavern where Xavier was.But everything had changed. The water was rising rapidly, already chest-high and climbing. The walls were moving, stone grinding against stone as passages opened and closed at random. And the temperature had dropped so low I could see my breath, despite being partially submerged."Thelma!" Xavier's voice cut through the chaos. I spotted him on a stone platform twenty feet away, his mother beside him. Relief flooded through me so intensely it hurt."Xavier!" I tried to swim toward him, but the current was too strong. The water was flowing in a circular patter
Xavier's POVSixty seconds. Fifty-nine. Fifty-eight.Victoria's countdown echoed in my head as I stared at my mother. She was crying, but she'd also shifted into a fighting stance. Ready to defend herself. Or ready to attack me? I couldn't tell."I won't do it," I said. "I won't kill her.""Then Thelma dies," Victoria said simply. "I have wolves positioned at the healing center right now. One word from me, and they'll inject her with a toxin even Elder Thomas's antidote can't cure. She'll die screaming, Xavier. And it will be your fault for not making the hard choice.""You're bluffing.""Am I?" Victoria pulled out a phone, pressed a button. A video feed appeared, showing Thelma's room at the healing center. Three wolves I didn't recognize were standing around her bed, which was empty. "Oh dear. Where is she? Did someone help her escape? How unfortunate. I suppose I'll just have to kill everyone in the healing center until someone tells me where she went. Starting with the children in
Thelma's POVThe secret passage was narrower than I'd expected, barely wide enough for us to move single file. James led the way, with Elizabeth behind him and me bringing up the rear. My wolf was stronger now, but still not fully recovered. Every step was an effort."How much farther?" I gasped."Ten more minutes," James said. "Maybe fifteen. The passage opens into a natural cave system that runs beneath Silver Ridge. We'll come up right under the old Alpha's mansion, that's where Victoria will have taken Xavier.""Assuming we're not too late," Elizabeth muttered.I felt the mate bond twist, a sharp spike of pain that made me stumble. Xavier was hurt. No, not hurt, emotionally devastated. Something terrible had just happened."He's in pain," I said. "We need to move faster.""We're going as fast as we can," James snapped, then immediately looked apologetic. "Sorry. I just... if anything happens to him because of what I did...""Then you'll spend the rest of your life making it right,
Xavier's POVThe water was freezing, but that wasn't what made my blood run cold. It was the look in my mother's eyes, not triumph, not cruelty, but something worse. Resignation."I'm sorry it had to be this way," she said, and her voice cracked. "I truly am.""Sorry?" I treaded water, my wolf screaming at me to attack, to escape. But something held me back. "You poisoned Thelma. You've been manipulating my entire life. You faked your own death and let me grow up thinking you were gone!""I did what I had to do to keep you alive!" Her composure shattered. "You don't understand, Xavier. You've never understood. Everything I've done, every terrible choice, every sacrifice, it was all to protect you!"Victoria laid a hand on my mother's shoulder, silencing her. "How touching. But we're running out of time. Xavier, I'm going to give you a choice. A real one, not like the illusions of choice you've been living with your whole life.""I'm not interested in anything you have to offer.""Not
Thelma's POVThe antidote had worked. I could feel my strength returning, my wolf finally able to push back against the poison. But something was wrong.James stood by my bed, smiling, but the smile didn't reach his eyes. And there was something in his hand, hidden behind his back."How are you feeling?" he asked, his voice too casual."Better," I said carefully, not sitting up fully despite wanting to. "Where's Xavier?""He'll be back soon. Had to take care of something urgent." James moved closer. "Thelma, I need to ask you something. Those past lives you have memories of... do you remember anything about a prophecy? Something called the Silver Wolf?"Every instinct I had screamed danger. "Why do you ask?""Just curious. Xavier mentioned you might know things from your past lives. Things that could help us understand what's happening." His hand shifted behind his back. "Did you know that Xavier carries three ancient bloodlines? That he might be something more than just an Alpha?"I
