One week later

Ezekiel's pov

I stood there on the sidewalk, looking at the glowing sign of the restaurant, and I honestly couldn't believe it.

Three years. It had been three whole years since Lysandra chose this life.

Today was the anniversary of the day she became a vampire hybrid, the day she left everything behind to start a new, strange life in Tarsus with me.

I felt her hand in mine. Her skin was cool, just like mine, but the way she squeezed my fingers felt so warm and full of life.

  • His Royal Breeder   Chapter 144

Eight years laterThe training grounds of the Castle hadn't changed much in eighteen years, but I certainly had. I wasn't the naive little girl playing with glitter anymore. I stood tall, wearing leather training gear that matched my father’s, my long dark hair tied back in a practical braid."Focus, Ariana," my mother, Lysandra, said. She was sitting on a stone bench, looking exactly the same as she did the day I was born, the perks of being a Dark Witch and a Vampire Queen. "Your magic is reacting to your heartbeat. Slow it down.""It’s hard to slow my heart down when Dad is trying to take my freaking head off!" I shouted, ducking just in time as a heavy practice sword whistled over my head.My father, Ezekiel, stood across from me and he wasn't even breaking a sweat. He looked at me with those piercing periwinkle eyes, a playful smirk on his face. "If you can't handle a simple sparring session, how are you going to handle the Council of Elders when it's your turn to rule? They

Ten years later Ariana's povThe sun was shining brightly over the castle training grounds, but I wasn't looking at the view. I was staring at a small wooden practice dummy that was supposed to be a bad guy."Okay, Ariana. Just like we practiced," my Mom said. She was leaning against a stone pillar, looking beautiful in her training gear. "Don't think about the fire. Don't think about the shadows. Just feel the energy in your tummy and let it out slowly.""But Mom," I complained, crossing my arms. "The energy in my tummy feels like a bunch of angry bees. If I let them out slowly, they’re just going to sting me!"My Dad, Ezekiel, laughed. He was sitting on a bench nearby, cleaning his big silver sword. Even though he’s the First vampire and super scary to everyone else, he always had a soft smile for me."The bees won't sting you, little wolf," Dad said, his periwinkle eyes glowing with a bit of mischief. "They just want to play. You have to be the boss of the bees. Tell them where t

Ezekiel's povThe weight of the old parchment felt like lead in my hands. It was a letter from a life I had tried to bury, written by the woman who had once been my entire world.I sat by the window of our bedroom, the moonlight spilling over the cursive handwriting that I knew so well and every word felt like a heartbeat from the past.Dear Ezekiel,If you are reading this letter, it means I am already long dead. My breath has left me, and I have finally found the rest I was looking for. I have missed you every single hour of every single day since that terrible night. I still see it when I close my eyes, the night we fought against the demon Dracula. We sent him back to hell, and we lost our friend Zayn in the process.I know how you think, Ezekiel. I know you blame yourself for every drop of blood spilled that night. I know you hate yourself because you feel you failed to protect me and our child. But most of all, I know you despise what you have become. You vowed to kill the mons

Calhoun's pov At the council chambers in the kingdom of the Blackfyres. I walked through the massive double doors, my boots clicking loudly on the marble floor. I was tired. My muscles ached from the tension of the night, and my mind was still playing back the image of Lysandra standing in that dark street, surrounded by my fallen guards."She's even more powerful than I imagined." I said to myself. The twelve Council members were already seated at the long, stone table. These were the elders of the Blackfyre clans, they consisted of men and women who had lived through a hundred years of war. They looked at me with sharp, hungry eyes, waiting for me to tell them that the Dark Witch was dead or that she had turned into a monster."Well?" Elder Silas asked, his voice like dry gravel. He leaned forward, his gnarled hands gripping the table. "Is the threat gone? Did she show her true face?"I took my seat at the head of the table and leaned back, crossing my arms. I let the silence s

  • His Royal Breeder   Chapter 140

Lysandra’s POV The restaurant had been like a dream, but the walk afterward felt even more magical. The air in Tarsus was cool, and the streets were mostly empty, bathed in the soft, amber glow of the old fashioned lamps. I tucked my arm through Ezekiel’s, leaning my head against his shoulder. My stomach was full, not just of blood, but of the rich flavors of a dinner I thought I’d never enjoy again. "You were right," I whispered, our footsteps clicking in unison on the pavement. "The chocolate in that dessert was fucking awesome... I could taste every single bean. It was like music in my mouth." Ezekiel chuckled, pressing a kiss to the top of my head. "I told you. Being a vampire doesn't mean the world loses its color, Lysandra. It means the colors get brighter. I want you to have it all. The magic, the strength, and the simple joy of a quiet walk at night." We turned a corner into a narrower street lined with tall, sleeping buildings and then I felt a sudden shift in the air

Her brown eyes were wide and beautiful, shining under the streetlights. Every time she looked at me like that, all my worries just melted away."Did you really have to do this, Ezekiel?" she asked. She was smiling, but I could hear a little bit of nervousness in her voice. She turned her head to watch the people walking past us. There were families laughing as they walked out the door, and couples holding hands as they went in

The room went deathly silent. The sound of Ezekiel’s heavy boots clicking against the marble floor was the only thing anyone could hear. He didn't look like a man who had just been released from punishment, he looked like a storm cloud ready to burst. Ezekiel...he had come for me..Zayn’s smile d

The smell of iron and waste hung thick in the air, a suffocating blanket that Zayn seemed to inhale like fine perfume. He didn't look away from the mess on the floor, instead, he wiped a small fleck of Lyra’s blood from his cheek with a silk handkerchief. He looked bored, as if he had just finish
