Auction

Weak knocking awakened River from her deep thought. She was busy preparing herself for the occasion but she was barely stopped by something that went through her mind.

"Miss River, is that over?" Troy asked outside her door. River let out a deep breath before answering Troy

"I'm done," her short reply. Troy slowly opened the door then entered and bowed to River.

"We can leave now Miss Madrigal,"

Troy casually said with one hand on his chest and one hand on his back. River nodded and then stood up. River wouldn't be wanted to attend the occasion that  Spencer have mentioned, but she did nothing because Troy told her that her family would be ruined if it disobeyed her boss’s wishes. So she was forced to accept Spencer's order, only because she don't want to put her family in danger.

She and Troy left the mansion at the same time and immediately a car was waiting for them outside. As they approached the limousine River caught a slight glimpse of the surroundings.

"Are you looking for something miss?" Troy asked. River immediately softened and continued walking as if she didn't know what Troy was referring to.

"N_nothing," her defensive reply. Troy knew who was river looking for so he smiled softly.

"Spynx can't be with you because he's still busy, but he'll follow us after he's done in the office." Troy acts casually at river. River didn't say a word but quickly got into the limousine and sat down as if she didn't care what Troy said. The butler immediately followed her and then rode next to the driver. River immediately raised one brow to Troy.

"Won't you sit beside me, Troy?" River asked Troy in astonishment. While Troy and the driver look at her confused.

"What?" She asked in shock at the reaction of the two. Troy immediately fell silent and then spoke with no emotion.

"Spynx strictly forbids us to associate with his women Miss Madrigal."

Earlier River had heard the name Spynx at Troy who he thought was referring to Spencer. 'why Spynx?' he asked herself.

"Why forbidden? And is Spynx Spencer?" River filled with curiosity. But instead of answering her, Troy did not spill and the driver started to drive without a word in front of her.

So River didn't say anything until they reached the venue of the occasion she was going to attend. River had no idea what she was going to attend because she didn't even bother to ask her companions who only numbered every answer they could give. River was amazed at the paradise venue she was in now and she could hardly believe that she was associating with the rich people. River could see and feel the difference between her and the guests there.

"Miss, there's your sit," Troy immediately told her while gesturing with his hand on a nearby table with only two chairs.

She followed it then went to the table and sat on the chair. Troy instantly called the waiter and whispered something to him. River just silently watched the people there until she was approached by Troy and brought her wine.

"A_ what's that Troy?" he wondered.

"Your wine, Miss." Troy's short answer, then slowly poured the wine into River's glass which was immediately restrained by the maiden's hand.

"Oh, Troy! I don't drink," she said to the butler. River has never tasted alcohol because she doesn't want to drink alcohol. so that's how easy it is for her to reject troy when he poured it into a wine glass. Troy looked at her and then put the wine on the table.

"Thank you, Troy," River said smiling. Troy showed her no emotion.

Then River just bows down and sighed. River knew that there was something different about Spencer's staff and she was slowly noticing those differences.

The party that River attended has already started but the person who insisted and threatened him is still not showing up. He was surprised when the host suddenly said that the auction would begin. So she looked at Troy full of questions. But she got no answer to it. As the auction and bidding went on, River could hardly comprise what she saw and knew. Because of her knowledge auction is for selling rare and valuable things, not women and men who are pure virgins as also mentioned by the host.

"Did you enjoy it?" River was slightly taken aback when she heard the cold voice of a man that she thinks is Spencer. 'and she was right!' the man just casually sit next to her.

"Troy! Where's my drink?" there was no emotion in his voice.

"Here's your drink Spynx," Troy answered seriously while pouring the drink into Spencer's glass. River was overwhelmed with fear and nervousness because of Spencer's presence by her side. She knew that the man was glancing at her so she tried to avoid his gaze.

"Don't you like to sip a drink?" Spencer asked her in a cold tone. She slowly shook her head and focused on the front of the stage where the host and the people being auctioned were.

'Damn! why am I terrified of Spencer's presence next to me!? ' River asked herself confused.

They both silently watched the auction not until Spencer suddenly talked.

"What if I include you in the auction?" He said. River was shocked by Spencer's words. 'What! Me? On that auction? how can he do that to me? ' she whispered to herself, gradually feeling hatred for the  man.

"So that your dad can pay me," he added. He looked at him and stared sharply.

"A_ what !? Are you crazy!?" she said harshly.

Instantly Spencer's grip on his goblet tighten, River knew he was angry with it.

"F*ck! You have no right to call me crazy you daughter of a devil!" he grinned at her. Which intensified his anger for Spencer.

She don't want to be furious with the man but it was too much for her, so she couldn't stop herself from talking to him.

"You also have no right to sell me to whomever you want me to sell!" she immediately told him then stood up and took a big step out of the venue.

She couldn't stop herself from crying, so she started to cry as she walked around the parking lot. 'what right does he have to sell me? Am I insufficient to pay my father's debt to him? ' then reality hits her! 'right!' Spencer hasn't gotten anything from her yet, so maybe he'll want to sell her. Rather, they lived under the same roof, which did not benefit him at all, but only made Spencer greedy.

River's cries intensified at the thought. 'why was dad able to betray me and sell me to that man!?' River knew that his siblings couldn't because they were still children, so she was the father's chosen collateral for Spencer.
