Lyra’s POV
"Are you there? Hello?" I could hear someone's voice as I opened my eyes carefully. Weirdly, I was on something very soft and comfy. From the feeling, I noticed it was a bed or something and not on the hard grounds of the castle.
"Hello , Can you hear me? I looked up to see a girl, blue-eyed, with a round face and cheeks as big as eggs. She still had her hand waving over my face when I jumped away from the bed, looking at the surroundings. I was in someone's house.
"Oh, finally, you are awake." I gazed down at my body to find myself in clothes just barely enough to fit me.
"Who are you? Where am I? What did you do to me? How long have I been asleep for?" I questioned while shouting like a mad one, heading backwards, trying to find a gasp in the situation.
"Calm down with the questions, Miss. First, I would really appreciate a thank you instead of the questions."
"A thank you?"
"Yes"
"Why would I thank you for what I don't even know about?"
"Are you always like this?"
"Like what?"
"Not being appreciative of things?"
"I don't even know you, and you expect me to thank you. I demand an explanation of how I got here !!" I reverted back. With my hands clenched at my sides, I was on high alert. From the palace grounds to an unknown room. Nowhere was safe for a weak werewolf.
"I see," she said as she walked towards a chair at the other end of the room. Opposite the chair was a table the length of the chair, holding a handbag on its surface. She turned the chair around to face me and sat down.
"My name is Sasha Copperman."
"Copperman?" I murmured bluntly while nodding. I don't know why.
"Yes, Copperman, my family was part of one of the most blessed packs in the whole of Oceania."
"I am really sorry to abrupt you during this whole copper thing, but that's not what I asked you. What am I doing here? Am I dead? Is this the afterlife?. "
"I am really sorry. My apologies. I tend to get distracted sometimes. The chief maiden said to attend to you, and when I was done taking you home, I didn't know where you lived, so I brought you here. You were out cold, all curved up like monkey tales, and no, you are very much alive," she said with a chuckle.
"The chief maiden?" She was the one who knocked me out in the first place. It's very obvious that this girl was lying. She would never do something like that. Care for a weak one.
"Seems so."
"I don't believe you."
"No one would; even I myself couldn't believe it when the chief maiden asked me to take care of someone like you. Well, from my analysis so far, I have discovered that you are unable to take the werewolf's form or the final form."
"My head fell as she said those words. "You examined me?"
" Yes. Apparently because of how weak you are. Your regenerative cells are really slow. The force of the attack broke most parts of your body, especially your spine. If she had left you there to heal, you would have died before you even started healing. Without her, I don't think you would even be alive, standing right here, standing opposite me.
"She was the one who put me in that position in the first place! She should have just left me to end this miserable life of mine!! " I shouted as I dropped tears. The weak ones meant nothing to the pack, so ending it was the solution.
"I know all about it; she told me everything. Just seeing you, I know what you have gone through. You expect to see a prince charming at the ceremony, right? You kept talking about it in your sleep.
I threw my head up, immediately wiping my tears. I wouldn't want to miss my own mating ceremony; no one would. "The ceremony... Omg, I am going to be late. I haven't even picked a dress yet. I looked down at the little oversized dress I had on me.
"My maid's dress. Can I have it back?" I had to finish business with the mysterious Sasha quickly so I could head on to the ceremony. I didn't even know the time. Now that I had calmed down, I could see the room more clearly. It had the structure of a hospital ward, only having a bed, a set of tables and chairs, and no windows. I couldn't check what time it was.
"Oh that? It wouldn't be necessary anymore. You will find out why soon enough. Do you really want to get a mate that much?
The maid's dress was something I had always had to wear in the palace; losing it could put me in even bigger trouble. Her telling me that it was necessary didn't make any sense.
"Can I ask why it won't be necessary anymore? I need it," replying, not answering the question about my mate.
"You will know soon enough, Miss," she replied calmly as she rose from the chair and walked towards me. Her eyes have changed in color.
"Right now, all I need from you is..."
I didn't wait to listen to the rest as I raced towards the door.
"Stay still, miss. It's not going to hurt you." No one had to tell me she was planning something with those words. Passing by the edge, I made my way to the door.
"Just a little more, almost there." It felt like my mind was running on a hot volcano. I couldn't understand what was going on. She helps me. And now her eyes change, and she tells me to stay still. No one in his or her f*cking mind would want to wait after seeing and hearing that.
I stretched my hand, grabbing a hold of the handle, and used my shoulder to push my weight on the door. The door fell off with a huge crash, dishing out a lot of dust.
It was quiet. The dust cleared, and I could smell the scent of people around—the werewolf scent. I was in luck. I stood up, wiping the dust off my body, ready to run again, when I was presented with the whole town looking at me.
I was in the palace and in the
very center of the ceremony.
"It has been chosen; she's the Alpha's Luna."
Alexander’s POVA Day Before The CeremonyI looked into the mirror, admiring my handsome self. “I hope that delusional goddess gives me a strong mate—a mate not as strong as me, though.”“From the rumors, you should be feeling the bond between the two of you a day before the ceremony." My beta Jasper, who was also my right hand, replied to me while standing by the entrance of my door. He was always beside me, ever since I became the Alpha."Do you feel a bond with anyone, Jasper?""I did feel a sensation when I woke up," he said, looking at me with a smile on his face."Why do I feel like you are not talking about something relating to mating?""What are you insinuating, Alexander?" We both burst into laughter. Even if he was my beta, he had always called me by my name. He was the only one permitted to call me without saying "Alpha.".We were the best of friends through the lowest of lows. We didn't have wealthy parents. My father had died during the last war between another pack, whi
Alexander’s POVBecoming the alpha that day became the biggest change in my life. I had people bowing down whenever I passed; I could have any maiden of my choice. The life of the Alpha was something I wouldn't give up until I died. Who would? This power was something I had always longed for...........A few months passed, and I had gotten used to the royal life. To my utmost surprise, I was informed that Jasper was still conscious. They had found him breathing when they went to retrieve his body. His wound had been healing slowly but barely enough to heal him completely, so they had taken him to the healers mountains to get him back into shape."I thought it was a fight to the death. You could have left him there to die.""The main elder ordered to save him says he's going to be useful to you, my Lord." The messenger who was assigned to deliver the message had his head down. Who would look the Alpha in the face?."Oh, really? I really regret not delivering that final blow. I was a f
Lyra’s POVI had crushed the doors of the room to find myself at the ceremony; how is that possible? I turned around to find the room where I had come from, surprisingly. It was the room where the chief maiden had almost beaten me to death. No way!! I was just running away from Sasha a minute ago. I had so many questions running through my mind.I had to run away to get away from whatever Sasha had planned to execute on me. And some way or another, I ended up back at the palace after breaking through the door. Was it a dream? It felt like my mind was playing with me. I prayed it was just my mind playing with me as I decided not to think about what happened with Sasha and face the problem at hand.I finally left my thoughts to find everyone looking at me. Everyone, including the main elders and the chief priest, It was very obvious that I had disturbed the ceremony, as everyone gave me that look. I never wanted this kind of attention. "I am really sorry, hehe. You can continue, she sa
Lyra’s POVI was startled and took a step back. Athena was someone I’d never liked. She had put me through all kinds of pain and torture right from the days of our childhood.I bowed my head, not out of respect but because I was trying to avoid anything that would ruin my special day.“Lyra, dear, I wonder how you got that dress. Weak wolfless omegas aren’t supposed to wear the same quality of fabric as me, let alone the same design.” She smirked irritably as she spewed her rubbish.“I don’t have time for this; I don’t have time for any of this today. Get out of my way,” I said, trying to put on a tough expression. This was the one day where I wasn’t going to let anybody mess up things for me.“Are you… perhaps talking to me? You must have been beaten really hard this time. I think you’ve forgotten who you’re talking to.”She responded, standing in an intimidating posture with both her hands crossed.“It’s quite simple to understand; this is the palace, not your house. You have no righ
Lyra’s POV“Me?!” I asked another question; I needed an explanation. There was no way to explain what just happened; it had to be a mistake.“Did I stutter, Lyra?” The formally cloaked woman inquired with an eyebrow raised. I was so caught up in my own surprise that I didn’t realize that the room had become pin-drop silent. It was like a moment frozen in time. No one said anything; I was sure everyone had the same question on their minds at that point.“No, you didn’t; it’s just… I’m a lowly maid; I’m a weak omega,” I responded.“Questioning my knowledge?” she inquired again, moving closer to my face this time. I didn’t know how she got so close to me at the back, where I stood for a split second.“No, no, of course not; I’d never do that,” I said to her. What puzzled me the most was the fact that Alpha Alexander didn’t utter a word. He was expressionless, and he sat on the throne and tapped his fingers on the bronze arms. The room was still completely and utterly quiet. The moon godd
Alexander’s POV.I had a feeling that the moon goddess would play a dirty trick on me. I’m glad I told Jasper to carry out a background check on every maiden that was going to be present at the ball. I wanted to know for myself who I was being paired with. She paired me with the absolute best person in this room. The cousin of my lover.Sometime ago, I met Athena. I found her attractive, but I didn’t see her as someone I would want as my mate. Eventually I started sleeping with her; I loved her body and nothing else.Around the time we were together, I came across Lyra for the first time. I took a bit of interest in her, and I wanted to know what her body felt like too. At that point, I mentioned it to Athena, and I found out they were cousins.Athena took the time to explain everything to me, and I knew immediately that I didn’t want to be with someone like that. Her lips shook as she tried to speak; she was frozen at the sight of me kissing her cousin.“Why?” Lyra asked again in a s
Lyra’s POVI ran fast. I ran till I couldn’t breathe anymore, but I kept running. I couldn’t go to the place that I usually went whenever I was sad, so I just ran, hoping I could run till I just disappeared.“Why? Why is it always me? Mom and Dad, is this the life you wanted for me when you both left me all alone in this world? I’m suffering so much,” I agonized as I ran out of town and into the woods. I was struggling with breathing and talking at the same time. I couldn’t think, so I just voiced out all my thoughts. “Where am I even going? Do I have a home outside the sad one I know? At this rate, I am going to be salvaged by rogue wolves.”I kept running, much slower now because I couldn’t feel myself passing out. I lost my footing and fell again. Just in front of me, I heard faint country music and saw lights when I opened my eyes. It was a bar.I got up, dusted my clothes, and went in. It was a quiet bar, with two customers left: a woman and a strange-looking man.I asked for dri
Lyra’s POV“I get why you’d ask a question like that, but no, I do not practice magic,” he said, sitting on the side of the bed to make me feel tense. “I am going to transfer my life essence to you. It’ll help you heal faster.” The stranger added.“You’re talking about—” “precisely,” I was interrupted by him.“But I’m a weak omega you picked up in the woods. My body is too impure for you, too weak. You’re an alpha right; essence transfer is a skill that can only be used by alphas.” I concluded, clenching the bed sheets to myself.“I feel obligated to save you. I don’t know why; I just feel pushed to,” he responded.“But I don’t want to go home. I don’t want to go to my pack,” I agonized. “Do you have anywhere else to go then?” he questioned.I scoffed. He was indeed right; I had nowhere else to go. It was either going back home or dying out here in the woods. “If you can, then please help me,” I gave in. I pleaded with him. I grabbed the hands of a stranger I didn’t know. The way esse
