A lady walked into her room just as Kiara was done dressing up. She couldn’t tell if she woke up on the wrong side of the bed or if today was just wrong, but she felt snappy and angry, her joints also hurt for reasons she couldn’t pinpoint.

“Is there anything I can help you with?” She asked after waiting for a few minutes and the lady wasn’t saying anything.

As if snapped out of a trance, Amira cleared her throat and straightened her back. “I am sorry, ma’am. The alpha sent me to give you a rundown of what your day is going to look like today.”

Instantly, Kiara’s lips puckered up, but she didn’t voice out her displeasure at having her day planned out without being informed prior, instead she nudged the girl to continue. 

“According to the schedule, you are to be having breakfast right about now -“ a knock interrupted them, and when the door was pushed open, a maid wheeled in a basket of food. She dropped it on the table, gave a nod and waltzed off, leaving Amira and Kiara alone yet again. “After breakfast, the doctor is going to come and examine you both physically and for your wolf?” It came out like a question, given her confusion, but Amira immediately cleared her throat and kept on reading, “after that, by 11, you are to come down to the pack hall. Finally, he said you should dress light today.”

Kiara glanced down at the jeans and sweater she had on. Today was a cold day, why on earth would he ask her to dress light? Rolling her eyes, she discarded the last information and went for her food.

“If you’ve not had breakfast, you should join me….”

“Amira,” she completed and Kiara shot her a grateful smile. “Thank you, but I’ve had breakfast. Just call me when you are done.”

Dishing out the food, Kiara shrugged. “I don’t have a phone to reach out to you.”

Instantly, Amira slapped her forehead. “I’ll be back.”

Kiara ended up having a quiet breakfast, which she was grateful for because the second she was done eating, her door burst open to reveal Amira and a doctor.

A few pleasantries were exchanged and afterwards they proceeded for an examination.

“I believe the wolfsbane forced your wolf out, and you might have unintentionally blocked her out as well. It’s a common possibility when one goes through a traumatic event.” Eliza explained once she was come with her examination.

“Am I ever going to get her back?” She asked in a soft voice, scared that if she were to speak up it might become a reality. Eliza instantly shot her a reassuring smile and nodded.

“Yes. I am going to speak with the Alpha, and we will figure something out.”

Kiara’s hands curled together and she swallowed down the bitter taste that had formed in her mouth. “Why can’t we have this discussion without involving him? I am the one with the problem, not him.”

“He is still the alpha, he’s the one that sent me to you. I need his approval before I can commence any treatment. I apologize if that bothers you, but rules are rules.”

Taking a shaky breath, Kiara sprang up from the bed and forced a smile on her face. “Very well then, thank you. I hope you don’t mind but I’ve got to get going.”

“Where are you going?” Her icy glare immediately made Amira clamp her lips shut. “You have to…”

“I’ll do what I want, tell that to your Alpha, and if he has a problem with that he can come and say it to my face”

She slammed the door on her way out and puffed out a breath through her lips before she proceeded to stomp out of the guesthouse, and wander about aimlessly. She couldn’t place a hand on why she was so snappy and angry today. Every little thing, especially when it involves mentioning Devon set something unfathomable off in her head. 

Her stomach was in knots, and she was full of rage as she patrolled the pack aimlessly. She had no idea where she was going, but she just kept marching in anger. 

“Any reason your hands are clenched so tight blood has practically stopped flowing in them?” Marcos took her hand in his, and gently pried her fingers open before meeting her gaze with a smile.

Kiara couldn’t help the wave of repulsion that hit her at the sight of him, and she immediately snatched her hand out of his hold. “What are you doing here so early, Marcos?” Her disgust seeped into her voice, causing Marcos to raise a suspicious brow,

“I…” he cleared his throat, hoping to keep the slight hurt he felt away from his voice, “I was invited by Devon-“ Kiara’s body went still at the mention of his name, “-but I came this early so I could spend time with you first.” He tried to grab her hand again, but Kiara quickly moved out of his reach.

“Where is Devon?” 

“What?”

“I’m asking where Devon is, I need to speak with him.”

Marcos’ jaw hardened, and Kiara didn’t miss the way a muscle ticked at the hardness of his jaw, but she couldn’t bring herself to care - if he was annoyed, so was she.

“Don’t you think it is unfair to me?” She scrunched her brows, “you get to spend all day with Devon in his pack, but you still ask of him in the little time that I get with you? That’s unfair to me, Kiara.”

The sound of her name rolling out of his tongue forced her breakfast back up her throat, and her hand immediately covered her mouth as she took a step back. She did not mean to be mean or disgusted by him, but she couldn’t control her reactions. Marcos tried to reach out and help when he noticed that color had drained from her face, but she immediately slapped his hand away. “Don’t touch me, Marcos,” her voice came out low and lethal, effectively triggering Marcos’ wolf and he growled.

“I suggest you think twice before growling at my mate like that, Marcos.”  Kiara’s knees buckled and her insides turned buttery at the sight of him. 

“Devon,” she breathed out like a prayer before she buried herself in his arms.

“What did you do to her?”

An arrogant smirk covered Devon’s face while he stroked her hair softly, agitating Marcos even more. “I did nothing to her, tonight is a full moon, Marcos. Figure it out.”

Kiara, who was previously enjoying Devon’s soft caresses froze and her eyes widened. “That can’t be,” she muttered, shaking her head, but the fact that she still couldn’t pull herself away from Devon despite this realization confirmed the news.

Tonight was going to be a long night for all of them.
