As I’m leaving the hospital, I see Daneil and Allen Vander. I try to give a polite smile, but it doesn’t reach my eyes. “Ellie,” Allen says happily, “What are you doing here?”“My dad is in the hospital again,” I tell him honestly.Allen looks around, “Where is your husband?” He says the word husband like it puts a bad taste in his mouth.“Max came with me Saturday and Sunday, I did physical therapy with his grandmother this morning, then came here. I told Max it was fine if he went to work.” I explained.“He’s probably with Vivienne,” Daniel sneered. I’m unable to hide the shock on my face. Daniel smiles, “Did he not tell you? Friday when he picked up Vivienne and that thing she tried to pass of as my child, he said you knew.”I continue to stare in disbelief. Allen touches my arm, “Ellie, did you really not know Max and Vivienne have a daughter together?” I shake my head, to stunned to speak. Allen and Daniel look at each other, before looking back at me. Allen softly says, “She got
MaxEllie and I are fast asleep in her old room. My phone begins to buzz. I groggily check it to find it’s Vivienne. Annoyed, I declined her call. She immediately calls back. I ignore her call four more times. I’m about to block her number when I remember Chuck instructed me to keep the line of communication open.Slowly, I creep out of bed and exit the room, making sure Ellie is still asleep. Before I can return Vivienne’s call, she calls for the eighth time. I finally answer, “Why are you calling me in the middle of the night?"“Max, Daniel went through my emails. He knows everything. They are kicking me and Juliana out of the house. He cut off my credit cards. Please, we have no money and no place to go. Please, I know I was awful to you, but my daughter doesn’t deserve this.” Vivienne says crying.“What do you mean he knows?” I asked.“He knows Juliana may not be his daughter. Max, Daniel said awful things to her. He even let it slip that you are her father. Now she’s asking for y
Max and I lay in his bed. I can hear his heart pounding along with mine. “Do you think there will be bruises?” Max asked in a teasing tone.I laugh, “Who cares, Vivienne isn’t worth my thoughts. As long as I’m the one in your heart, she doesn’t matter.”“It’s only you, kitten. No one else matters.” Max replies.“Daddy?” I whispered.Max looks at me, a slight grin pulls at the corners of his mouth. “Yes, Kitten?”“I’m so tired now after pleasing you. Do you think we could order food tonight?” I asked.Max has a playful grin, “Anything you want, kitten. How does the bistro sound?”I smile, “Could we get the pistachio tart too?”Max kiss my forehead, “Of course, kitten.” Max has a devilish grin, using the back of his three fingers, he traces from my chest down to my belly button, “You need to do something for me, though, kitten.”“What Daddy?” I asked.“Get out the plug and lube.”I quickly get out the items and hand them to Max, then I bend over the bed. Max comes behind me. He begins m
I’ve dealt with Max’s odd behavior for two weeks. He has slept in the guest room every night. I’ve tried talking with him, but he just tells me to trust him. Today, I can’t handle it anymore. I take my things and put them in my old bedroom. I know Max has been fighting again, so I bought him a pair of knuckle guards. I wrap them in a box and leave them on his pillow.I’m reading on the couch when Max gets home. He typically doesn’t get off work until later. “Hello Max,” I say in a neutral tone.Max acknowledges me, but doesn’t engage and goes straight to his room. A short time later he comes out holding the box with the gloves. “You got me gloves?” he asked surprised. “You know that I’m fighting again?”“I had my suspicions. My hope is that you started staying out all night and sleeping in the spare room so I wouldn’t notices your injuries, and not another woman.”Max puts the box on the coffee table, “You’re my only woman Ellie.” Max sits next to me as I put down my book. The moment I arrived for my first day of work. A manager approaches me, he introduces himself as Andrew McKinney. The first task he gives me is to get everyone’s coffee. “Interns run errands for everyone until they show they can handle larger tasks. Go around and take how everyone likes their coffee and make it. Then take the mail.”I nod and go around the office introducing myself and asking about coffee. I write down the coffee orders and make it. After delivering them, I take the mail. Once that is done, I am given another task of hunting files. It feels like I’m more of an assistant than an intern. Around lunch, I check my phone to see that Max canceled our plans. I’m disappointed, but it is short lived when everyone gives me a list of their lunch orders. Luckily Paul drives me to the four different places to pick up lunch orders. Then I grab something for myself. I eat it in the car and deliver lunch. The rest of the day is spent cataloging files that look already cataloged. By t
MaxIt’s Ellie’s first day and my first day back at the office. I kiss Ellie one last time in the elevator. “Good luck today, kitten.” I whispered before kissing her again. “Come to my office at lunch.” I tell her while giving a gentle squeeze her back cheeks. “There is a project I need an accountant’s input.”Ellie blushes, “Yes, Daddy.”“You’re such a good girl, kitten.” I say while giving a firmer squeeze. Ellie lets out a soft moan that almost sounds like a purr. “I can tell your boss that you will be running a little late this morning. That you needed an orientation.”Ellie has a coqui smile, “That’s very tempting, but I shouldn’t abuse my position as your wife. I know I only got this job because of you.”“Nonsense. You got this job on your own accord. I simply filled in you application. You did the work and the interviews.” I explained.“Do you want them to know I’m your wife?” she asked.I wrap my arms around her waist, “I want the world to know you’re my wife. If I gave you th
