Melody’s POV

The faint sound of the beeping monitor increased as my eyelids gradually fluttered open and I regained consciousness.

My vision was blurry and unfocused causing me to blink repeatedly to clear the fog. It felt like I had just resurrected from a deep sleep that was an eternity long. Slowly, I turned my head in the direction of the sound of the beeping monitor, but my eyes landed on a figure wearing a white coat instead.

Where was I? What is this place?

I tried to move but my body refused to cooperate. It felt like a humongous size of bricks were placed on every joint of my body, making it impossible for me to move a muscle.

A painful groan escaped my lips, and the man, on noticing my discomfort, immediately turned towards me. He hovered over me in concern and carefully examined my stomach while I watched on in confusion.

“Miss, please try not to move too much," he said calmly, straightening his spine. "You are not yet fully out of the critical condition you were in."

My eyes darted around the room, taking in every detail. I could feel the weight of several pairs of eyes on me—females, all watching me closely. A lump formed in my throat, and I swallowed hard. What was going on here?

Sensing my fear, the man standing beside me, gently massaged my shoulder, with a reassuring smile on his lips. “You are in safe hands, I assure you,” He said calmly, his tone doing nothing to ease the knots in my stomach.

Adjusting his glasses, he reached for my arm, examining it closely. I watched him in silence, wondering what he might be up to.

“I believe there’s a significant improvement, the lines are fading gradually, and it's almost gone thankfully,” He said, still gazing at my arm.

He gently dropped my arm and picked up a stick with a cotton tip. “Can you open your mouth please?” He asked.

There was no way in hell I was going to do that. I didn't know where I was or what was happening, and I certainly did not trust this man. I immediately declined his offer, shaking my head and pressing my lips together tightly.

He let out a sigh and placed the cotton stick back on the tray. “Look here Miss, this is for your good. You were in a very bad state and we barely managed to keep you stable. The poison in your body is highly lethal and requires to be carefully removed so as to not cause any more harm. The poison needs to be completely purged from your body or your baby would be in distress. Time is an important factor here, and we don't have much of it, so please work with us,” he stated sternly.

My ears piqued at his words and my brows furrowed in disbelief.

Baby? What baby? What was this man talking about?

My eyes traveled to my stomach, and I felt a tug in my heart as tears gathered at the corner of my eyes at the information. Did this mean I didn’t lose my child? That she was still alive, growing inside of me?

“Please open your mouth, Miss, we don't have time,” the man urged, interrupting my thoughts, and without a second thought, I did as I was told.

He stuck the stick in my mouth and swirled it for a few seconds before handing it to one of the women behind him. Then, he gently flipped me to lay on my stomach, examining my back and legs.

“Inform the alpha, she is awake and can be seen now,” he said, pulling off his gloves.

My breath caught in my throat as fear tickled down my spine. Was I back in Damon’s pack or was I still in the Rogue Alpha’s residence? My eyes scanned the room for any clue of where I was, panic settling in my heart. The last thing I remembered was being in a room with the Rogue Alpha and another man.

The man tried to leave, but I grabbed his arm. “Where am I?” I croaked out desperately.

He smiled reassuringly. “You are in safe hands miss. Do not worry.”

With that, he left the room with the other women. A few minutes later, the door opened and a lady walked in with a bottle of water in hand. She poured some into a cup and placed it beside my bed before helping me sit up on the bed. She assisted me in having a drink and I gulped down the liquid like I had been in the desert for years.

“Thank you,” I muttered appreciatively with a warm smile but she said nothing. I didn't let her cold demeanor deter me from asking the question that had been bugging me.

“Ma’am, is my child really alive?”

She glanced at me with a blank expression but that didn't stop me either. My hand went to my stomach, and I massaged it tenderly. “How is she? Is she healthy?”

That was a priority for me, and I needed confirmation from her. Besides, she was a woman like me and will definitely understand. She let out a frustrated sigh and nodded stiffly at my questions. Without saying a word and with a face devoid of any emotion she turned around and walked out.

My heart raced in panic as a mix of happiness and sadness surged through me. I didn't know whether I should be elated or angry at the news of my baby being safe. If I was still in the alpha rogue’s territory, that means I would raise my child in prison or he would take the child away or kill me and my baby.

This was all Damon’s fault.

Would the outcome be different if I had just swallowed my anger and stayed back at his pack? If I had controlled my emotions and held them in, then my baby would have been safe.

Many scenarios of a better outcome from this situation played out in my mind, but this was the card reality had dealt me. I could feel my eyes water as fear gripped me and I began thinking of ways to save my child and escape the Rogue Alpha's wrath.

A stray tear rolled down my cheek, and at that moment, the door pushed open, and the Rogue Alpha walked in with the man who had left the room a while ago.

I wiped my eyes immediately not wanting to appear vulnerable before them.

The man from earlier mentioned something upon their entrance causing the Alpha to stop in his tracks and pay him attention. I tried to eavesdrop but couldn't. I swallowed hard wondering what they could be talking about.

Before now, I had nothing to lose and demanded death without any care in the world. But now things have changed. I had something to protect, and I will do everything in my power to protect my baby.

At the same time, I could not help the fear that overwhelmed me, knowing what the Rogue Alpha was capable of doing.

With those piercing emerald eyes trained on me, the Rogue Alpha walked towards my bed, his gaze unwavering. As he closed the distance between us, I quickly averted my gaze, my eyes roaming the space in anxiousness. My heart raced maniacally in my chest as thoughts of possible punishments I could be subjected to flooded my mind.

“Ready to die now?” He said, his voice low and chilling.

I turned to him with lips slightly parted in shock. “Huh?”

“Are you ready to be executed just like you wanted,” He repeated, this time stressing each syllable.

My breath hitched at his question, I couldn't tell if he was mocking me or trying to test my resolve. I tried to respond, but no words left my lips. I remained still, staring silently at him.

My silence seemed to infuriate him, his jaw tightened as he turned away, facing his guards. “Prepare everything and bring her to me,” he commanded sternly before striding out of the room.

Beads of sweat formed on my forehead, I didn't need anyone to explain what was going to happen to me after now. I couldn't let anything happen to my baby.

Without thinking, I sat upright on the bed. “I don't want to die!” I spluttered out causing the Rogue Alpha to suddenly stop in his tracks.

With tears threatening to spill out of my eyes, I continued speaking. “Please spare me, Alpha, I do not wish to die any longer.”

“Which pack do you come from? What are you doing in my territory?” He questioned, slowly turning around. “Who sent you?”

I sucked in a shaky breath at his usual question, my fingers nervously fiddling with my sweaty palm. “I'm from the Moonblood pack,” I answered, my voice trembling as I watched the Alpha's jaw tighten with displeasure. “I was mated to Damon, the Alpha… but he cheated on me with my best friend. He rejected me and claimed my best friend as his mate. I decided to leave the pack since Damon didn't want our child. I wandered into the woods and got lost. While trying to navigate my way out, a sharp pain pierced my stomach and the last thing I remember is passing out on the cold Forest floor. I swear I didn't mean any harm. I didn't intentionally infiltrate your Pack, Your Highness; I was lost,” I uttered in one breath, my heart racing, hoping he believed me and would let my baby live.

Silence reigned in the room for a few seconds, his cold eyes piercing into my very soul. I held his gaze, trying to read his emotion but as usual, his face remained stoic and his eyes were devoid of any emotion.

After a few minutes of silence, he spoke up, “You must think I'm a fool to believe all the rubbish you just uttered.”

The anger in his voice was palpable, his eyes darkened with fury and I couldn’t suppress the shudder of fear that ran through me. “If this was true, Damon would never let you go scot-free, not after whatever it was you shared with him.”

He turned to the man I noticed was always by his side. “Take her to the torture room and rip that baby out of her belly,” he stated sternly, his voice dripping with venom.

Panic surged through me as I tried to get out of the bed. “No, No, please, you can't do this! I promise I mean no harm! Please don't hurt me or my child!” I pleaded frantically.

His gaze remained cold, showing no mercy or remorse. Without another word, he turned around and made his way out of the room.

“No, please!" I called out, my voice trembling, but he didn’t look back. My heart pounded in my chest as I realized, he had already decided. My life, and my baby’s, were as good as over.

  • His Revenge Pawn   Chapter 083

Lucian's POV "This looks so bad," I commented, my face scrunched in distaste as I stared at the injuries of some of the warriors who were injured at the attack. It’s been days after the war but they couldn’t heal themselves and their injuries weren’t healing on their own. "It's poison, Alpha. The last time I saw something as strange as this was the night you returned from Moonblood pack and passed out from the injury you sustained,” The doctor began to explain, “The wounds on the guards are deep and they are healing slowly. For wolves like us, this isn't normal.”I placed a hand on my chin in thought and recalled that I was stabbed with a strange weapon that night of the attack when I was returning from Moonblood Pack, after my father's memorial. It then dawned on me that the weapons Damon's warriors used against us were the exact same ones. I clenched my fist angrily. “That rascal," I growled through clenched jaws and turned to the doctor. "Something can be done to save them, righ

  • His Revenge Pawn   Chapter 082

Damon's POV Two days have gone by since the war against Lucian happened. Lucian was still alive, walking freely and there was chaos within my council. The councilmen and my beta blamed me for what happened; for acting like a weakling and not leading the war like I should have. From their insinuations, I could tell they were beginning to feel that I wasn't fit to be the Alpha and were doubting my abilities. This was the first time something like this had happened, the first time the pack had gone against an opponent and lost to him. Lucian wasn’t like my previous opponents, he didn’t have the warriors or the strength to pull off such victory but somehow, he still managed to defeat the mighty moon-blood pack. No matter how hard I tried to find the loophole in my plans, I couldn’t come up with any.My mother had said she was going to handle everything, but I was running out of time and it didn't seem like she had a concrete plan on what to do.I was in my study, pacing about as I thoug

  • His Revenge Pawn   Chapter 081

Melody's POV I sat on the bare prison floor, reminiscing about my life with tears cascading down my cheeks. I was sad and heartbroken with everything that was happening. With every passing day, I regretted and cursed the day I met Agath. It was now clear as day to me that the Alpha didn't want me anymore, he wasn't even interested in my offer to help him fight against Damon anymore which was the reason he had kept me here in the first place. I had hoped I stood a chance with him after the kiss we shared. The kiss that was permanently engraved in my memory. Since he had initiated the kiss, I had thought he would soften up to me and punish Agath for lying against me, but what I got was the reverse and a harsher treatment from him. There was no passing day that I did not think about that day, that kiss had ignited something in me, something I hadn’t even felt with Damon, and even Erylis could testify to it. I have longed for him and yearned to have his lips on mine again ever since

  • His Revenge Pawn   Chapter 80

LUCIAN'S POV We got to the pack and immediately the injured warriors were taken to the pack clinic alongside the young man from Damon's pack who led the war. "Treat him with the best resources but not enough for him to heal entirely, I want him alive," I told the Doctor as they dropped the man who was wincing in pain. "Yes, Alpha." I stood around, watching the doctor tend to his wounds gently. Slowly, the color of his skin returned and he looked much better than he was when we brought him in. "He's stable now, Alpha, I will go check on the other patients," Doctor Allen excused himself with a bow and left the room. The young man on seeing that he was alone in the room with me and Kade let out a loud sigh as he locked gaze with me. It was evident that he wasn’t scared of us. I walked towards him with Kade at my side, keeping my eyes trained on him."Where's Damon?" I demanded coldly. His eyes darted between mine and Kade's, as he shook his head. "I don't know," he responded, and

  • His Revenge Pawn   Chapter 079

Damon's POV "Why is it taking so long for them to return? It's been eight hours," Alonso said worriedly as he paced about the room with his right hand on his chin. We were currently in the meeting room, awaiting the warriors we had sent after Lucian to return. Judging from the number that was sent to attack Lucian in his hideout, I was convinced that everything would turn out well. Besides, he was oblivious to the arrangements we've made regarding the war. But the warriors had not returned. It was almost nightfall, and I was starting to get worried, but I didn't show it and remained calmly sitting in my seat, gazing at the council members. At first, the council members were displeased when they found out that I wasn't going to war with the rest of the soldiers as that was the ideal thing to do. Alonso was strongly against my orders for his son, Eric, to take charge of the war. The rest of the councilmen saw his point and began insisting I join them in war. But I reminded them that

  • His Revenge Pawn   Chapter 078

Lucian's POV I opened my mouth to speak but didn't even know what to tell Kade. He stared at me expectantly, waiting for me to give a reply to his question but how do I explain to him that I have been biased in my judgment? That my judgment had been clouded by my desire for revenge against Damon and I sent the pregnant woman to jail over the evil of another?I averted my gaze from Kade, unable to return his piercing stare. "She's still in the dungeon," I muttered without gazing at him at him, my voice barely above a whisper, "I sent her there when I found poison in her possession.”"Poison?" Kade exclaimed in surprise, his brows furrowed in disbelief."What exactly happened in my absence? And how did you confirm it was poison?” I went ahead to explain all the events that happened between the pregnant woman and Agath, the spy maid Damon had sent to my pack, including how I had executed her and sent her remains to Damon, prompting the war. "I'm not sure what to do with her," I continu
