"Attention, attention, Omegas! The Alpha King, Hector of the Lockwood Pack North, has passed away!"
My breath was heavy as my backpack repeatedly slammed against me while running back to what I call home. But it never felt like one for me.
Shit!
It had rained earlier, so the muddy ground clung to my shoes, but I paid no mind and kept running until I reached the wooden porches of our house, situated in the middle of a green forest.
I rested my hands on my knees, catching my breath and sweating.
"The Alpha King, Hector of the Lockwood Pack, has passed away."
It echoed in my head like a daydream. That's significant news! Like really big news!
I am an Omega in the Lockwood Pack North, and so are my parents. The death of the Alpha king must have caused chaos everywhere already.
I opened the door with the rusted doorknob, and my eyes fell on two people, my mother and father – looking into nothingness as if they had just seen a ghost.
I gulped as I stepped in, but it didn't feel like they cared because they never turned to look in my direction. I always felt alien in their midst, as if I was never part of the strange family to begin with.
Yes, this family was strange. Even though I don't understand much about parental love, there's an undeniable tension among us, pushing them away from me. I can't pinpoint what it is, but I've sensed it my whole life.
Daring to ask is out of the question; my mother would take offense as usual and beat me until I fall unconscious.
I bowed my head slightly. "I'm home, Mom, Dad."
Instantly, I received dagger stares from my mother's side-eye, thrown at me from across my father, who only growled.
Next thing I knew, two huge figures in black suits and horrifying face masks, resembling cult members, emerged from the hallway leading to the bedrooms. My heart sank from the aura they exuded, and my legs cracked against the wooden ground as I stepped back slowly.
"W ... who are they, dad?" I pointed, scared.
"Shut up, you little witch, and listen!" My mother barked at me as my eyes turned to her.
Her white and black eyes on her rough-aged face held so much hatred and bitterness towards me. I couldn't dare to speak but held my breath where I stood.
"The Alpha king of our pack is dead, Francesca. The Alpha king of the strongest pack in the world is dead! Do you know what that means?" She asked coldly, her eyes squeezing with focus on me.
"It is impossible," I mumbled.
"Exactly! The Alpha King Hector has lived for generations, since the fifteenth century to be precise. His shocking death has caused a world imbalance now."
Countless questions raced through my mind. Who are these men in black? Why does my father appear as though he's witnessed a ghost, silent and panting? And why does my mother harbor such intense hatred toward my presence?
"These men here." Her hands gestured toward the unfamiliar figures. "They are the warriors of the Alpha king. They are here to take you. In short, you have been selected as one of the Omegas to be buried alive with the Alpha king tonight."
What did I just hear? Buried alive with Alpha King Hector, whom I've never seen in person but only heard about as a terrible and cruel ruler during his reign?
My chest ached. I knew my mother hated me, but I couldn't fathom that she despised me enough to offer me up to be buried alive.
"Dad!" I snapped at him, seeking some understanding of what my mother was doing to me, tears threatening to cascade down my eyes. "Can't you see this? They are about to take me away. What wrong have I done?"
My dad wasn't as harsh to me as my mom. It seemed that each time she punished or maltreated me, he allowed it, because he was powerless in the situation, and I didn't know why.
"Just ... do as she says, please." His defeated voice crushed the little bit of hope I had left for surviving this horror.
"Dad..."
I glanced at my mom and witnessed a wicked smile escaping her lips. Anger consumed me, and before I could react further, I was approached, lifted off the ground, and flung over the shoulders of one of the Alpha warriors.
They carried me away while I screamed in agony for help. I didn't know why I was still fighting my fate when it had already been decided that I would die before my eighteenth birthday tomorrow.
TRENTIt is done. The plan had been set in motion. Not exactly as I had wanted, but still, it was fine.I walked towards my office and quickly dialed the Fountain Packs host line."CHANGE OF PLANS! HE IS COMING! I WANT YOU GUYS TO START MOVING NOW! ARRIVE TONIGHT!"FRANCESCAThe last thing I remembered seeing was the back of El's head. She was blocking me away from something. I don't quite remember everything clearly because everything is foggy as hell right now, as if I just drowned my ass in a bottle of alcohol.Worst of all, a huge headache was disturbing me as well.Fuck! What happened?I feel so fucking lazy.I feel so empty.I feel so tired.I was enjoying a delicious pot roast just a few moments ago. So what the heck is happening now?Where is El, and her stubborn attitude?Where is Trent?Don't tell me my beautiful moments spent with them came to an end quickly and Alexandros caught me again? What a confused state I'm in.Frost, can you hear me??I need you now to come and gui
TRENT"Stop talking like a little child. If you hadn't kissed her, things would have still remained the same. But no! You have to know there are consequences to actions, El. You are no longer nine years old!!!""SURE, TRENT! TAUNT ME WITH THAT! TAUNT ME WITH THE EXACT AGE I LOST MOTHER AND FATHER TO BE TAKEN CARE OF BY THE LIKES OF YOU!""El, I'm not trying to taunt you with our parents' death! But you need to grow up and stop putting yourself in unnecessary trouble because at the end of the day, I AM THE FUCKING ONE WHO WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO SOLVE IT! Dad and Mom left you with me, and I must take care of you!""BULLSHIT! TAKE CARE OF ME, MY ASS! I HATE YOU, TRENT! IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN DON'T DO THIS, DON'T DO THAT WITH YOU! I CAN'T EVEN LIVE WITHOUT SNEAKING OUT OF YOUR PRESENCE! STOP TAKING AWAY THE THINGS THAT BRING ME FUN!""I am only looking after your stubborn ass! Understand that, you brat!" I rubbed my forehead in frustration after realizing I just called her a brat."Look, I don
TRENT"Don't do anything stupid, El," I said softly and pleaded over our mindlink. She had never really listened to me, so I hoped she would this time. Yet, she disappointed me and went ahead to slap the meal off Francesca's mouth."Not on my watch!""El, stop!" I stood up from the chair and stretched my body over to the other side of the table, removing El's hand from pulling out more food from Francesca's mouth. She threw me off, but I didn't back down.Suddenly, she kissed Francesca's mouth and sucked out the food, then turned to me and spat everything on my face.Fuck! However, I wasn't going to back down until Francesca couldn't take it anymore from both of us and stood up from the chair. Her expression filled with shock and disgust that we had just used her mouth for all sorts of experiments."What the actual fuck is wrong with both of you?" She raised her voice, while I tightened my jaw."Francesca, are you alright? Do you feel dizzy, sleepy, lazy? Talk to me, bitch!" El reache
TRENT"YOU DID WHAT??" I asked El, without realizing my voice had been seriously raised."Sheesh! Take a breather, bro. It's not that deep! Even though she's sweet, though," she responded, giving Francesca a smile."Stop it!" Francesca punched her arm playfully.Francesca was smiling too!I don't think these girls even took it as anything.(A MINDLINK BETWEEN TRENT AND EL)"Are you out of your mind?? Why would you kiss our hostage?""Trent! I got bored and tried out something new! You're so jealous! And she's not even cheating on you with a man! Can't you share a little bit with your sister?!"El was being unreasonable. Again."Stop being unreasonable. You know we shouldn't get close to her. She is wanted by Alexandros, the man who put us and our ancestors in this situation! You can't be playing with his pet when we aren't ready!""What do you mean by that? He doesn't know our location!" El fired back."He said they're mates! You kissed her! He will feel the betrayal! What don't you ge

I had been experimenting vigorously since I woke up that morning. The only thing I've had is water. No breakfast, and now it was, in fact, afternoon. FRANCESCATime stopped, and we looked into each other's eyes. The next thing I felt was El placing her lips on mine. They were very soft. I couldn't close my eyes from the shock as she kissed me for the next two seconds. Then suddenly, on impulse, I jolted backwards, my breath becoming heavy as I watched her sit upright and stare at me innocently while I held a shocked expression on my face.Neither of us had anything to say for the next ten seconds, and trust me, it was very, very awkward."Oh, come on, it's not really that bad," El says, playing with her fingers and avoiding eye contact as she said it."Huh?" I pressed. Did she just say kissing me out of the blue isn't so bad? I never expected it in the first place. She didn't respond again and instead attempted to move closer to me.Each step she took forward, I took the same step backward from her.Until I couldn't anymore, and she crawled closer and closer, maintaining intense eye contact that I couldn't break away from until she
