Chapter Six

As Cameron and Phoenix walked into the lady's room. Phoenix strides toward the mirror and takes out her red lipstick. While Cameron stares at her, still glancing at her wristwatch now and then.

"Come on hurry up!"

"Relax girl, is not as if the teacher gonna reprimand us"

Cameron rolls her eyes. "I have to be in class"

"I care about class but I care more about my looks"

"Who doesn't care about it?"

Phoenix arched up her brow at her. She doesn't need to spell out that her dear best friend doesn't care about her looks and she doesn't entirely blame her. She knows her story and so Cameron just didn't have it in her.

"Don't give me that look"

"What look?" Phoenix feigns to be ignorant of her statement.

"You know what I mean"

"Fine! I do" Phoenix said. She put her lipstick into her bag and glanced at Cameron through the mirror. "Are you seriously not going to come to the party?"

"We've talked about this Phoenix"

"We did but then you didn't say anything specific"

"My Dad's not gonna let me and what about Samantha? She gonna be there and I will just be in more trouble"

"Is a big party. It's lit! That bitch wouldn't even notice you are there"

"What if she doesn't?"

"What if she does?" Cameron states the obvious.

Samantha was a party girl, at every gathering and event. The socialite made herself present even without an invite. But who wouldn't want to invite her? It has never happened. She knows what to bring to the dance floor.

"You know she's gonna be there"

Phoenix exhaled. Her best friend was right. Samantha was everywhere: at school, parties, events, gym, and even in the club with Jared. Phoenix scoffed as the memory of Samantha and Jared at the club shot through her mind and she pushed off the feeling. Those two were something.

"Of course, I know but then if you're gonna keep looking at that, you will never live your life"

Cameron stared at her, she was right. Deep down, she wanted nothing more than to get away from the house. Go to this Party and live life to the fullest. What's the harm? What could go around at a college party?

"So what's it gonna be?" Phoenix flips her hair.

"What do you think?" Cameron moves closer to the mirror and turns on the tap. She throws water on her face.

"There's gonna be music. Loud music" Phoenix whispers seductively in her ear and Cameron rolls her eyes. She knew what she was doing.

"I know what you are doing"

"What am I doing?"

"You are trying to get me to go to a party"

"Isn't that good?"

"No is not"

"Why is that?"

"I already told you"

"And I already told you that your sister wouldn't even notice your presence. Do you know why?"

"I think I will pass," Cameron said sharply.

Phoenix was going to say something she wouldn't want to hear. She wasn't a prude or anything but Phoenix has no filter. She was a girl in school.

"She's gonna be smooching with the hunk Jared"

"I said I will pass"

"I think I heard you but hey! I didn't see your ear bleed"

Cameron rolls her eyes. "You're unbelievable" She was only lively when Phoenix was around.

"But honestly girl, you don't wanna miss this. There's gonna be food, lots of them, and drinks"

"I don't drink"

"Yet" Phoenix added. Her best friend was such a good girl, no wonder Samantha stepped on her toes all the time.

"You have to get out sometimes. What's the harm? Is just a party"

"A college party with hormonal boys"

"I love hormonal boys. They know how to get some"

"Fine! Let's say I think about going to this party"

"College party"

"What am I gonna wear?"

"How will I leave the house without Samantha or Dad seeing me?" Cameron asked.

The thought of her Father catching her while she sneaked out of the house sent chills down her spine. She can only imagine what he will do to her. Running her hand meticulously on her arm, Cameron winced. She still remembers the pain that surged through her body when her father wiped her. He was ruthless and Cameron didn't need anyone to tell him that.

"Who are you scared of? Your father or sister"

"You forgot the villainess. My annoying stepmother"

"Oh, the witch!" Phoenix forgot the brain behind Samantha. She called her a witch. Although in front of her, she puts on an act so her best friend doesn't become the current object of her wrath.

"She's not a witch"

"My gosh! Are you defending her?"

"Maybe" Cameron winked at her and Phoenix scoffed. Her friend had a uniqueness for being plastic. "The walls have an ear, you don't know who might be listening"

"Speaking of listening…" Phoenix walks around checking if someone was occupying the space. "All cleared"

"You should have checked earlier," Cameron said. If someone had heard her making plans to go to a party it would have been worse. What if it was one of Samantha's lackeys?

They would probably run to her spilling everything they have heard and she would be in bigger trouble with her father. He would lock her up and whip her hard till her skin becomes sore. That was how it has always been and Cameron knows better than to be very careful until the day she would finally leave his house.

"That was close"

"No one heard us"

"Yea I know but we have to be careful"

"Very careful. So now, no one heard us and no one is here. Are you gonna go?"

"Are you sure this isn't going to be a waste of time?"

"It isn't. You're gonna love it" Phoenix said seductively which piqued Cameron's interest. A college party seemed so alluring. She heard stories of college parties and how amazing they are. She has also heard that they are trouble.

"College boys can be loving"

"I also heard they are trouble".

"Do you know how many high school girls are dating college boys?"

"We wait for our mate"

"I get it but until we hear our wolf howling. We need to unwind. Get down with one of those hotties"

"I'm not gonna have sex in a college party" Cameron bites her lower lips. She has never thought about having sex. Although, she had imagined how it happened.

"I never said you should have sex except for us if you want to"

"No! I don't wanna have sex, especially at a college party with hormonal boys"

"So is it a yes or a no?"

Cameron arched up her brow. The invitation was tempting and she couldn't deny the fact that she wanted to be at this party.

"Yes!"

Phoenix jumped up triumphantly as though she had won a prize and Cameron just stared at her.

"You should calm down"

"This is gonna be sweet! You are going to have the best time at this party. Trust me, you're gonna thank me later" Phoenix said suspiciously.

"Why? Are you planning on setting me up with a guy?"

"Is it bad?"

"No… I mean yea! I don't want any boy"

"When was the last time you got laid?"

"You should filter your words?"

"Don't be a prude"

"I'm not a prude Phoenix but there's a limit to being loose and you just happened not to know that"

"Fine! Ms. limit. You have to get down"

"I'm not gonna get down with anybody. If this party bores me, I'm out besides I have a shift tomorrow and I need to wake up"

"Bored? Are you nuts? I know the host, he's one of the rich kids"

"You know everybody"

"I don't! I just know the lit ones. The baddies"

"And I happened not to be one of them?" Cameron smiles but it doesn't reach her eyes which doesn't go unnoticed by Phoenix.

"You may not be the lit one but you're a lot, trust me, girl. I wouldn't have made any friend better than you"

"Are you saying that to make me feel better?"

"No but do you know what will make you feel better?" Phoenix runs her hand through her perfectly combed hair.

"What is?"

"The party"

"Fine, I will go! But make sure you don't set me up with someone"

"Deal. So are you gonna come over or should I pick you up?"

"Are you nuts? You can't pick me up. I will sneak out once my sister goes out"

"The bitch is better"

"Right. The bitch"

"You have to be careful"

Cameron arched up her brow as a sinister smile danced on her lips. "Don't worry I got it all covered"

"I know that smile" phoenix saw right through her friend. She is not as innocent as she looked. "What are you planning?"

"A surprise"

"That sounds wicked," Phoenix said. What could Cameron be planning? Whatever it was she doesn't mind as long as it gets her to the party. "One question though, how do you intend to get rid of your sister?"
