~Sara Pov~
The Taxi stopped at the right place and the driver's voice saying we were here jolted me out of my daze. I looked out of the window and my eyes lit up with happiness on seeing the familiar place, David, my Boyfriend's home.
I wonder how he would react seeing me travel from New York to Los Angeles just to see him. picturing his reaction—the way he'd light up when he saw me standing there, I couldn't help the mischievous smile that popped up on my face. David always said I planned things like surprises, and he wasn't wrong. This was going to be his best Christmas present ever.
I stepped out of the car; my suitcase dragged along with me. The biting cold of the winter's eve wouldn't even be felt on my skin, all that filled my heart was anticipation.
Three years—that was how long we had lasted. Three years of laughter and shared secrets and whispers of dreams. Three years planning our life: a house, children, everything.
Now, everything has fallen into place.
My hand instinctively went to my stomach. I hadn't told him yet. I had wanted it to be perfect—to see the light in his eyes at the exact moment I told him he was going to be a father.
I smiled to myself and went up the stairs, my heels stepped softly on the stone. I knocked softly at the door once, and—
No answer.
I frowned and tapped again. Nothing.
"David?" I called out, leaning in. There was no answer.
He must still be at the office. But what was he doing there at this time? Workaholic!
My excitement was a little dimmed by that thought, but it didn't matter. I'd just surprise him there instead. I turned back to the waiting taxi and waved it down once again.
"To Packer Enterprises," I told him, giving him the address of his office
building.
The driver nodded and off we went.
In no time we got there, I thanked the driver and stood before a sleek, modern building.
David would sometimes stay late at the office. I wasn't surprised, for he was that kind of very dedicated man who always wanted to do more and was never content with what he was doing. That was one thing I could respect in him.
But tonight, I just wanted to remind him to slow down and appreciate the little things in life. I squeezed the box in my hand hard as I pictured how his face was going to light up the moment he tore open the lid and found that ring inside it.
The ride up to the highest floor seemed to take forever. Each soft tinkle as the elevator passed the floors was a test to my patience. And finally! We got to his office.
His office was at the end of the hall, I saw the door slightly ajar to let in a warm light flow into the dim hallway.
My eyes lit up thinking of meeting him soon. I walked nearer and then heard s
Voices—or should I say Sounds?
I raised my eyebrow. “Is he with someone?”
I took a step nearer, then as if I was shot, I went still with what I just saw.
David. His arms were wrapped around Emma Lane, his secretary. Her blouse half-open, her lipstick mussed. His lips on hers, his body pressed to hers in a way that turned my stomach inside out.
My body shook with agitation, The world turned upside down at that moment, My chest got tight, and the air in my lungs just vanished. I stood there, unmoving, as my head struggled to make sense of what my eyes were seeing.
The box slipped from my fingers and fell onto the floor with a soft thud.
Then David's head jerked up, and he separated from Emma like he'd taken an electric shock. His lips were still reddened from the kissing, his shirt wrinkled from where her hands had been. His face bleached the minute his eyes met mine.
“S-Sara?" he stuttered, his voice cracking.
The room started spinning around me. My vision began to blur. My chest was heavy, squeezed tight, making it difficult to breathe.
I swallowed hard, "David…"I muttered, My voice was barely audible, but it was shaky.
He took a step forward, his hands upraised in a gesture of placation, but I took an instinctive step back. "Sara, I… I can explain-”
"Explain?" I cut him off. My voice cracked and trembled. My legs felt like they were going to give out any second, but still I forced myself to stand. I glared at him, "I saw you! What, exactly, do you plan on explaining?!”
I looked at Emma who didn't bat an eyelid. She just leaned back against his desk, blouse still half undone, lipstick smudged over her mouth, with the smallest curve playing about her lips like she was expecting this.
"I…” David looked from her to me, his shoulders slumping very slightly. "Look, Sara, maybe this isn't the time-”
"Not now?" My voice shot up sharp, splintering. "I came here to surprise you! I came here to spend Christmas with you and to give you this!" I thrust my hand towards the box on the floor. My hands were shaking so hard, I felt like it wasn't my own anymore.
He looked shocked then flicked a glance at the box, looked away, almost as if he couldn't look at it himself. "Sara, I—"
"Don't!" I cut him off again. my chest heaving. "Don't you dare make excuses! Don't you dare stand there and act like this isn't what it looks like!" I yelled angrily.
He sighed heavily and ran a hand through his hair. Frustration carved on his face as he muttered, "Fine," his voice no longer filled with the hesitation it had been. "You're right. This isn't what it looks like."
For a moment, hope flared to life in my chest, a wild, foolish hope. Maybe he will say it was a prank.
“It's over," he finished, voice now icy, bitter.
The room began to spin, I immediately held a table to stabilize myself.
My throat constricted and I forced out the words. "Wha… what did you say?”
He snorted and crossed his arms. "I'm telling you this isn't new, Sara. Emma and I… we've been seeing each other going on almost a year now."
The floor dropped out from under me.
"A year?!” You are lying to me right? This is a Christmas prank right?!
Chapter 21Alexander POVI stood in front of the mirror. I just stood there and stared. I didn’t move. I just looked at myself. My face, my eyes, my mouth. I slowly touched my lips with my fingers and a slow smile lit up my lips."Did I really fall for her?" I asked myself.I laughed a little. Is that even possible? Falling for her? Even if it were true, I don't believe I have fallen for someone in the spanse of two day's. It was unbelievable."This was supposed to be a quiet trip for me . It was supposed to be just rest, no stress, noise, no five hours-board meeting, no paperwork to attend to, no emails to read and approve, no appointment but rest, just the beach, the water, the wind. That’s all I came for," I said. But now everything has changed. I didn’t plan this. I didn’t see it coming. I didn’t expect her to. If anyone had told me I will coming back to New York with a wife, I would have gone as far as locking the person up for a conspiracy but here we are, I am married, my paren
Chapter 20I stared at him. My mouth slightly opened. Did he just ask that? Did he just say he wants to kiss me?He looked at me again. “Can I kiss you?” he asked again as if reading my mind.I didn’t know what to say. My body froze for a second. Then, before I could think too much, I nodded.I agreed to him kissing me, maybe I wanted it too, maybe I didn’t want to stop it.He smiled a little and pulled me gently. I ended up sitting on his lap. My heart was beating fast. My heart rate has not been normal for the past few hours. My hands didn’t know where to stay, maybe it should stay on his neck or wrapped around his waist. It was not as if I was new to all these but doing it with a man I don't know anything about was….He looked at me closely. His eyes were serious as his face came close. His lips touched mine gently at first, just light.I didn’t look at him. I couldn’t.He touched my cheek with his hand. His thumb rubbed my skin softly and gently ignited fire all over my body.“You
Chapter 19Alexander's POV I looked at her. She looked serious. Her eyes stayed on me. Her lips moved, but no sound came first.“I’m pregnant.” she finally said the heavy words.I blinked and my chest stopped for a second. I didn’t expect it. I didn’t even know what to say. I stood there, just staring at her face. I couldn’t speak. She looked down, like she was scared, like she was waiting for me to shout or walk away.I took a deep breath and then I sighed.“Don’t abort it,” I said. She looked up fast. “What?”“I said don’t abort the baby,” I said again. “Keep it. I don’t care if it’s not mine.”Her mouth opened slightly. “But… it’s not your baby. I didn’t even…”“I know it’s not mine,” I said. “But I don’t want you to get rid of it.”She kept quiet but I walked closer and sat beside her.“Listen,” I said. “Nobody has to know the baby isn’t mine, not my parents, not my friends, nt the media, nobody.”She opened her mouth again but didn’t say anything.“I’ll take responsibility,” I s
Chapter 18Sara's POV Alexander held my hand tight. He didn’t let go as we walked to the room. We didn’t talk on the way. I just kept thinking about his mom and his family. The way they all turned up for his unexpected wedding and made it something memorable and fantastic, about the way his mother smiled and heartwarming welcoming. About the card she gave me even though it was not necessary, but giving it to me meant something to me, it melted my heart that she really cared and would love me to always call and talk to her, about the way they all welcomed me like I was already one of them even though they never knew me with Alexander from the start. When we got inside the room, I sat on the bed slowly. My legs felt weak, the pregnancy was taking its toll on me. I had forgotten I was pregnant and stood all through the evening ceremony. my heart was beating fast all of a sudden and to be honest I didn’t know why.Alexander came and squatted in front of me. He looked into my eyes. He smi
Chapter 17Sara's POV I didn’t know what to say. My mouth stayed open and my heart beat fast. I just stood there and stared at her. Alexander’s mother had really asked me when I would have a baby. A baby? I hadn’t even gotten over the wedding. I was still thinking about the sudden arranged wedding ceremony, the dress, the guests, the vows. Now she was talking about children?Who the hell does that? Well I guess she doesn't know anything about me and her son…had it been she knows all this was just a facade and something born out of my recklessness, she would not ask for a child.I tried to speak, but nothing came out. My mind could not even process a lie to her. I could not blame myself for acting dumb, the question came as a shock to me. I could not process anything at all.Alexander stepped in fast. “Mom,” he said. “You’re going too fast. Don't you think you are asking a big question? That’s between us. Let’s not rush anything. Okay when she takes in, we will inform you okay, be res

She didn’t want to meet my eyes. I didn’t say anything. I just turned to face the people.Everyone started clapping. Some people shouted "congratulations." Others smiled. Some were taking pictures. I saw lights flashing. There were so many eyes on us. I didn’t like attention, but today was different. I had to stay in control. I had to act like everything was fine.Sara looked at her hand. She kept staring at the ring. I looked at her. She didn’t say anything. I wondered why she kept looking at it like that. I wanted to ask but I didn’t.One of the hotel staff came to us. He asked us to come to the lounge. I nodded. I turned to Sara."Let’s go," I said. "We should
Chapter 15Sara's POVThe way he stared at me made me feel strange. I looked down, but I still felt his eyes on me. My heart beat fast. I did not know why. He came closer but I stayed still. CHAPTER 14ALEXANDER’S POVI stood there very quiet and still. I didn’t say anything but inside, I was boiling. I didn’t speak. I didn’t move, all I did was just keep thinking. My parents. No! Not my parents. It was my mother. This was all my mother. She was the one behind all this; the sudden wedding in the Maldives out of nowhere. This Maldives plan and this whole setup. It had her name written all over it.I looked at Sara. It was just me and her in the room now, the manager and his worker had left a while ago to finish the preparation of our wedding. I waited for her to speak but she didn’t.She was too quiet, too quiet, probably lost in thoughts, she was not saying a word. She was staring at the wedding gown. She kept on doing that– Just staring and not saying a word.I looked at her again but still nothing.“Are you okay?” I asked but no answer.Well…I waited thinking she was trying to process all this but all I got was still silence. Then I looked at the gown again. Chapter 13Sara POVWe were still trying to process what just happened right now and what the confetti thrown at us really meant when a lady stepped forward. Apparently she was dressed as a worker which meant only one thing, she was working in the Maldives. She was holding something. I blinked as she stopped in front of me. It was a white box. I didn’t know what was inside the box, but I had a strange feeling in my chest.“Miss, this is your wedding gown,” she said and smiled wide.Seeing I didn't believe her, she proceeded to open the box. I blinked and I moved closer to her and peered inside the box. Lo and behold, It was a wedding dress.I looked at the gown, then looked at her, then back at the gown again. My mouth opened, but no sound came out. Even if I had something to say, I was not sure I could speak, my mouth just kept on hanging wide open.“What… What do you mean? Who is this wedding gown for? The last time I checked I don't remember getting married and ordering a wedding g
