Lucas ended up ordering for me after asking me a couple of questions about what I liked and didn’t like. I had been nervous about what they would bring me but I was pleasantly surprised by the fish and asparagus cooked in a butter sauce that was sat in front of me. Lucas had ordered something similar that came with pasta.
“So what are your plans now that you are home?” he asked me.
I took a bite of my fish looking up at him shrugging before I sat my fork down, “I don’t know honestly. My plan is to move here to the City but first I have to find a job that will pay enough for me to live here, or at least drive back and forth.” I looked up, “so, I guess time will tell.”
Lucas took a sip of his drink, “I actually know of an office where they are looking for a secretary. I could set you up an interview if you want.”
Looking up at him I saw his dark eyes watching me, “I would appreciate it but I don’t want you...”
He shook his head, “I’m sure you’re ready to move out from your parents anyways right?”
I nodded, God he didn’t know how badly I was ready to move. Cody was driving me insane. We ate the rest of our meal making small talk. The food was amazing and when our bill came he just pulled out his card not even bothering to look at how much it cost.
As we headed back to the tattoo shop I looked over at him, “so if you're taking me home where are you going while I get my tattoo.”
He looked over at me and gave me a little smirk, “oh I’ll be around don’t worry.”
I made a face at him but found myself laughing at him as he grinned over at me. There was something wild and dangerous about him and even though something screamed at me to stay far away from him it only made me want to be closer. Sighing I knew that was my problem with men in general, I always went after the bad ones. I had a thing for bad boys and Lucas Blake screamed bad boy.
When we arrived at the shop Lucas didn’t wait he just lead me to the back. I opened my mouth to say something about checking in but he led me to one of the rooms where Xander was waiting on us. Looking up at me Xander motioned for me to sit, “I have an idea of what you want. I always put my own spin on things. You cool with that?” I nodded at him as he sat down. “I figured black and maybe a little white. Did you want color?”
Shaking my head no I looked up at him, “no that’s what I wanted.”
Nodding he pulled out a marker, “shoulder blade right?” When I nodded at him he told me to turn sideways in the chair and he began to draw a design on my skin. Minutes later he handed me a mirror to see what he drew. I had to stand up to use the wall mirror but I was happy with what he drew. It was rough but I knew it was just an outline. As I sat back down he reached down and begun opening the things he needed.
Xander had me sit in his chair sideways leaned over onto the armrest that he moved up. As the tattoo gun came to life I glanced up at Lucas finding him watching me. I held my breath until the gun touched my skin. It was a feeling that I couldn't describe, it didn’t hurt too bad but it wasn’t pleasant.
Lucas watched me for a few seconds before he came to sit beside me. I smiled at him gratefully as he grabbed my free hand and squeezed. I don’t know how long the actual tattooing lasted it seemed like it took forever but when it was done it felt like it had only taken minutes. Lucas sat with me through it all only leaving once to answer a call.
When Xander was done he wiped it down and let me look in the mirror to see the final results as he went over how to care for it. Xander told me to come back in a couple of weeks for him to look at it to see if it but he didn’t think he would have to go over anything.
I grinned looking in the mirror, “I love this.” Turning around I looked over at him, “how much do I owe you?”
Xander shook his head looking up at Lucas, “no charge, just take care of it.”
I opened my mouth to protest wondering if Lucas had paid him under the table but before I could speak Lucas spoke, “I better get her home. I’ll see you next week.”
Xander nodded walking with us to the door, “let me know if anything changes.” I looked up at Lucas confused but he only nodded leading me out the shop and into the night.
It was dark as we left the shop. Lucas had turned his music on low and when we were out of the worst of the traffic he held out his hand. “Give me your phone.”
I looked over at him handing it over unsure about his motives but too shocked he asked to question it. He cut his eyes at me laughing, “Taylor unlock it so I can put my number in your phone.”
Feeling like an idiot I grabbed my phone unlocking it and handed it back. He quickly typed in his name and number before handing it back to me. “Text me so I have your number.”
Nodding I had no idea what to text so I sent him a simple “hey, it’s Taylor.”
He looked over, “I’ll call you in a few days about the interview.”
I nodded looking out the window, I should have guessed that’s why he wanted my number. I didn’t need to get in a relationship anyway my last one had been full of lies and betrayal. I came home from work early one day and found my boyfriend in between my best friend's legs. I left for home the next day.
Without realizing it I let out a deep breath just thinking about it. Lucas glanced over at me. “You ok?”
I shrugged, “just a lot on my mind tonight.”
He reached out grabbing my hand, “I don’t know what happened before you moved down here but bad things do fade.”
I nodded looking up at him, “I hope so.”
Lucas squeezed my hand, “I mean look how badass you’ve become in a week. Got all tatted up and you just went to lunch with a stranger.”
Laughing I leaned back feeling better, “whatever I still have a long way to go. I need to find a gym, cut my hair....”
Lucas shook his head, “you’re not cutting your hair.”
I looked up at him, he had said almost like a command but he was playing, right? I chose to ignore him, “well a gym for sure.”
He looked over at me, “I’ll send you an address, it’s in the city but you’ll be there soon anyway when you move.”
I smiled at him, “so if I get this job you going to find me an apartment too?”
Lucas looked over at me seriously, “yes.”
I bit my lip before laughing, “thanks for today Lucas, I really needed it.”
He nodded at me as he turned down my street, I was kinda bummed that the drive had flown by. As he pulled up he looked around and I assumed he was looking for Cody’s truck.
Leaving his car running he opened his door. I unbuckled and by the time I opened my door he was there helping me out. He seemed tense as he looked around again.
I looked up at him, “He is gone, left with some girl yesterday.” Lucas didn’t say anything but he seemed to relax. I gave him a small smile, “I’m assuming it would be better for me not to mention tonight to him.”
Lucas walked up to me pressing me against the car as he kissed me. His kiss caught me off guard and it took my breath away. “I wouldn’t but it’s up to you. I’ll call or text you later.”
I nodded feeling the loss of his arms as soon as he released me. I had to make myself walk up my carport to the door. Hearing his door shut I expected him to leave but he waited until I was inside the door before I saw him backing out.
I leaned against the door as I shut it. I wasn’t ready for him, I already knew the type of guy he was. He for some reason found me entertaining today but when he was done he’d toss me to the curb. I had nothing to offer him.
Walking to my room I looked at myself in the dresser mirror. The girl looking back at me had no answers to why we had grabbed Lucas Blake’s attention tonight. Shrugging I decided not to tempt the fates, I needed a distraction and he was definitely a distraction. I debated about looking him up on Facebook but to do that I would have to reactivate mine and I wasn’t about that tonight.
It had been a month since Chloe came into our lives. Lucas had done good on his promise and had been spending a majority of time home with us. He would still make an appearance once a week at the club. David was helping out with the Dom situation so Lucas had been working a lot from home.I couldn’t ask for Chloe to be a better baby, she hardly ever cried and if she did she was just letting you know a she was hungry, or because she was wet. She even slept for a good stretch of time at night. That little girl had her daddy wrapped around her tiny little fingers. I loved watching him with her. His whole demeanor changed when he held her.Things were still the same with my parents. I had given up on them ever coming around. I knew they blamed Lucas for Cody’s disappearance. Even if I straight up confessed to murdering Cody they would turn it around on him. I wished things could have been different. I wished that mom and dad would be understanding for the sake
Taylor POVOpening my eyes I realized I must have fallen asleep in the recliner. Looking at my watch I saw it was just after midnight. Going to get up I felt horrible and debated on how bad I really needed to pee. Lucas was at the club and wouldn’t be home till sometime early in the morning. Closing my eyes I grabbed onto the arms of the chair to help host me up when I felt a sharp contraction hit. Oh shit I thought, I was only 36 weeks and at my appointment earlier in the week I wasn’t even dilated.Shaking my head I forced myself up thinking maybe I was tripping, maybe it was something I ate. Getting up I wobbled my way to the bathroom flipping on the lights before I quickly did my business and washed my hands. Heading back to the living room I grabbed my phone before going upstairs to the baby’s room to make sure the diaper bag and overnight bag wasn't still on the floor. I had told Lucas to put them in the trunk of his car and I guess he finally l
Lucas POVClosing my eyes I leaned back in my chair trying to drown my thoughts with scotch. I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders and no matter how much I shoved back at it, it just came down harder. I had a huge weakness now, a weakness that my enemies were determined to try and use against me. Taylor, Taylor and our baby to be exact.I knew she was probably upstairs still semi mad at me but I couldn’t focus on that right now. I was determined to strike back at every person who threatened us. To show them I hadn’t grown soft. If anything I had become more cold hearted. Taylor had no idea what I was up to when I left her, she had no clue the things I had done the last couple of months. She had no idea that even now I had the cop that snuck into our house tied up in one of my safe houses.Sighing I took a sip of my drink wishing David would hurry up and call. I had a clean up crew out tonight taking care of some loose ends. Normally I would
I sat with my arms crossed glaring at Lucas. He had found out pretty quickly that the two guys from earlier had indeed been cops but that one just happened to be a dirty cop. I had sat and listened as he spat orders out about bringing this guy in but not killing him he wanted answers. Well damn it I wanted answers too. I was more than a little put out at him and he didn’t seem to be noticing. It seemed like hours later before our house was silent again. The house had been bugged, the alarm system had been hacked, everything brought back my question of how. How had Lucas let this happen? He had enemies and right now I wasn’t sure if I could even trust his men. Everyone was a suspect in my eyes.“You hungry?” Lucas asked looking up from his phone. I shrugged which brought an automatic sigh from him, “Taylor baby you need to eat. I can go get something, or we can go out.”I rolled my eyes at him, “you can do what you want b
Sitting at the bar I looked up angrily at the clock on the stove. It was after 10 and I had yet to hear a word back from Lucas. Both my calls and my text remained unanswered. Part of me feared he had gone missing again but the other half of me knew he was still dealing with whoever had rushed him out of the house.I had finally gotten hungry enough to cook but was lazy so I settled for a grilled cheese sandwich. Taking a bite I dropped it back down aggravated at the whole situation. Was this what my life would become, a lot of nights left wondering where he was or what he was doing? I knew I couldn’t really complain, I knew who he was, I knew what he was. Hell, I willingly stepped into this new lifestyle.Even though I had known better I tried to call my Mom, the phone went straight to voicemail. I left a brief message telling her I heard Cody was still missing and if she needed anything to call. Part of me knew she wouldn’t but at least I had tried. I got
I sat on the edge of the bed watching an angry Lucas slide into a fresh white button-up shirt. We had just made it in the doors when David called him back telling him there had been some “changes.” I didn’t know what the change were but I knew it had pissed him the hell off. Any and all plans of messing around before he left went out the window.Looking up at him I sighed, “how long do you think you’ll be gone?”Lucas shrugged not answering me. Frowning up at him I shook my head, “why can’t this meeting wait? We just got home.”Turning to look at me Lucas sighed, “Taylor you know I don’t want to go but this is important. I have to get things set up so I can lay low when Chloe gets here for a few months without things falling all apart.I rolled my eyes, “I thought that’s what David is for.”Lucas shot me a look, “Taylor.”I knew I was aggravating
