Sean paced around the window and constantly stopped to peek through the blind blades. He would sigh and continue pacing again and then he would repeat staring out the window once more. A knocked on the door made him jump and he glanced at Rasmus who was lying on the floor to see the man’s red eyes on him. Rasmus shook his head at him and he nodded, they could already tell who was at the door by their scent and so Sean cleared his throat and went to open the door. He wasn’t surprised to see Milly there and she was carrying the bunny he had given her four days ago. “Milly, what are you doing here?”
“I came to say thank you properly and also,” she glanced behind her and it was then that Sean saw her mother. He cleared his throat and stood erect, “mom wanted to thank you too.”
“Where is your mother?” the woman asked.
Sean cleared his throat once more and glanced at Irene and Aliyah’s bedroom. Ever since that night with the mysterious woman, Irene has hardly climbed out of the bed. She had only managed to cook up a potion which she gave Rasmus to dilute the spell on him but she was constantly complaining of chest pain. “She is tending to my sister.”
“Can you get her?”
“I’m sorry I can’t, my sister needs her.”
“Oh okay,” the woman nodded. “I just want to apologize for the way I spoke to her the other night. Milly told me that you bought a new bunny for her. I truly appreciate that because to be honest, it would have taken a long time before I could buy another for her. Thank you.”
“It’s nothing. Mom told me you were pretty worked up that night, it’s the least we could do.”
“Thank you, send my regards to her, okay?”
“Of course.”
“Thank you again. I have heard your dad call you Sean,” Milly said and he nodded. “Well Sean, you are welcome to come play with me and Mr. Whiskers the second whenever you want.”
“That would be nice,” Sean said and they left.
He closed the door with a sigh and heard Rasmus behind him, “that is not good. We are not supposed to get close to any human, remember?”
“I know but she is just a girl. I followed her mom to work and I knew buying her a new bunny would take her a while and besides, we owe them that, we took their first one.”
“I know Sean but you understand the situation we are in. It is better to endanger the life of a bunny than theirs. We don’t know who we are up against now and we can’t let them seeing the girl or her mother as a bait. You know our kinds, they wouldn’t blink an eye killing them off if they think it would make us submit.”
Sean nodded, “you are right, I will keep a distance.”
Aliyah’s room door was thrown open and Irene stepped out of it, supported by Aliyah. “We can’t stay here,” she shook her head. Her gray eyes looked urgent as she said, “they are coming.”
Rasmus rushed to his feet on seeing them immediately and went to hold Irene. “Where can we go? You are not feeling well.”
“I don’t know, but we must leave this neighborhood entirely. Listen to me,” she grabbed onto Rasmus’s shirt. “They are coming and I can’t do anything now, I can’t perform any spell. If we stay here, they are going to catch us. I don’t know how long it will be, they might even be on their way now so please, let us go.”
“What about the location spell, will you be able to cast your spell here and prevent them finding us while using it?” Sean asked.
Irene shook her head. “If I make any spell now Sean, I’m afraid I won’t survive it. I think we will have to grab anything personal, we will have to leave with them and when I regain my strength I can then cast the spell. Please, we have to leave as soon as possible.”
Sean jumped to action immediately, “alright, I will get everything ready, you guys can sit on the bed while Rasmus and I pack,” he announced and the women nodded.
Thirty minutes later, they were leaving the house. Rasmus carried Irene and Sean carried their personal belongings and Aliyah walked on her own. When they got on the down floor, they saw Milly and her mother and they frowned on seeing them. “You are leaving?” Milly asked and her mother glanced at Irene who tried not to see her face by looking away.
Sean smiled and nodded, “yeah, we have somewhere else to be so…”
“But…but…”
“Milly, come girl,” her mother pulled her closer and the little girl pouted her lips as the tears threatened to fall.
Sean felt bad seeing her like that and bowed to her height, caressing her hair but then Rasmus voice rang. “We don’t have time Sean.” He nodded and smiled at the girl, leaning forward and kissing her forehead. He gifted her another smile before getting up and adjusting the bag he was carrying. With that, he turned and joined his family and they walked on human pace because they could still feel Milly’s gaze on them as well as the passersby.
“Where to now?” Aliyah asked.
“I don’t know but we must leave this neighborhood,” Irene said.
“At this rate, do you think we can escape them?” Sean asked, cursing at how slow they had to move. He would definitely prefer taking his wolf form and running down the street under the beautiful twilight.
“They would be retiring to bed soon, we just have to hang on till then,” Rasmus answered.
“But where are we going?” Aliyah repeated. “We can’t leave without having a destination, don’t you think?”
“Wait,” Irene said, her head sprang up from where she was resting on Rasmus’s back. “Oh God,” her voice wavered.
“What is it?” Sean and Aliyah asked, scanning around them.
“They are here,” she answered.
“What, the humans are still…”
“They don’t care and neither should we now. Run Rasmus,” Irene yelled and Rasmus started running, sprinting down the street like a black shadow. Sean and Aliyah shifted into their wolves and Sean grabbing the bag with his mouth, they ran down the street after Rasmus. Humans’ screams and gasps filled everywhere as they passed. They heard them running into their houses, shutting their doors. Everywhere was in chaos but they didn’t care, they need to get away as soon as possible.
However, they saw someone in a long black cloak with the hood covering their face standing in front of them. They screeched to a stop and turned to go back where they came from but the deranged rogues were coming up to them. “Well, well, well, now aren’t you a sight for sore eyes, princess?” a male’s voice asked and the face was lifted up to reveal yellow eyes with black lines. “Do you know how long I have been waiting to meet you personally?”
“It’s him,” Irene whispered and she patted Rasmus’s back to put her down. Now matter what, she mustn’t let him know that she was weak, she has to put up a front. “We meet again, Demon king, or should I even call you that?”
“What is that supposed to mean?” Kaiden asked.
“I don’t know, I mean, what is a demon king without the eternal fire?” she raised an eyebrow.
Kaiden’s eyes flashed brighter yellow, “how do you know that?”
“Well, I’m a pure blood witch, seeing visions is what I do best,” she replied, although she had to thank the mysterious woman for that information, in as much as she had purposely brought it up now to know if it was legit but the man’s reaction has proven that. “You are not the demon king and it’s high time you stopped claiming to be what you are not.”
“Hmm, lack respect much Irene?” A voice said behind her and Irene turned to receive the shock of her life when she saw the white-haired woman with blue mixed with green eyes. “Long time no see, it’s been like what, nine hundred years?”
“I should have known, of course it’s you, mother,” Irene replied, revealing the woman’s identity to her in disgust.
Sean and the rest of them where surprised at the revelation. While Aliyah had recognized the woman as the one that kidnapped her that time in the human realm, she never thought she was Irene’s mother.
“No time for chitchat, let’s go princess,” Kaiden said and to the rogues, he ordered, “kill them.”
“Over my dead body,” Irene said as she clasped her hands together and started muttering an incantation.
“No,” Rasmus shouted, grabbing her hands to stop her after recalling what she had told Sean earlier about casting any spell but it was too late. A bright light was already evolving around them and seeing that, Kaiden and Melissa shouted ‘No’ at the same time. Melissa started muttering her own incantation, her eyes shining blue while Kaiden took his demon form and stormed at them, his hand reaching to grab onto Aliyah’s fur in other to pull her out, however, a big blast sounded, throwing him some feet away from them. It was the same spell Irene had used on him when he paid her a visit in her hut.
When he got up from where he landed, they were no longer there, just like he had expected and he cursed and growled in annoyance. “Find them, they must be somewhere in the woods, find them and find them now!”
Edward kept pacing around, waiting for the voice to come to him again. Now that his memory was back, he couldn’t stop his worry of how Aliyah is doing. He had been weak when he carried them away with the tornado but he doesn’t know if he succeeded in taking them to safety. Did the rogues catch up with them? And the demon king and the witches, did they find them? He thought of the High chiefs and the High Howlers, he had purposely left Malachi alive with only inflicting a wound he knew he would never heal as a second generation because he wouldn’t want him chasing after Aliyah but Damien had escaped him with just pure luck. Now as he thought about everything, he just wished he could burn this whole place down and go back to her. He thought of the look she gave him that day, the pain and fear in her eyes when he was falling. He failed his promise, he knows that now and the pain of not knowing how she is was deriving him insane. “Where the hell are you?” He yelled at the smoky clouds. Sh
Edward glanced at the three strange doors and gulped. “Why only one shot?”“Because, you will enter the one you chose and only when the door closes behind you can you know where you are. When any of these doors closes, none of them will ever open for the same soul again.” Selene explained.Edward gulped once more, there was nothing to even give him a clue or something like that. “Can’t you give me a hint, I mean, how can I know which is which?”“Edward, how many people are given back the chance to come back to life?” Selene asked and when he couldn’t answer, she continued. “This is already a hint as it is because you are given a second chance to cheat death. If you really want to be alive, your conscience would guide you. Anywhere you find yourself, is where you are supposed to be and there is nothing I or any other god can do about it. I really want you to be alive Edward, because only you can save my creation. But it doesn’t matter if I want you to if you don’t yourself. What is tha
Aliyah frowned on seeing the black hair and black eyes before her eyes took in the form of the boy in front of them. ‘Steven?’“There is no time. The rogues will be here soon and so will the High Howlers warriors. I have seen them, just the two of you will never win. Come on,” Steven said, turning his back then to walk away.Aliyah glanced at Sean who in turn turned to her as well, ‘Should we trust him?’ she asked.Sean shrugged his big head, ‘he spared my life, I guess so.’“Sean,” Rasmus called as he wanted to know the boy’s decision having not met the other wolf boy before. Sean nodded at him and he nodded back, reaching down to pick Irene up again.“Come on Sean,” Steven called, having realized that there weren’t following him. Sean moved first and the rest followed.‘You think this is a good idea Sean, remember you said High Alpha told him to make sure you didn’t leave the pack. What if he found out that he had spared you and so told him to find us if he wants to redeem himself?’
“If we raise the barriers here, I am sure that it would stop the nightwalkers from jumping inside, at least for enough time for us to show up,” an Elder said, pointing on a draft book he had made some drawings on. “That would give us an advantage over them for some time.”The other elders nodded and Alan stared at the plan book, thinking. He was still wondering how they would be able to get that ready before the next attack when he heard in his mind, ‘oh my God’ his eyes widened immediately as he recognized the voice as his daughter’s. He has never heard her again since she left the hall that day with Prince Edward and now he could suddenly hear her? He concentrated his energy and realized that he could feel her. What is she doing? Could she be coming home?“Alpha?” Aton asked seeing that the man hasn’t said anything since the elder finished his presentation.Glancing at Aton, Alan remembered Sean and he quickly searched for his presence with his daughter’s only to discover that he wa
“Where are they?” Kaiden yelled when he saw Melissa walking up to him.Melissa sighed and shook her head. “We lost them, are you sure they came to the woods?”“Are you doubting my efficiency?” he growled.“Of course not,” she shook her head. “I just want to know because we followed them immediately and yet there is no sign of them.”“My energy told me where they were and I am telling you now that they are in this realm, we just can’t find them yet. Oh but I will, I really will and when I do, I will make them pay for stressing me this long. They can always run, but they can never hide, who is going to protect them from me? Absolutely nobody,” he smirked despite the anger he feels. Glancing at Melissa, he scoffed, “I still don’t understand how your own daughter can be stronger than you despite being way older than her.”Melissa rolled her eyes, “adopted daughter and besides, she is a pure blood and I’m not, so what do you expect?” she scoffed and walked away.Kaiden snickered, he knew r
Genevieve stormed into the conference hall and her red eyes went to Damien immediately. “Care explaining the meaning of this rubbish?”“Genevieve, calm down,” Malachi said from his seat and sighed. “We can’t solve anything with a fight.”“What do you mean by we can’t solve anything with a fight? They started this, so by right they should provide us an explanation. Only the rogues were turned before and they didn’t give a damn because the rogues are the rejected ones but what about us, no nightwalker council is rejected but every second of the day now, a council leader reports that their citizens are being turned. Malachi, they are bigger than us in number and reproduce more than we do and even earlier than us, if this continues then very soon nightwalkers will be history, don’t you understand it?” Genevieve demanded.“I understand what you are trying to say lady Genevieve, but you are forgetting something. Night howlers are not the ones that made Nightwalkers deranged,” Damien said.“
“I strongly believe that this is not a good idea,” Steven said to the boy following behind him as they made their way in the tunnels underground.“Please, it’s been nine days since I last talked to her and with Irene still unconscious, I don’t know how many days will still pile up by the time she wakes up,” Sean said.“I have never snuck into Blue moon pack before. I only know the tunnel that would get us to the front gate but I don’t know the one that would take us inside. And before you say I should take you to the front gate, know that you can never go inside without being spotted. The front gate is crawling with High alpha warriors.”“I don’t need to sneak in, I just need to get close enough for her to hear me,” Sean replied and Steven shrugged.“If you say so,” he replied and they continued down the tunnels silently.‘Sean, what are you doing boy?’ Sean gasped when he heard Alan’s voice in his mind.Steven turned to him with a raised eyebrow, “you okay?” and Sean nodded.‘Alpha,’
“Careful,” Steven said, rushing over to take the bucket of water from Aliyah. “You shouldn’t do things like this.”Aliyah rolled her eyes, “I am not a weakling, Steven.”“I know and I never said you are. In fact, you are the strongest female I know, I guess whether you are the alpha or not, being an alpha bloodline makes you one.”“Hmm,” Aliyah scoffed, “coming from a boy he had mocked me for being a girl.”Steven sighed, not chuckling to the joke as he would have. “Aliyah, you have been here for nearly two weeks now, when will you see that I have changed and not the brat I was when we first met?”“Oh, you knew you were a brat?” She teased.“Aliyah,” Steven whispered and she laughed. He caught on to her humor a little and put down the bucket of water he was carrying. “I would have ordered the omegas to connect a tap in the house but you know…” he sighed and ran his fingers through his black hair. “I really hope this all end soon.”“Yeah,” Aliyah exhaled loudly. “I really want to see A
