CHAPTER ONE- A NEW PACK

GABRIELLA

My heart pounded hard in my chest as my weak legs struggled to move as fast as they could. I was running in the thick of the woods, panting and looking over my shoulders in fear as sweat trickled down my forehead.

“Catch the thief! We must throw her in the dungeons “ I heard a baritone voice yell behind me followed by the chants of angry loud voices. I was being chased by a group of heavily chested guards with sticks, and my only saving grace was the fact that they couldn’t see properly.

I was just an average girl living in Stone Pack. My mum used to be a fantastic chef and had the knowledge of healing which she passed down to me, but she suddenly passed away.

After my mother died, my dad began to drink and gamble and ended up acquiring a lot of debt. In order to pay up, he sold me to a wicked woman at the age of ten, who made me work in her kitchen without pay.

Sometimes, she would burn me with a hot spoon or make me cook for hours without any rest. Other times, she would beat me up because I wasn’t working round the clock.

I inherited the gift of healing from my mother, and I applied the gift of herbs in my cooking which made my madam’s customer triple in size and that meant more work for me.

To make matters worse, the other employed chefs didn’t like me because all the customers only ate my food. They called me a witch and accused me of casting spells on their food to make them eat only what I cook,

My madam’s business boomed so much within twelve years I was working with her, that her restaurant became the best in the pack. It was always packed and full of customers who sometimes fought for a seat inside the restaurant.

Things changed when one of the chefs accused me of theft from one of the customers; the fearful Beta of the pack. His golden scepter was planted in my box and I knew I would be thrown in the dungeon when the investigation was over.

The only solution is to run, so at night. I packed about three clothes and wrapped them in a small sack before flinging it over my shoulders. I ran as fast as my legs could carry me but some of the guards caught on and began to chase me.

I knew they were closing in on me and I feared for my future. Suddenly, I felt someone grab my hand. I was startled, but I knew better than to scream or I’ll attract the guards. I looked at the person holding me and I could see it was a girl about my age. I would have wondered what she was doing here by this time but I was too tired and disoriented to bother.

“Come with me,” she whispered.

I nodded and followed her wherever she would take me. At least, it’s safer being with her than being caught and thrown in the dungeon.

She led me through a path I didn’t know existed till we were far away from the noise of the guards. I exhaled in relief, glad to have escaped them. I fell on the floor, panting like a thirsty camel as I tried to catch my breath.

“Thank you for helping me,” I managed to mutter. I was disoriented after escaping the guards who were after my life. I dusted the sand off my clothes and stood up. “ You literally saved my life,”

“Don’t mention. I couldn’t let a bunch of angry men catch a helpless damsel in distress,”

I liked her sense of humor and I summoned more courage to talk to her.

“I’m Gabriella. What’s your name?”

“Wendy,”

“Sorry, but why are you here by this time?” I asked curiously, clutching my old bag of clothes tightly.

“My mum works for the priestess so I came to see her. I could tell you're an omega and I know you all aren’t treated well in Stone Pack so I decided to help,”

I was thankful she had come to save me, or I'd have been caught and beaten mercilessly and thrown in the dungeon for a crime I didn’t commit.. The journey to the next pack, which was White pack, was long and unending.

I was thirsty and tired from walking all night. My feet were sore and swollen and I badly needed a place to relax.

We got there well into the morning and Wendy was kind enough to let me stay with her till I found my feet.

I was excited to be in White pack and started applying for jobs immediately. I saw an opening at Alpha Waylen’s mansion the next day. His mother died recently, and he is looking for a chef who can make mushroom broth soup exactly like hers.

The job came with a fat salary, and we were told that whoever cooked the special soup the way the Alpha wanted it would become his personal chef and that means an even bigger increase in salary. I was so excited after passing the online and physical interview which was done within two weeks. Some professional chefs came in to taste our food and five chefs were selected to work in the mansion.

Out of all the thousands of chefs to apply, I was among the top five. The thought of it warmed my heart.

I shared the news with Wendy and she was very excited for me.

“In order to celebrate, we’re hitting the club tonight. Don’t even bother to protest because you haven’t explored White Pack. This is an opportunity to unwind and enjoy yourself,”

I wanted to argue but I couldn’t. It wouldn’t hurt to have a little fun after my hard work so I slipped into one of Wendy’s hot dresses and off we went.

One of Wendy’s friends took us to his table upstairs in the Vip lounge and I had no choice but to follow them, my eyes darting around anxiously. My eyes fell on a man in a corner. He had the most beautiful brown eyes and the most structured face.

I have never seen a man so handsome in my life. I could see him smirk as he looked at me and my heart froze.

Oh my goodness! He’s staring!

My cheeks became red and I looked away. My heart was already beating fast in my chest and I feared that if I looked any longer, it would burst from excitement. This strange man looks sexually appealing, and his eyes.

His beautiful chocolate eyes made me feel a tightness down there. I shouldn’t be feeling this way, especially because I planned on keeping myself for my fated mate.

“I need a drink,” I muttered to myself as I tried to look away from the handsome stranger. There were lots of bottles of alcohol on the table in front of us so I let myself have a shot. My lips squeezed together as I felt the hot liquid burn my throat, but it felt surprisingly sweet.

I didn’t know alcohol could taste so nice and I found myself gulping down some more shots. I started to feel tipsy and didn’t realize when I stood up and began to dance.

Wendy was also drunk and she joined me on the dance floor as we both shook our hips to the beat of the music.L

Again, my eyes rested on the handsome man and I couldn’t stop staring at him. The way he looked at me made me want to melt.

I could see him walk up to me and I could swear I stopped breathing.

“Mind if we dance?” His deep voice penetrated into my ears. I didn’t know if it was the alcohol, but I ended up falling for the words of this man.

As he stood tall over me, his deep voice smooth like butter and his pretty eyes staring into mine felt exciting and thrilling.

We danced together and after a while, he enveloped me in a kiss. It was sudden and shocking, but it made the knot in my stomach tighten. I never thought a stranger could make me feel this way and it felt exciting.

He asked me to follow him to his room in a hotel opposite the club and I instantly agreed. The next thing I remembered was being intertwined with him in the sheets.

His tongue on my nipples made it harden like ice, and his dick inside of me felt like fire. It hurt, but I slowly began to adjust to his pace.

“You’re a virgin,” his brows squinted in surprise and I slowly nodded. He seemed impressed by that and tenderly worshiped my body till I had an orgasm and passed out from satisfaction.

CHAPTER FORTY- SECRETSWAYLENI stood still at the door, listening hard to hear if I could get pieces of information to fuel my knowledge.“There’s someone here. I can feel someone’s presence,” I heard her say at the other end of the door. Since she had figured someone was around, I knew she wouldn’t talk further so I knocked on the door.“Who is it?”“It’s me, Alpha Waylen,”“Alpha Waylen?” I heard her strained voice from the other end of the phone, followed by the loud sound of roughling, then the click of a metal. The door opened, and Agatha flashed me a crooked smile.“Alpha Waylen,” she gave a slight bow. “You’re here. I’m surprised,”“I need explanations!”She nodded and gave way for me to enter the house. I walked in, my eyes scanning around. The small room was empty and silent, only the occasional hiss of fire dancing in the fireplace could be heard. The room was filled with all sorts of weird drawings and writings on the wall, something ethereal, that only those that deal with

CHAPTER THIRTY NINE— LAKE DRAMAGABRIELLA I was hurt and traumatized. The fact that I was a few seconds away from death made my heart bleed. Even worse, it was from my mate. I couldn’t wrap my head around it and despite how serious the issue is, he has refused to tell me why he tried to strangle me.I wanted to be on my own and clear my head. The garden seemed like the best place to be, so I hastened my steps till I got there.I paused as I saw Christabel sitting on the bench and staring into space. Right now, all I want is to be alone, to be surrounded by the sweet scent of flowers, and watch the pretty butterflies—“Oh! Hello Gabriella!” Christabel’s voice snapped me out of my reverie. My eyes darted towards her as we locked gazes. I could see a small smile tug at the edge of her lips.“You’re here by this time,” I croaked.“Yeah. I got tired of sitting in my room,” she paused as she noticed the countenance on my face.“Are you okay?”“I don’t think so,” I sighed, my face tighteni

I didn’t realize when he began to strangle Gabriella. I was too busy, trying to fight him and gain control over my body as I plunged into a world of darkness. And then I could hear her tears, and then her voice.“Waylen—please “The words hunted me, and I struggled with the last strength I had in me. Her voice gave me a new found vigor and somehow, I managed to gain control over Erasmus and take control of my body.I let go of her and she staggered back, coughing as she held onto her throat.“Gabriella!”She slowly looked up at me, her eyes filled with fear as her body began to shake. I was broken by the sight of her. The way she looked at me like I was a monster hurts like hell.“Please, I’m sorry—“ I took a step forward.“No!” She exclaimed, her lips quivering in fear. “Stay away from me!”And with that, sh

I wanted them to have the tastiest meal so I made sure everything I did was well thought out and carefully cooked to perfection.I was done at exactly seven and I glanced at the living room to see if the guest had arrived. I could see a strange lady in the living room, talking with Lady Sandra so I knew she had arrived.I placed the plate on a tray and carried it firmly in my hands as I went to the living room.“Good evening,” I gave a slight bow. “I’ll be your chef for—“I stopped talking as Lady Sandra’s guest turned to face me. I was falling helplessly for him and all I want right now is to enjoy the moment.Just then, Olive appeared in front of me with folded arms.“So this is where you are? I don’t—“She paused as she stared at Wendy, blinking hard at her. I watched in confusion as they both stared at one another.“Have you two met before?” I asked curiously, looking from Wendy to Olive and watching their mannerisms.“No!” Olive answered sharply while I stared at her in confusion before turning to face Wendy, whose face had lost color.“She’s right. I haven’t seen her before,”“Are you sure, Wendy?”“Of course I am. I think I just felt a little sick all of a sudden so don’t mind me,”“If you say so,” I sighed.“You know you shouldn’t be sitting out here while we slave in the kitchen. You’re not allowed h

We both don’t know our way around so we will make the best duo,”“Oh!” I scratched the back of my head, not sure of the response to give her.“I’m not sure I’m allowed to do that. Plus, I have to work to do,”“I’ll talk to Waylen so you don’t have to bother about that. So what do you say?” “Um…yes, I guess,”“Yaaaay!” She clapped her hands like an excited child. “Great, I’m happy to hear that. It was Wendy’s.She ran up to me and enveloped me in a hug.“Oh Gabriella! You have no idea how much I’ve missed you,” she laughed, breathing into my hair.“Me too,” I cooed, relaxi
