“What the hell do you want?” I asked with a frown. I never expected to see Ethan ever again. Hell, I didn't think he would come to my house. He had always avoided coming to my home to see me because of the paparazzi. “Lana, we need to talk,” Ethan started and tried to walk into the house, but I didn't let him. “Whatever you want to say, say it outside,” I replied, and Ethan sighed. “I don't want anyone seeing me here, Lana,” he explained, and that only added to my anger. I hate it when he does this. He acts like I am someone he is ashamed of. “Then leave. We're over, Ethan. You're engaged, for fuçk sake,” I retorted, and he sighed. “I know you're mad at me, but I didn't have a choice. My engagement to Hannah is just business,” Ethan tried to reason. “I don't give a shît, Ethan. I'm over you already. Stay away from me,” I said and tried to slam the door, but he held it with his hand, making me glare at him hard. “Throughout our entire four years of relationship, you never let me touch you even once, and you really expect me to be faithful?” Ethan spat, and my frown deepened. He looked angry, like a completely different Ethan from the person I knew and dated. What on earth could have gotten into him? It is true that we didn't have sex or get intimate whatsoever, but that was partially his fault. We hardly even got time to talk to each other or go on dates. “The audacity,” I scoffed at him. “You're angry because I didn't let you touch me? Go back to your fiancée and leave me the fuçk alone,” I told him, but he didn’t budge. In fact, he tried to force his way into the house, and my heart leaped. His face was different—completely different. He looked like he would really hurt me, and it's just so surprising because he was the one who betrayed me. Ethan forced his way into the house, and I stepped backward fast as he came closer, my heart racing and my fingers trembling. What is he trying to do? Don't tell me I am about to get raped by my ex-boyfriend. Ethan pounced on me, and I tried to push him away, but he was too strong—stronger than me. I could feel tears stinging my eyes. Before I could process anything, I heard a loud noise, and Ethan stiffened before falling to the ground. Beatrice came into view, her face filled with horror and anger. She was holding a mop. “Are you okay, Lana?” my sister asked worriedly, and the tears in my eyes fell free. I nodded repeatedly, and she sighed in relief. Our eyes went to an unconscious Ethan on my living room floor, and I really wanted to kick the hell out of this guy till he bled. What got into him? I really couldn't wrap my head around his behavior. “Is he alive?” I asked Beatrice. As much as I want to beat him to a pulp, I really don't want my sister and me to go to prison for murdering Ethan. Beatrice squatted beside Ethan and checked if he was still breathing. “Unfortunately, yes,” she replied, and I sighed in relief. “What are we going to do?” I asked. “We will bundle him and throw him somewhere. He is an asshole,” Beatrice answered. “We can't be seen carrying him anywhere, Beatrice,” I said with a frown. Our neighbors would definitely ask questions. “That's why we will do it now. Everyone is at work. It's quiet now. We can dump him somewhere,” Beatrice replied, trying to lift him, and I joined her. We managed to carry him out of the building. I never thought I would be so glad about how quiet this area normally is. As Beatrice said, we dumped him somewhere away from my apartment building, and we walked back home. “Why are you home this early?” I asked her, trying to get my mind off everything that has happened today. “I felt a little sick, so I came back,” Beatrice replied and bit her lips, indicating she's lying. I don't know if she noticed, but she always bites her lips anytime she lies, but I didn’t pressure her. I guess I wasn't the only one who had a bad day today. I honestly just hope she's okay. She has been very secretive lately.LanaI turned on the bed sleepily and felt the space beside me, but it was empty.I quickly opened my eyes to search for Lily, then I saw her on Beatrice’s bed, and I breathed in relief. But I couldn't find Beatrice, and I got up from my bed and walked out of the bedroom. When I walked into the living room, I saw Beatrice sitting on the couch, her head buried in her phone.“Why are you here in the middle of the night?” I asked, slumping on the couch beside her.“It’s 5 a.m.,” Beatrice corrected, and I blinked in surprise.“Huh? I slept like 2 mins ago,” I grumbled.“Lily was a real drag last night. She didn't let you sleep,” Beatrice said, and I nodded.“I love playing with her, but she can be a lot,” I said, getting up from the couch. “Do you have a test or an early class today?” I asked.“An early class,” she replied and bit her lips. Why would she lie about that? If she needed to go somewhere, she could just go without lying.“Okay… would it be possible to wait for Katelyn? She wou
KarlMy phone vibrated beside me, and I peeled my eyes from the road to pick up my phone.“What?” I asked impatiently.“Why are you being grumpy? come to the mansion, Grandpa wants to talk” Ryan said“Hell no,” I replied.“You don't have a choice, Karl. I can't be the only one dealing with the old man, save your brother's life.” Ryan pleaded, and I took a deep breath.“On my way,” I answered and hung up._When I got to the Moretti mansion, I met Grandpa talking to Ryan, who had his head down. His eyes lit up when he saw me. “Karl! You're here,” Ryan called, and Grandpa's attention turned to me, clearly not pleased.“You finally decided to come see this old man,” Grandpa Vincent said, getting up from the couch.“How have you been?” I asked, but he scoffed in reply.“Grandfather has been very disappointed in you,” Ryan said, shaking his head, and a small smirk tugged his lips.“If this is about Daphne Brighton, I already told you I am not interested,” I said to him.“You're not getting
KarlLana didn't look happy to see me. She stiffly turned and walked towards me slowly.“What are you doing here?” She asked.“To see you,” I managed a smile.“Why?” She questioned me.“Do I need a reason to want to see you?” I questioned, and she sighed.“People would talk,” she complained.“I would love to see them try.” I shrugged, and her expression changed into something I couldn't quite read.I am very good at reading a person's expression or behavior, but when it comes to her, it's like all my skills have no meaning at all.“Where are you going? I would drop you off,” I offered. Lana turned around to see some of her colleagues walking out of the restaurant. She turned back to me and shook her head. “No thank you, I would call a taxi,” she rejected. Is she really scared of gossip?A smirk formed on my face as I held her hand and turned her over, making her lean on my car and pinning her to it.The expression on her face showed she wasn't expecting this.At least I can read that
Lana When I got back home, I met Beatrice sitting on the couch with her phone in her hand. “Back so early? Don't tell me you got fired.” Beatrice looked up at me. “I got fired yesterday,” I replied, slumped on the couch beside her. Beatrice looked at me like I had gone crazy. “You look awfully chill about it.” she raised an eyebrow. “I have two jobs, I got fired from one, and besides, I got a new one today,” I shrugged. “Huh? Lana, explain in detail!” Beatrice said, dropping her phone and giving me her full attention. I sighed and told her everything that had happened with Karl. She had that unbelievable look in her eyes like I would waste my time lying about something like this. “Karl Moretti?! Do you know who he is? Everyone knows him. Compared to us, he is like way up in the sky, sis,” Beatrice exclaimed. Of course, I know Karl, and I did extensive research on him. “I know, that's why I am being careful,” I replied. “You don't have to work there, you know, I can find a j
KarlI kept wondering what I did wrong.Where did I go wrong with Lana? Was my approach unacceptable, or was it too forward?I have been thinking about this for weeks non-stop, and it's messing with my brain. Every girl will jump at the opportunity I gave her, but Lana didn't.She completely rejected me.I ran my hands through my hair and blinked at the computer in front of me.My office doors opened, and Lark entered with some files in his hand.“The report on the cotton industry,” he said as he dropped it on my desk.I picked it up and ran through it hurriedly, making sure everything was as it should be.A businessman like myself always has someone laundering money from me somewhere, and I need to make sure that doesn't happen.“You may leave,” I said after I was sure everything was okay. I dropped the files somewhere and looked at Lark, who wasn't moving.“Is something wrong?” I asked. He looked like he was scared to say something.“You have dinner with Daphne Brighton this evening
LanaI couldn't sleep throughout last night. My mental health is in danger.I kept tossing and turning in bed throughout the night. It's really annoying.A part of me is really scared Ethan would come out of nowhere, but I assured myself that he can't hurt me. He won't break into my house, right?Right?Gosh, I’m so paranoid. My eyes went to the busy street through the bus window, and I sighed. I just finished for the day, and I am very tired, but I couldn’t get Ethan out of my head.I never viewed him as the type to do something like that. I was so blinded by love. What scares me the most is the fact that I haven't heard anything from him.Of course, I don't want him contacting me, but I was hoping to see news on him, at least a confirmation that he is alive. Would he call the cops on me?He wouldn't. He tried to assault me; that wouldn't be good for his reputation. He should just stay as far away as he can from me.The bus stopped, and passengers went out while more came in. The lad
