Ashton kicked open the door to his apartment, which was engulfed in a tragic darkness. His house was never so dark before. Katherine always made sure to keep it well lit and ventilated. Now that she was gone, both his house as well as his life felt awfully dark.

Ashton's hands stumbled against the wall in search of the switches to turn on the lights but with the amount of alcohol in his body, even standing still on the ground was becoming too difficult for Ashton.
