Harry's POV

Giselle Huberman's car finally pulled up with just ten minutes left before the attraction closed. She got out, looking annoyed.

"Why do you always have to go off taking pictures? We had to drive all the way back here this late at night just to get you. I don't see what's worth taking pictures of," she snapped.

I'd spent five hours waiting in the bitter cold, only to be blamed the moment she arrived.

She never once explained why she refused to take pictures of me or why she always got irritated whenever I picked up a camera, even though her phone was filled with photos of Steven Rudd.

My eyes stung, but I refused to let the tears fall.

Steven casually wedged himself between us, wearing an innocent smile.

"Harry, don't be mad at Giselle," he said. "Good thing she'd planned the route for me ahead of time. We got to hit the tourist spot quickly and then came back to pick you up. See? She's not as careless as you said."

I felt all the strength drain from my body. I couldn't even clench my fists.

I'd spent two years trying to convince Giselle to go on this trip with me. She always said planning a trip was too much trouble, so I'd taken care of everything myself to spare her the hassle. I even put together a 20-slide PowerPoint just for it.

But now I realized she wasn't too lazy to plan a trip. She just wasn't willing to make the effort for me.

Giselle affectionately ruffled Steven's hair, and the anger on her face gradually faded.

"Alright, alright. I'm not mad anymore. Here, put your jacket on," she said.

That was when I noticed the jacket draped over her arm wasn't for me. She'd brought it for Steven.

My clothes were damp from the mist, and I shivered in the cold. Steven quickly handed me the jacket, giving Giselle a reproachful look.

"You really don't know how to read the room, Giselle," he said. Then he turned to me. "Here, put this on and go change out of those wet clothes."

I wanted to refuse his pity, but I was so cold I could barely feel my body. In the end, I went to the restroom to change.

When I was about to turn on the faucet, I heard Steven chuckle outside. "I told you Harry would cry when we got here. Pay up. That's 50 bucks."

Giselle let out a laugh. "You know him too well. Fine, fine. Here you go."

Steven sounded disapproving, but there was a hint of smugness in his voice. "You should be ashamed of yourself. You don't even know your fiance that well. You're not usually this clueless."

They tried to keep their laughter quiet, but every word still reached my ears.

I looked at my pale face in the mirror and couldn't help finding the whole thing absurd.

I'd been hungry and freezing for hours, only to discover that I'd been nothing more than a source of amusement for the two of them.

I dried my hands, closed my eyes for a moment, and pretended that I hadn't heard a thing.

Harry's POVEverything around us seemed to go still for a moment. I ignored Giselle and walked away. She quietly followed behind me, just as she used to when she walked me home. But I no longer felt the excitement I once had. Some time later, we successfully wrapped up the new project. My coworkers kept pestering me to treat everyone to dinner, so we headed to a restaurant to celebrate. The private dining room was filled with lively chatter as everyone drank and toasted one another. Caught up in the mood, I had a few more drinks.Halfway through the meal, I excused myself to clear my head and went to the front desk to pay the bill.Just as I pulled out my wallet, a credit card was slid across the counter. I looked up to find Giselle."Use mine," she said.I insisted on paying with my own card. "No need."After I signed the receipt, Giselle grabbed my arm. "You used to let me pay all the time. Why not now? Are you really going to cut me out of your life completely?"The alcoho

Harry's POVWhen Giselle called me from a different number, I was at my desk, going through some paperwork."Harry, what the hell is this supposed to mean? You had Steven step in as the groom at our wedding?"I continued working on the documents while her shouting echoed through the speaker."Aren't you two so in love with each other? Since the venue and everything were already paid for, I figured I might as well let you two have it. Consider it a parting gift," I sneered, my voice completely flat. There was a long silence on the other end of the line. All I could hear was Giselle's angry, ragged breathing."Harry, are you ever going to drop this?" she snapped. "How many times do I have to explain it? There's nothing going on between Steven and me. We're just close friends. How long are you going to keep holding this against me?"I set down my pen and tried to stay calm. "I'm not holding anything against you. Giselle, we've already broken up. Don't get the wrong idea.""What?"

Third-Person POVOver the next week, Giselle kept checking her phone, waiting for a message from Harry.Steven moved in under the pretense of keeping her company. He slept in every day and constantly ordered her around."Giselle, can you pick up some brunch for me? I want that cinnamon oatmeal. Also, run me a bath. I want to soak for a while. Are you listening?"Giselle finally lost her temper. "Can't you do any of that yourself? I agreed to let you move in because you were supposed to keep me company while I waited for Harry, not act like you own the place!"Steven's expression crumpled. "I thought you were okay with it. I didn't know you'd get so upset."Giselle froze. The truth was, Steven had always been like this. In the past, she'd found his helplessness endearing and felt the urge to protect him. Harry, by contrast, had always been considerate and self-reliant. He looked after her so well.Without saying another word, she went to the cafe. "Hi, could I get a bowl of cinn

Third-Person POV"Harry!" Giselle shouted. The wedding suit jacket was still smoldering, sending up thick black smoke. The furniture nearby was charred, too. But there was no sign of Harry. She searched the condo over and over, then finally called him in desperation. But all she got in response was the same cold, automated message. "The number you have dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later."She couldn't understand why Harry wasn't picking up or why he hadn't followed them out. A growing sense of unease settled over her. She was about to rush outside to look for him when she noticed the blood around the smoldering jacket. His personal things were scattered across the floor, too.Only then did she realize how badly he'd been injured in the fire. Her heart clenched. "Why didn't he say anything?"Her panic kept mounting, and she stumbled out of the condo.Steven walked up to her. "How's Harry? Is he still mad at us? I don't know what's gotten into him lately. H

Harry's POVSilence stretched between us for several seconds.A flicker of panic crossed Giselle's face. "Harry, don't get the wrong idea. Steven's place is too far from his workplace, so I bought him a condo closer to work."She said it as if there were nothing unusual about it. But half the money she'd used to buy that condo had come from my hard-earned savings!Trembling with anger, I shoved past her and stepped inside. What I saw sent a chill through my entire body. Everything was in pairs, and all of it had clearly been used. The place looked like the home of a couple who'd been living together for years. So all those nights she had claimed she was working late at the office, she'd actually been here with Steven.I looked up and saw him coming down the stairs, wearing my custom-made wedding suit. When he spotted me, a smug smile spread across his face. That suit meant everything to me. It was made from the silk and gemstones in my dad's wedding suit. Every time I tried it

Harry's POVGiselle froze for a moment, disbelief written all over her face. Then she let out a cold laugh."I had no idea you were into playing mind games now. Harry, you're not a teenager anymore, and we're getting married soon. Are you really going to keep acting like a child?"She paused, then added, "Steven is sensitive. You can say whatever you want to me, but leave him out of it. I'll pretend you never said that."I almost asked her why she was always so quick to defend Steven when I was her fiance. But I held my tongue.Thinking she'd smoothed things over, Giselle softened her tone a little. "I have some work to take care of at the office. Get some sleep."She didn't come home that night.Steven posted a video on his social media that was visible only to me.In the video, he showed off his toned back and muscular build, striking an almost suggestive pose. Then Giselle stepped into the frame."Like this." Her fingers lightly brushed against his skin as she adjusted his
