--- "See, it's not so bad," Grey tried to pacify me while we marched in the halls. With the way I was acting, he definitely knew I was gravely nervous right now. He snaked his arms around my shoulders and glided his palms up and down to comfort me. I scooted closer to him and watched as every student we passed by kept turning their heads in our direction, which caused my face to flush. People kept whispering to each other, and someone even boldly pointed at either me or Grey. We entered the teachers' office, which was located on the second floor. The school was too big, and it took us almost 15 minutes to locate where it was. "Hello miss, we're here to get our schedules, we're new students," Grey politely asked the woman in charge, and she responded with a warm welcome. "Hi, it's nice to meet the two of you. Here, that will be for you, and this one… is for your brother," she said softly as she handed us our individual schedules. I unintentionally stared at her for too long, thinking that her voice was so soft, unlike my previous teachers who were so scary and shrill. "Hi there, you have very pretty eyes," she said when she noticed I was staring. "Th-thank you," I whispered and shrank back behind Grey. She didn't try to converse with me after that. Maybe she noticed that I was reserved and not socially engaged with other people. Somehow… she seemed to understand. "Well that's all you need to know. If you have further questions don't hesitate to ask me, okay? Oh! And also, do you guys need a tour? I'm free if you'd like." Grey looked at me for a second. I shook my head a little. He smiled and politely declined her offer, saying that we could manage on our own. We thanked her and started reading the schedules in our hands as we left. Our designated buildings were different, since I was still in my final year of secondary school, while Grey was already in his second year in college. "Bud, you good? My room will be in the other building, but it's just connected anyway. You can go there and see me if you don't feel well. Okay bud? I'll see you at lunch." I just nodded at him thoughtlessly while trying to work out my complicated schedule, not listening to a single word he had just said. When I looked back up— Grey was no longer by my side. "_" "Grey?" I looked everywhere but couldn't spot him. I walked aimlessly and felt like I wanted to cry. "He left me~" I trembled. I was scared of asking someone for help, so I toughened myself up to reach the room I was supposed to be in by myself, hoping I wouldn't get in trouble. "I can do this!" I mustered the courage and marched forward through the halls. (After a few minutes) "No… this won't do." I had been walking for almost half an hour and realized I was just going in circles. I finally gathered the courage to ask the girl standing by the side who had stopped to fix her things. She seems nice. I sauntered toward her with sweaty hands and was about to tap her, but she moved as she finished fixing her things and prepared to leave. "No! Wait—" I grabbed her bag quickly, which completely shocked her. "Holy shit!" she cursed as she turned back to look at me, probably seeing how stressed I was while gripping her bag. "Uhmm, do you need something?" she asked carefully. "If it's okay… Ca—can you take me to this room?" I said with a quivering voice, showing her the paper, letting go of her bag. "Ohh, I see. You must be new here," she said, studying my schedule. "Well, you're in luck, we have the same course and the same room. Follow me. But first," she stopped, her face scrunching, "I have to go to the restroom. Nature's call!" She shouted the last two words as she raised her right fist forward and caught my hand with her other one dragging me with her. "So how've you been? Isn't this school great?" she asked energetically. Somehow… her presence didn't affect me as much. I got comfortable with her easily, which was odd, because for the record, it took my older cousin Robby seven years to get comfortable with me. "It's fine. I mean, the people here seem nice," I replied, my voice coming out soft. "Is that so? How old are you exactly? You look kinda small to be here, but hey… I'm no judge," she said cheekily. "18." "Really? You sure don't look like it. Your face looks like 15 or 16, and your height—ummm… no offense." she laughed, stopping, though I knew what she was gonna say. "But if you think about it, that's actually good, unlike me who's practically the same age as you but looks old." She puffed her cheeks, and I let out a small laugh. We soon reached the restroom within just a few minutes. "Wait here, and I'm very sorry, this might take a while. But don't worry, we won't be late," she said quickly before running inside the girls' comfort room. I stayed outside, waiting. About three minutes later, I suddenly felt the urge to pee. I hesitated… then decided to go. I entered the restroom and went inside a stall to relieve myself. "I think I just made a new friend." I mumbled happily. [Creak!] I heard one of the doors in the cubicle open. I quickly finished and stepped out to clean myself. I washed my hands thoroughly, then took off my glasses to splash some water on my face. Without warning, I was suddenly jerked forward. "Oof!" A hand gripped my neck tightly as another hand slowly caressed my face. What… what is happening?!The rest of the week felt like I was in hell. I tried to be optimistic, to not think about negative things just like what my friend said, but I couldn’t help but be affected.Especially since my brother is still not talking to me.And as for Alex, weirdly enough, he hasn’t shown up yet. Did he finally get tired of me? Did he finally realize that he won’t benefit from being with me?Right. That must be it, we are from two opposite worlds anyway. He is this creature that turns into a wolf, so it would only be right for him to eventually be with someone the same as him.Sigh. I still can wrap up my head on that fact, but I guess, the fantasy movies I always watched paid off. Because the truth that someone like him really exists isn’t too disturbing to me anymore. I wonder if vampires exist as well. Like in the movie Twilight. Alas. My thoughts are wandering again. I should get some fresh air.I got up from bed and opened the door. I was about to go out but then I saw Grey, he stopped
(Henry’s POV)—————Jessica crossed her arms and tilted her head as she stared at me with a condescending look. Her smile was sharp. Cruel. Victorious. Like she had finally found the perfect weapon against me.“Well, it’s good to be back, doesn’t it?” she said in a sickening sweet voice.Nobody answered.Casper immediately stood up, glaring at her.“Go away, Jessica.”“Aww.” She placed a hand dramatically over her chest. “Such hostility.”“You started the rumors about Henry.”“Rumors?” She laughed. The sound scraped against my nerves.“If they were rumors, then why hasn’t Alex denied them?”Nobody spoke.Jessica’s eyes slowly drifted toward me.“Interesting, isn’t it?”My stomach tightened. She took a step closer.“You disappear for three days and now you are back.”Another step.“Alex disappeared for days as well and suddenly he is also back.”Another.“That’s not a coincidence at all. I say you tricked and seduced him, didn't you? Even went as far as to fucking up his position as ca
(Henry’s POV)I am currently walking to school because Grey apparently left me. He is probably still mad. I tried talking to him but he wouldn’t budge at all.Sigh.Eventually I arrived at school. The moment I stepped through the school gates… I instantly knew something was wrong. At first, I couldn’t figure out why. Students were staring. Not the normal stare. This was different. Everywhere I looked, people were whispering.A group of girls sitting near the fountain immediately lowered their voices when they noticed me looking. Two boys near the bike racks glanced at me. Then at each other. Then they started whispering again, snickering. My steps slowed.A strange feeling settled in my stomach. What is going on?Then I heard it. As I passed three girls whispering to each other.“…that’s him.”My heart skipped.“The one dating Alex.”Another voice answered.“No way.”“I’m serious.”“I heard they’re already livin
(Henry’s POV) ————— I feel like this is the most unappetizing breakfast I have ever had my entire life. Not because the food was bad. But because Alex was sitting beside me. Don’t get me wrong, if this was before, I would have been overjoyed to have him eating with us. It’s just that… I didn’t know who he was anymore. Mom sat across from me, and Grey sat beside her. On the table were the plates of eggs, toast, bacon, and freshly brewed coffee. Everything looked normal, on the surface but if you looked closely at us right now, it was everything but normal. My fingers unconsciously curled around my fork. I was sweating a little, because even with the hot day, Alex made me wear it, so that my mom and Grey wouldn’t see the bruise on my wrist. “Keep it on.” That was what Alex had told me before we came downstairs. So I did. I didn’t have the courage to argue. Especially after what happened. Across from me, Grey was glaring at Alex. The tension was so thick that
(Henry’s POV) ————— The first thing I noticed when I woke up was warmth. A comforting warmth wrapped around me from behind. For a brief moment, I didn’t open my eyes. I simply enjoyed it. The room was quiet, and the temperature was just right for all my muscles. It felt… nice. Then shortly, reality slowly returned. My eyes fluttered open. And immediately landed on Elijah. He was still asleep. His arm remained draped around my waist while his face rested against my shoulder. His golden lashes cast faint shadows across his cheeks. And I found myself staring. Why was I always staring at him lately? It was becoming a problem. A very serious problem. I shook my head. Nope. Not thinking about that. I carefully slipped out from beneath his arm. Like a criminal escaping a crime scene. One wrong movement and he might wake up. Thankfully, Elijah remained asleep. I quietly climbed off the bed. My stomach immediately growled. I was famished. Suddenly my prioritie
(Henry’s POV)—————The car ride home was… awkward. It wasn’t bad, but the silence was just too deafening. The rhythmic hum of the engine filled the silence as the dark road stretched endlessly before us. Trees blurred past the windows like shadows dancing beneath the moonlight.I sat in the passenger seat, occasionally stealing glances toward Elijah as he drove. One hand rested on the steering wheel while the other leaned against the window. His expression was unreadable. Ever since Kara accidentally revealed the whole mate thing earlier, he had gone totally quiet.Earlier, when I asked what a mate was, both he and Kara exchanged strange looks. Then Kara laughed nervously. And Elijah… well… Elijah simply smiled.“A mate is like a friend for life.” That was his answer.I wasn’t stupid. That sounded like the kind of explanation adults give children when they don’t know how to answer complex questions.I had narrowed my eyes on both
(Henry’s POV) -———— I felt the warm rays of the sun hit my face as I slowly opened my eyes. My dim room was gradually brightening from the sunlight slipping through my thin blue curtains. I was about to sit up whe
(Henry's POV) -———— I shuffled around the unfamiliar bed and felt a burning sensation in my throat. My head was also hurting like something was punching me from the inside. Where am I? [Creak!] A door to my left opened without notice and it revealed the person I least expected to see.
(Henry's POV) ————— A week had passed since that awkward encounter between me and Alex. And ever since then… we barely saw each other. Actually, scratch that. It felt more like he was avoiding me.
(Henry's POV) --- "So did you all hear about Bryce's party?" Drake questioned out of nowhere while we were eating our lunch. We've been hanging in the café almost every day whenever we go out to eat lunch. Also, I thin
