Mia had been sat out the front to clear her head, everything was getting to much now. She was in shock that Fiona knew her mother. She had not seen her since she left so many years ago. Nobody knew if she were even alive still but having had that confirmed made Mia feel so many unwanted emotions and her mind was racing with questions she needed answers to.
Why would her mum leave her with those abusive people that were meant to be family. Why would she not take her with her? So many questions. Mia felt as if her head were going to burst. Fiona insisted that she never knew that Dawn had ever had a child. She was adamant that Mia had come into her life now for a reason. She was certain that it was her job to reunite Mia and her mother. Mia refused. She was scared and angry that her mother had not been there when she needed her the most. If her mother was still alive then surely she would know by now that Mia was missing? What if she went to her stepfather and said where Mia was hiding? She was convinced that he would kill her if he got his hands on her again. She had ran off with his money after all. All Mia knew right now was that she needed to get away from here. She could get back to Maria’s hotel and get her car and be gone before anyone could realise. They would be best off away from Mia anyway, all she seemed to do was bring trouble with her. Just as she was about to get up, she heard a vehicle pull up behind her. Her stomach sunk as she heard Cherry shout over to her. Wiping her face and trying to hide the fact that she had been crying, she looked away. Cherry ran over to her and looked worried for her friend. The others stood by the house watching while Kane went inside. Mia wanted to leave but they were all gawping and she felt anxious to move. Cherry touched Mia on the arm causing her to flinch away. “What’s going on, Mia?” Cherry asked offended by her coldness. “Cherry!” Kanes voice thundered from the house. The girls gasped and jumped into the minibus while Cherry walked up towards Kane. He was furious and Cherry needed to find out why. Mia did not move. She was frozen to the spot. Cherry found her mother looking upset on the sofa while Kane paced the floor with an angry look on his face. “What is it?” Cherry whispered, not sure if she really wanted to know. Kane stopped and looked at his mate. “That girl is a spy.” He accused, pointing straight behind Cherry. She turned around and frowned. Mia. What was he talking about? “Mia?” She questioned. Kane was beyond angry and Cherry knew if she did not sort the situation it would escalate and his wolf would take over. “What’s going on?” Cherry demanded to know shaking Mia’s shoulders. “I’m no spy. Who do you think you are? That woman you are talking about. The one in the photo. That’s my mother. She abandoned me and left me alone with a man who was supposed to be my father but beat me daily and kept me from the outside world and uncle who liked to abuse me.” Mia yelled at the top of her lungs, tears were streaming down her face and she was hysterical. Fiona stepped in between them and hugged Mia. She sobbed into her chest as Fiona attempted to soothe her. Cherry stood in disbelief while Kane rubbed his forehead and exhaled a deep breath. He did not say a word, neither did Cherry. “Wow what did I miss?” David walked through the doors to see the commotion. Fiona shook her head at him to leave it and he walked into the kitchen where Kane followed. “I thought she was a spy! Turns out it’s her mother.” Kane slammed the photo down on the counter. “Dawn is her mother.” “But Dawn never had children? I don’t understand!” David sat down and thought for a moment. “She’s telling the truth.” Fiona stated, coming into the kitchen. “Dawn is her mother.” Kane could not believe what he was hearing. Cherry fetched Mia a glass of water and sat out the back with her to get some privacy. “Your mum is a lovely lady. We never knew she had a daughter.” Cherry told her gently. Mia sniffled and wiped her nose with the scrunched up tissue. “So nice she left me with them?” Cherry did not have an answer for that. She could see how hurt and upset Mia was. It was a sensitive subject for Kane as his best friend had passed away in a rogue attack when they were younger. Dawn had been their pack doctor for years until she moved away with her mate. She has tried to save Daniel but it was to late. Kane never forgot how hard she had tried to fight for him. He had hated that she left the pack. “Kane was close to your mum.” Cherry informed Mia. She did not take her eyes off her shoes. She listened carefully, but did not feel like making eye contact. “Mia, I’m sorry you went through all that hell. I’m here for you, we all are.” Cherry reassured her friend and gave her a squeeze. Mia nodded. She knew that anyway, but she still felt confused about the whole situation. “Thanks, Cherry.” “Cherry? Are we going or what? We will be late?” Lulu stomped on and interrupted them rather rudely. Cherry scowled at her, she had the worst timing. “In a minute.” Cherry said slightly annoyed. Lulu huffed and went off like a spoilt child not getting her own way. “She’s such a brat.” Cherry whispered causing Mia to laugh out loud at her bluntness. “Wanna come still?” Mia looked at her pleading face and broke into a grin. “Ok, fine. Just this once though. I’m going to head back towards Maria tomorrow.” Mia had decided. Cherry was going to make sure she did not let that happen but did not say another word about it. “Leave it. It’s for another day. Right now we have a party to go get ready for. Wahooo!” Cherry exclaimed as Kane wondered into the lounge. “I just want to apologise for jumping to conclusions, Mia.” He offered her an apology which made her step back in surprise. “You would be welcome to come along to the party.” Mia nodded and the girls excitedly rushed out to the mini bus. Lulu clicked her seatbelt back in and rolled her eyes. “Finally.” She muttered under her breath causing Kane to look back at her and throw a warning look. She slumped back in her seat and kept quiet the whole journey to the pack house. The den was quiet as Mia sat in the glow of the fire, her newborn daughter nestled in her arms. The soft crackling of embers filled the room, mingling with the gentle rhythm of the baby's breathing. Jacob had stepped out for a moment, no doubt checking the perimeter of their territory, but Mia felt a sense of peace settle over her, a feeling of contentment that wrapped around her like a warm embrace. As she looked down at her sleeping child, a sense of wonder washed over her. This tiny life, so new and innocent, held within her the promise of a future filled with endless possibilities. Mia's heart swelled with love and gratitude, knowing that she and Jacob had created something truly magical together. The den door creaked open, and Jacob entered, his eyes sparkling with awe as he beheld the sight before him. He crossed the room in swift strides, dropping to his knees beside Mia and the baby, his gaze filled with adoration."She's perfect," Jacob whispered, his voice barely above a bre
The morning sun filtered through the sheer curtains, casting a warm glow over Mia's sleeping form. She stirred, slowly blinking her eyes open as the remnants of a vivid dream clung to the edges of her consciousness. A soft smile tugged at her lips as she reached out, her fingers brushing against the cool sheets beside her – Jacob must have already risen for the day.As Mia shifted to sit up, a sudden wave of nausea washed over her, causing her to clutch her stomach and squeeze her eyes shut. She took a few deep breaths, willing the queasiness to pass, but the sensation lingered, a persistent reminder that something felt... off.Frowning, Mia tried to recall if she had eaten anything unusual the previous day, but her mind came up blank. It was then that a flicker of realization began to dawn on her – the nausea, the fatigue, the subtle changes in her body that she had dismissed as mere stress.Could it be...?Her heart began to race as she mentally tallied the signs, her breath catching
Gentle beams of the morning sun pierced through the dense foliage of the forest surrounding the pack's territory, announcing the dawn of a new day. Mia awoke to the sound of birdsong, their melodic chatter a stark contrast to the emotional tumult of the previous day. Despite the visit to her mother stirring a whirlwind of feelings, there was a serene sense of hope that settled within her, soothing the raw edges of old wounds.Jacob stirred beside her, his sleepy eyes opening to meet hers. "Good morning," he murmured, his voice rough with sleep, yet filled with warmth. The bond they shared, always a palpable presence, seemed to deepen further in moments like these, grounding and uplifting Mia simultaneously."Good morning," Mia replied, her hand reaching out to trace the contour of Jacob’s jaw. Their shared look conveyed not just love but a mutual understanding of everything they had been through and the journey that lay ahead.Today, however, was not just another day. It marked the beg
In the vast expanse where the untamed wilderness met the fringes of civilization, the Horizon pack carved out its sanctuary. It was to this place that Abigail found herself banished, her past a shadow that clung to her steps, heavy with regret and defiance. The pack, under the leadership of Alpha Corbin, offered her refuge—but it was the kindness and understanding of Elias, the pack's second in command, that offered her a glimmer of hope for redemption. One crisp morning, as dawn painted the sky in hues of gold and cerise, Elias approached Abigail during her solitary wanderings along the edge of the pack's territory. "The wilderness is a great teacher," he began, his voice gentle yet carrying an undercurrent of strength. "It teaches us about resilience, about the strength that comes from facing our hardships head-on. You've been given a second chance, Abigail. Not many receive such a gift."Abigail regarded him warily, unused to being addressed without contempt or suspicion. "And what
The dusk had painted the sky in hues of orange and purple, a serene backdrop to the day's end. Antonio, known among his kin as the Lycan King, stood at the edge of the forest that bordered the pack's territory, his gaze lost in the horizon's silhouette. Despite his aging frame, he emanated a sense of timeless strength and authority, commanding respect from all who knew him.Jacob approached him, his steps measured and respectful. Despite their previous interactions, marked by goodwill and understanding, this meeting carried a different weight for Jacob. It was not just as the Alpha of his pack or as Mia's chosen mate that he came but as a man seeking the approval of the elder who had seen generations rise and fall, who had guided his family through tumultuous times with wisdom and courage."Antonio," Jacob greeted, his tone conveying both respect and an underlying nervousness.Antonio turned, his expression softening as he laid eyes on the younger man. "Jacob," he acknowledged, nodding
The journey to the hospital was enveloped in a thick, silence, one that was filled with a mixture of apprehension and a flickering hope. The sun set in a blaze of color, casting long shadows that stretched across the road, mirroring the complex emotions that interlaced within Mia’s heart. Sitting beside her in their vehicle was Jacob, his presence a steady reassurance of support and strength. His hand found hers, their fingers intertwining as if to say, "I’m here, no matter what lies ahead."Jacob squeezed Mia's hand as they entered the hospital, his loving eyes offering silent encouragement. They made their way through the sterile corridors, the antiseptic smell mingling with the low murmur of voices and the occasional beep of medical equipment, a constant reminder of the fragility of human life. Finally, they stood outside Dawn's room, a deep breath drawn by Mia as she prepared to face her mother, to bridge the gap that years of misunderstandings and hurt had created.
