My mate

                                        Third-person point of view:

                                           14oo years in the past

Lucas was known to be one of the strongest alphas who ever existed - not because he was gifted or any sort of special, but only because he was cursed...

Well, he wasn't him alone, but all of his pack in general and his Luna in person.

The story started about 1400 years ago, yes he's not that young, but he never seems to be that old either.

Right after that Lucas found out about his mate... And I got to say his "human mate," things started to get in the wrong way. Know that a normal werewolf has to always be the kind of overprotective creature toward their mates, so how about a possessive alpha?

That's why the moment he met her - Stephanie, his young and beautiful human mate, he fell in love instantly. Not to mention that he felt the need to protect her from other males...

On the other hand, Stephanie was a beautiful girl with long black hair, white snow skin, red cherry lips, and a small skinny body.

She grew up in a clan where her father was a chief, and she was the only girl in her family, along with seven other brothers.

When she turned 19, she was engaged to a guy named EARL. Just like her, he was his clan chief son and future chief-to-be.

To end in a long-term battle between both of the clans, who happened to be already sharing the same land - the major reason for their battles. Both the chief son and daughter have to get together as a wife and husband, for the rest of their life to reunite their land.

To celebrate their wedding, all sorts of leaders and strongest warriors were invited to witness this prominent sign of peace, including alpha Lucas, who was known among humans for the fact of being a powerful warrior and prominent leader.

Sailing from his land, Lucas managed to get to where he was invited one day before the wedding ceremony, along with some of his trusted people.

What he didn't expect to find was his mate there. Not just that, but his mate was the bride, and she was about to get married to someone else.

At first, he tried to act rationally by taking a step toward Stephanie. He knew that the mate bond would start working on both sides, and he was planning to take advantage of that.

To get Stephanie out of the mess she was in, he decided to take a step toward her. He wasn't going to allow her to be with somebody else, not even that guy named Earl, who for sure won't be able to love or even protect the way he would do to his mate. She was his to love, his own to protect and his own to take care of ... What he was not expecting was that his mate would reject him.

For sure, Stephanie felt the pull to award Lucas the first time she saw him, and that did scare her. It wasn't normal for her to feel that way for a stranger, not when she was only one day away from her wedding.

She hated how she felt about him; she felt guilty, especially when she remembered how she enjoyed the stranger's kiss...

Yes, that stranger had kissed her, and unlike what she should've done, she kissed him back. That's not all. He asked her to trust him and to run away with him.

Is he serious? Why would he think that she would betray her people to be with him? Her people's trust. That was the only reason why she rejected him.

But, he was too selfish to see the whole thing from her point of view. The only thing he was able to see was that she turned her back on his proposal and chose to pick someone else's side.

At the same moment, Lucas felt the rejection's pain and lost control of himself. He ended up shifting to his wolf form.

From a handsome human, he becomes a huge black wolf with red eyes, watching Stephanie like she is a sort of prize that he should take no matter what happens. She was his to claim, and he wasn't ready to give up on her.

Terrified by what she saw, Stephanie runs straight, not looking back at what she left behind her. The first person she met while she was running was Kayla, her close friend.

Without uttering any sort of words, Stephanie takes Kayla by hand and runs along with her until they are stopped by a cliff.

Behind them stood Lucas in his wolf form. The two girls were beyond scared. They were both locked between a gigantic monster on one side and a deadly cliff on the other side.

At that moment Kayla took the decision and grabbed Stephanie by hand. They jumped both from the Cliff, leaving the world once and for all.

On the other hand, Lucas was standing up on the cliff, trying to get what just happened. Did he just find his mate? Well, yes - and she's dead right now, and worse, it's all because of him.

Why did he have to lose his self-control in front of her? She was human. After all, she wasn't used to believing in werewolves' existence. He should've protected her from himself - yet he caused her death.

Now should he live with that guilt for the rest of his life or would he better follow her to the other side of the world ...

Just as he was lost in his thoughts, a scream full of pain and sorrow from behind interrupted him.

It was a woman's scream, and not any woman - a witch. That happened to be Kayla's mother, and she just witnessed her only child dying because of that wolf next to her.

Kayla's mother wasn't just a simple witch, she was one of the strongest. Like all other witches, she used to live among humans, while hiding her secret to keep herself and her daughter alive. But nothing went just like she wanted since her daughter was gone now.

With so much anger and fury, Kayla's mother used all sorts of power she's having to spell a curse on Lucas. She cursed him with immortality, he will be forever lonely but not alone. Lonely because he'll have to witness Luna's death over and over and not alone because he's having his pack stuck with him. The only way to break his spell is to learn how to love.

Anger ran over his veins as the witch cursed him with his most precious belonging, his mate. In no time, the old witch was nothing more than a dead body.

Somehow, Lucas seemed to enjoy the thought of his curse. After all, it might be a chance for him to fix things with his mate - little he knew about was waiting for him.

Years passed and the two lovebirds got to see each other on more than just one occasion. Unlike what he was expecting, things did not seem the same as he wished. It was always the same. It all started and ended up in the same tragic way: the death of Stephanie in front of her mate.

However, he tried his best to avoid her - his mate. He believed that maybe by not having her in his life, she might survive the curse.

The issue is that she gets into his life in one way or another. The same things keep happening for about 1400 years, and every time it ends up the same.

Well, not this time...
