Orana’s point of view

I stood between them, and for a moment, I forgot how to breathe.

My heart pounded so hard it felt loud enough to interrupt the silence, loud enough for both of them to hear.

Vaughn’s hand was still wrapped around mine. When I glanced at him, something in my chest tightened. His jaw was tight, his eyes darker than I had ever seen them, his entire posture coiled like he was one second away from doing something neither of us could take back.

There was something raw in Callah

Vaughn’s Point of View“It’s not fucking Darian!” Sean barked, looking furious as I stared down at the monitor screen.“I know,” I said, leaning back in the leather chair, my mind racing as I tried to piece together who would pull off something this coordinated. I had a sickening suspicion brewing in my gut, but I didn’t want to jump to conclusions, so I kept my mouth shut and didn’t tell Sean just yet.We needed a way forward.Sean paced the room, throwing out potential solutions on how we could trace the asshole, but I barely heard a word he said. My breath caught in my throat when my phone buzzed in my hand, displaying Orana’s name on the screen. She had been calling me repeatedly.“A stór?” I answered, pressing the phone to my ear.“Vaughn... oh my God...” Her frantic, ragged sobs echoed through the speaker, sending a spike of adrenaline straight through my veins.I bolted out of my chair. “A stór, what’s wrong? What happened?”“I know who did it... I need to see you right now!”M

Orana’s Point of ViewThe conference was just as I imagined it would be. When it was time for our panel, I took my seat and spoke openly about the shifting trends and current landscape of real estate. Once the discussion wrapped up, I answered a few thoughtful questions from the audience before we moved over to the private networking lounge for drinks. The moment I stepped down from the stage, Kameron was by my side, walking me around the room and introducing me to every major business mogul in the real estate industry.“Did I tell you you look absolutely beautiful, by the way?” Kameron asked softly, sliding up beside me.I chuckled, picking up a glass of champagne from a passing waiter’s tray. “You just did.”We spent the next few minutes catching up on life, trading the usual small talk that comes with not having seen someone in years. When I asked about his plans for the future, he admitted, almost sheepishly, that he was seriously considering moving to London.“It’s a big jump,”

Orana’s point of view“Please, Mama?” Liorah pleaded, clasping her hands together.Vaughn exhaled heavily, leaning down to whisper in my ear. “It’s fine, a stór. I really don’t mind if she spends the night with them.”I relaxed, looking back at our daughter. “Okay, sweetie. But Vaughn is picking you up tomorrow morning, deal?”“Thank you, Mama!” she squealed, slamming into my legs for a tight hug before turning on her heel and sprinting back down the hallway.I looked up at Vaughn, feeling guilty. “I’m sorry about that. I told Callahan we need to establish better communication about these last-minute schedule changes, but—”“It’s fine,” Vaughn assured me softly, smoothing a stray lock of hair behind my ear. “Don’t worry about it.”“I’m running late,” I murmured, pressing a quick kiss to his lips before trying to step away.Vaughn let out a low moan, tightening his grip on my waist and pulling my hips flush against his. “I’ll be fast...”I let out a breathless laugh, pushing against hi

Orana’s Point of View“What the hell were you thinking going to see him?”Vaughn stormed into our bedroom like a hurricane, slamming the door behind him. I was sitting at my vanity preparing for the real estate conference, applying a light coat of lipstick, but the sudden thunder in his voice made my hand pause mid-stroke.“Welcome back, honey,” I said, forcing a calm smile onto my face as I stood up from the stool to face him head-on.He didn’t slow down until he was right in my space, stepping into my personal bubble and trapping me against the wooden edge of the dresser, his broad shoulders caging me in.“I told you not to see him, Orana,” he growled, his dark eyes ablaze with fury.“Of course you did, but I wanted to talk to him,” I argued gently.“And say what, exactly?”“And try to find out what he wants!”“And what the fuck did you actually get out of him?” he demanded, his jaw clenched tight.I looked up into his face and sighed heavily, my pulse fluttering as I blinked back a

Orana’s Point of ViewTwo days later.I hated being here. I hated being the center of attention under any circumstances, but the second I stepped into the central police station, every single eye in the lobby swung toward me. I could feel their heavy, lingering stares burning into my back as I walked past the front desk.I had business to settle with my father. That was why I hadn’t bothered telling Vaughn what I was doing or where I was going. He thought I was working in my office right now, but I was here.I needed to sit across from the man who donated his sperm so that I could exist in this world. It was time we put this behind us once and for all. When I took a seat on the cold steel chair in the interrogation room, I tried to steady my breathing, but my nerves refused to settle. I placed my designer handbag on my lap, gripping the leather handles until my knuckles turned white. The door clicked open. My father walked in, wearing the bright yellow prison jumpsuit reserved for rem

Orana’s Point of View“What do you mean I shouldn’t speak to Darian?” I asked Vaughn as he steered me away from the monitoring room and down the hallway. A few people walked past us, and he walked towards me as I stepped back, shielding me from the passing crowd.“We need to act like we don’t know anything so we can see his endgame,” he said, his voice clipped and tight.I frowned, pulling against his grip. “That doesn’t make any sense. He’s out there, and we know—”“We are not certain it’s him,” he cut in, his voice laced with certainty.I let out a dry, incredulous chuckle. This was complete bullshit. Something had happened on that phone call he took, and the energy shifted the exact second he answered it. And now he suddenly wanted to stand down and do nothing? It was crazy.“Vaughn,” I said, stepping right into his path to force him to stop. “Is there something you’re keeping from me?”Because at this point I hated being kept in the dark, he knew it, and I always knew it.He loo

Orana’s point of view“Can you tell me why the hell we are not going to this meeting?” Edward asked, plopping down on the armchair in front of me.I glanced at him. Orana’s point of viewSpending the day with Liorah was so nice. I had missed my little girl, and I didn’t think I would enjoy spending time with her like this.We moved through shops while she held my hand the whole time, her grip small but certain, as if she knew I wouldn’t let go.She laughed at

Orana’s Point of View“I want a divorce.”For a second, I thought I had misheard him. My fingers tightened around the edge of the table, nails digging into the marble countertop. I knew one day this day would come. I always dreaded it, but today it was happening.“What?”Across from me, he didn’t s
