MELODY’S POV

After Damon rejected and broke my heart, I had convinced myself that I was over him and that I didn't need him anymore in my life, but seeing him today had brought back the memories I wished I could keep buried for eternity.

Pronouncing Amelia as his true mate in front of everyone was the first blow to my guts and now, his show of affection toward her had made it worse.

My chest suddenly felt tight and it was like I was suffocating as I watched Damon lift Amelia into his arm. His eyes were affectionate and filled with worry as he walked out of the room, holding her.

Watching the two of them made me recall that this was the same way he had held me during our intimate times. I could vividly remember the longing in his eyes when he hugged or kissed but now all of that was gone and replaced with pure hatred.
