Chapter 1

Knock knock 

I could feel my heart racing as I stood in front of the door, “ You can come in” I heard a male voice say from the other side of the door. 

“Good morning sir,” I said as I walked into the office, “I’m Mia, the new secretary”

“Oh the new secretary. You can sit down,”  he said with a smile. Not only do I get to work in Zeus Enterprises, one of the biggest companies in the city, but I also get a handsome boss as a topping.

 “ I'm Dave the head manager” 

“ I know you were informed that you will be resuming work as my secretary but there have been some changes”

Oh no I can't go through another rejection.

 “you won't be working for me, you will be working for the CEO”

I sat there in shock, trying to process what I just heard. Did I just get promoted on the first day of work?

 Universe I forgive you for the rejections in the past, you made up for it big time.

“ Miss Mia, are you listening?” 

 “ Yes sir”

 “ Would you still take the job?”

 Hell yeah, I would be crazy if I rejected it  

“Yes sir, I would take the job.”  

“ Ok. Since we have settled that, these are some conditions attached to the job”.

“For the next three weeks, you will be resuming work at Mr Mason’s house, starting tomorrow. Then on the fourth week, you will be resuming at the office.”

 “Umm sir, may I ask why?” he looked at me a little surprised then his face was normal again

“When you get to the house you will find out. Also, you will get your driver, he will be picking you up around 7 am and dropping you home after closing hours”  he kept on rambling about the details of the job and I tried my best to pay attention but it was hard, I was so excited.

“Miss Mia, the driver will be taking you to Mr Mason’s house” 

“Now?”

“ Yes, is there any issue”

“No.”

“Ok, that will be all, the driver is waiting at the parking lot, this is the plate number.” He gave me a paper with the plate number written on it and wished me good luck. It was funny He wished me good luck but I needed it. 

I started getting more nervous as I left the building and walked towards the parking lot. 

It was easy to find the car, I saw a man in a driver's uniform standing close to the car with the plate number.

“Good morning ma, are you Miss Mia the new secretary?”

“Yes, I am”

He opened the door and signalled me to enter the car, “I will be taking you to the boss's house.” He closed the door after me and entered the driver's seat. 

I closed my eyes as I relaxed on the chair, settling into the moment. It felt surreal to me, after the horrible events in my past it felt like I was getting too much from life. 

As I tried to enjoy the ride, the thought of my new boss slipped in. I couldn’t help but wonder what kind of man I would be working for, is he one of those annoying and frustrated bosses or the cool boss?

Universe I know you have given me a good job and other benefits as toppings but can you also give me a cool boss, I would even accept a flirty boss, please not an annoying one. 

“Miss Mia we are here” 

“Thank you, sir,” I said as I got down from the car.

As I approached the house, I couldn’t help but be captivated by the majestic building. The mansion had an imposing entrance that was furnished with a rare design. 

The front garden, the water fountain, the circular driveway, and the massive custom garage screamed luxury.

Entering into the house, I felt a blend of humility and curiosity, as the warm glow of the chandeliers filled the hallway, the Persian rugs embellished the marble floor and the sweeping staircase hinted at the vastness of the mansion’s secret.

They say you can define a man by the way he manages his house and with what I am seeing right now, I can say that my boss is going to be a neat freak. 

The house is so white and organised, I feel like the only dirt in the house. 

The air carried a subtle scent of wealth and success and I couldn't shake the awareness that this was a world that was different from the one I know.

I was so engrossed with the beauty of the house, that I did not hear the housekeeper walk-in “Good morning, you must be the new secretary” she said as she welcomed me with a motherly smile.

“Yes, I am Mia, the new secretary”  I said as we shook hands

“I’m Martha, the housekeeper. Mr Mason is still in his room, so you have to wait for him in the study room.” She gave me directions to the study room and went back to the kitchen.

As I navigated the lavish corridors, I made a mistake in direction, which led me to a door that was slightly ajar. Assuming it was the study room, I pushed the door open and walked into the room.

Sunlight filtered through the heavy curtains, causing a warm glow over the room. The paintings on the wall are so beautiful, I wondered how much a piece would cost. A king-sized bed took center stage, surrounded by furniture and decor that were carefully chosen.

 Wait, Study rooms don’t have beds in them, right?

Caught in the moment I didn’t notice someone walk out of the closet 

“Who the hell are you?”

My heart skipped a beat when I heard the masculine voice, as I turned around to see the owner of the voice, I was too stunned to speak. 

The sight before was too appealing to my eyes, I couldn’t help but stare.

There He was, standing on his crutches  HALF NAKED! The only thing covering him was his undershorts. 

I never knew someone could look so hot  on crutches 

“Are you deaf, who are you?” 

Embarrassment flushed on my cheeks as I realised my mistake “Umm.. sorry for the intrusion,” I said in a high-pitched voice 

“I'm..  the new secretary”

Why am I stuttering 

“The new secretary in my bedroom,” he said in disgust 

“Sorry I was trying to find your study room,I didn’t mean to invade your privacy.”

“Get out. GET OUT!” His voice sent chills down my spine as I ran out of the room. I could still hear him cursing out as I ran down the hallway, I knew I was screwed
