CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN

"No, seriously Cole I did think of you the whole time," Emily shouted into her phone. After she had dropped Marcus off at work, she spent her day at her friend’s house to do some homework after which she went shopping. She had promised Cole she would be at his house by 7:00 pm and she was almost late.

“You didn’t,” Cole mumbled trying to sound sad.

Cole blabbed about how he was sure she was lying—which she was.

“Oh, crab!” she exclaimed.

“What’s the problem?” Cole asked.

“I forgot the cookies I baked.” She muttered.

“My cookie?”

“I am afraid so.” She mumbled

“Well, you better go get them.”

“You know this is all your fault, I know I should have put them in the car yesterday,” Emily grumbled, turning the car around.

“So are you going to get the cake?” Cole asked abruptly alert.”

“Yes Cole, do you not want me to get it?”

“No, no, you should get it.” He said quickly. Emily heard his abrupt movement in the background.

“Here are you going somewhere? I think I heard you start your truck.”
