Chapter 23: Caught

My whole body froze when I heard Jacques’ voice. Oh no! I was caught. I can see his eyes getting busy. His glances came back and forth, from me and to the place where we were both earlier. I know that he has a lot of questions, and I do, too. What was he doing there? And how did he know John? How come he’s in a gang again? Doesn’t he have any care for himself? He was in trouble before because of gangs. And he’s doing it for the second time. I wanted to smack his head right there and then, but he dragged me in out of the garage. I don’t know where we are as I just let him guide us on our way. I knew that he was doing this to save me, and I thanked him for it. His grip tightened when I tried to loosen it a bit. Does he think that I’ll run away? Maybe. That is my last resort. If things don’t go according to my plan, I will leave right away, even though I’m not familiar with this place.
