LOGINMeeting you was like listening to a song for the first time and knowing it would be my favorite – Michael Bliss.
~ The professor finished distributing the exams before he left the classroom. Eric let out a sigh and rested his head against a chair. He was scared he would fail the test, but fortunately, he passed. He grinned as he looked at the paper. Managing student life and parenting at the same time was a challenge. He barely had time to study as he had three part-time jobs and needed to take care of Leo when Monica was preparing for her exams. “You got it?” Kyrian jumped from the chair behind to sit next to him. “Yeah, I guess I got lucky”, Eric chuckled, “I would’ve lost my mind if I had to retake this one”. “I know, right?” Kyrian sighed, “the professor had no mercy on us. Say, are you free this afternoon? We could grab a cup of coffee or something”. “If only I could”, Eric gave him a sad smile. Kyrian nodded and patted his back, “thanks to you, I always remember to put on condoms before striking”. Eric hit his arm and glared at him, “Really now? I’m that example?” “You are”, Kyrian laughed, “as much as I find Leo adorable, I can’t imagine myself with a kid at this age. You’re really amazing, my friend”. “Sure, I am”, Eric let out a little chuckle, “it’s difficult as hell, but I like coming back home to Leo. He makes me forget all the struggles”. “Awwwn, do you already miss him?” Kyrian pouted, “go home now then”. Eric laughed, “I have something to do before I head home”. “What is it?” Kyrian lifted a brow, “I thought you did evening jobs”. “Yeah, but I got this weird job offer just this morning”, Eric answered, “I’m not sure how it’s going to be, but I will have a look today, and if I don’t like it, I’m going to decline”. Kyrian stood up and put his papers inside his bag, “what kind of job is this?” he put on his jacket. “Someone asked me to be their son’s bodyguard”, Eric said as he recalled the strange man from this morning, “he must be someone rich, judging from the expensive suit he was wearing and the fancy car his chauffeur drove”. “Oh?” Kyrian looked at him with confusion, “a bodyguard? Now that’s fancy”. “Fancy my ass”, Eric rolled his eyes, “I don’t think I’m going to like working for a spoiled brat”. Kyrian chuckled and put his arm around Eric’s shoulders as they walked out of the classroom. “Is it good money at least?” Eric nodded and gulped when he saw a black car parked in front of the faculty building, “that’s for me”. Kyrian whistled at the fancy car, “do you think you can get me a job there too?” he laughed. “You can’t even defend yourself, let alone guard someone else”, Eric rolled his eyes, earning a hit on the arm from his best friend. “I gotta go. I’ll tell you the details tomorrow”. Eric headed to the car, and a tall man wearing a black suit opened the backdoor for him. “Good afternoon”, Eric greeted and got inside, “thanks”. The man just nodded. The car smelled nice, and Eric caressed the leather seats as he’s never been inside such a fancy car before. He wondered if his new boss owned a big company. “So, where does he live?” Eric asked, looking at the driver through the rearview mirror. “The boss’s son, I mean”. “Young Master, Harry”, the driver corrected, “he lives near the university”. “I see”, Eric nodded. “I’m Henry, by the way”, the driver took off his sunglasses and looked at him through the mirror, “I’m the Young Master’s driver”. “Nice to meet you. I’m Eric”, Eric bowed his head in reverence. “You don’t know how lucky you are to get this job”, Henry said, “dozens of people apply to be bodyguards monthly. The chairman is very picky when it comes to letting people in his mansion. He doesn’t trust just anyone”. “Why did he trust me then?” Eric lifted a brow, “i didn’t apply or anything. He just saw me fighting in the street”. Henry stayed silent for a moment as he looked at him. He drove the car to a zone Eric has never been to before. There were no department stores or food stores. There were only mansions and trees. “He must’ve seen something in you”, Henry finally spoke, “I’m sure you’re special”. Eric scoffed, “there’s nothing special about me”. “We’re here”. Eric looked outside and widened his eyes when he saw the big mansion in front of him. It was like those fancy old-money houses in movies. There were large windows with black frames around the entire house. The garden was big, and a small water fountain stood in the middle of the premises. Eric scoffed as he walked between the trees. He thought it was unfair that some people lived very luxurious lives while he struggled to feed his family every day. He followed Henry inside, and they took off their shoes before the maids gave them new foot flips and offered them each a glass of water. “Where is the young master?” Henry asked one of the maids. “In his room. We just served him lunch”. “He eats lunch in his room?” Eric lifted a brow and followed Henry to the elevator. Yes, there was an elevator inside the house because rich people are too lazy to walk the stairs. They arrived on the second floor, and Eric was surprised to spot two bodyguards guarding a large door. “That’s the young master’s room”, Henry whispered. “Wait, he already had bodyguards?” Eric scrunched his brows, “why am I here then?” “Those two only guard the house”, Henry replied, “you my friend, are going to be his personal bodyguard”. The two men bowed to Henry and knocked on the door before they opened it, “Young master, Henry and your new bodyguard are here”. Harry, who was busy reading a book on his couch, rolled his eyes and smashed the volume on the glass table. He stood up and cleared his throat before he turned around lazily. “I said I don’t need a freaking bodyguard….”, he froze as he saw Eric standing by the door. Harry lost his voice when the young man greeted him. He was tall, with a slim figure and a heavenly face – just his type. “Nice to meet you, Harry”, Eric said. “Young master Harry”, Henry corrected and cleared his throat, “the chairman appointed Eric to stay with you from now on”, he said to Harry, “I hope you won’t get rid of him too”. “We’ll see about that”, Harry smirked and turned around Eric to take a better look at him. Then he looked at Henry and added, “you can leave now. I’ll take it from here”. Henry looked at Eric and nodded, “The maid bodyguard is with the chairman now. When he comes back, you’ll sign the contract and discuss your schedule and holidays”. After the doors closed, Harry came back to lie on the couch, “you study at the Business school too. How come I’ve never seen you?” “I don’t know”, Eric shrugged, “it’s a big school, and I’m a fifth year”. Harry hummed, “I’m a third year”. Eric nodded and stayed silent for a while as he looked around. The room was three times bigger than his flat. There was a large screen on the wall, and all the latest game consoles were above the TV table. About more than twenty books were on the shelves, and one was on the glass table. Eric guessed Harry liked to read a lot. Eric kept looking around until he saw something he shouldn’t have seen. The drawer from the bedside table was open, and it was full of condoms and lube bottles. There was something else inside, and Eric felt his cheeks burning when he guessed what it was – a dildo. Harry followed his stare and smirked, “I have lots of hobbies”, he said as he stood up to face him. Eric quickly looked through the window. “I heard you chased you previous guards away”. “Oh, I didn’t chase them. They left on their own”, Harry chuckled. “I see”, Eric nodded, “your father said you’re a little difficult to handle. Is it true?” Harry’s smile faded and he sent Eric a deadly glare, “I don’t know what he meant by difficult to handle”, he muttered. “I don’t know either”, Eric shrugged, “I’ll do my job as he asked anyway. I hope I won’t be one of those bodyguards who ran away”. Harry’s smirk reappeared on his face, and he approached Eric, “those bodyguards were old and boring, unlike you”. “How do you know I’m not boring?” Eric lifted a brow. Harry looked at his face and realized how perfect it was. His almond-shaped brown eyes stared at him, piercing his soul, and his dark hair fell above his brows. Eric was a handsome man. No one could deny it. “I’m already entertained”, he whispered, sending his warm breath all over his bodyguard’s face. But Eric didn’t flinch, and Harry knew at that moment that he was going to flee like the previous men. “That’s it!” Harry clapped his hands and headed to the bathroom, “I’m going to the club tonight”. Eric frowned, “The club? Don’t you have class tomorrow?” “I don’t always go to class”, Harry shrugged, “but I can manage both anyway”, he flashed him a smile. “But I can’t”, Eric thought to himself. “You can grab something from my clothes”, Harry said, taking off his sweatshirt, “I see we have the same size”. Eric looked away as soon as Harry’s abs appeared before his eyes. He cleared his throat and looked for the dressing room. It was only his first day, and Harry was already being a nuance. What do you think of the 1st chapter? What do you think of Harry’s character so far? How is that clubbing going to go? Any more characters you’d like me to introduce? If you’re new, make sure to add this book to your library and follow my account.QuinnQuinn saw the color drain from Cade’s face, leaving it ashen. He tensed, ready to catch Cade if he fainted.“You’re firing me as your client?” Cade demanded.“Yes.”“You can’t do that.”Quinn crossed his arms over his chest. “I think you’ll find I can. CDR contracts give me the right to walk away from non-cooperative clients.”“Quinn—”He shook his head. “No. I take my job seriously, Mr. Connolly. And I expect my clients to do the same. You obviously can’t do that. You need to find someone else. CDR will be in touch. I’ll collect my things and Mogs.”It hurt Quinn to call him Mr. Connolly. He saw how Cade blossomed being called ‘Boy,’ but Cade flinched at the formal address.“You can’t.” Cade’s voice was barely above a whisper.“Can’t what?”“Can’t leave me. Can’t take Mogs. You’re my bodyguard.”Quinn ignored the comment about the cat. Much as he felt sorry for Cade, he wouldn’t give up his Mogs to anyone.“I’ve explained my reasons for leaving. I’m sure you’ll find someone els
CadeMeeting Eric had been a stupid idea, but Cade had been desperate to get out of the house, and Quinn saying no to him riding his bike and then just walking off made him seethe. He just wanted an hour away from the house. Was that too frigging much to ask for? And then Quinn walked away. Like he was nothing.Yeah, it had been stupid, especially after last night. He knew Eric couldn’t accept they were over. He’d gotten Eric’s call at the exact moment he wondered how he could piss off Quinn. Cade knew Eric still had things of his at his house. He’d written them off. But now Eric offered to bring them to the garden. A chance for them to talk in one of Eric’s favorite places, and for him to get his belongings. He’d blown past security, guilty and ecstatic. Even if Padraig or Jace was there, they wouldn’t be able to catch up with him.But the moment he saw the look in Eric’s eyes, he knew he’d been foolish. Eric didn’t want to talk, and he didn’t have Cade’s possessions. What he wanted
Quinn“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” he said out loud to the empty house. Then he sprinted around to the garage, not surprised to see Doug waiting for him.“Padraig has him in sight. He’s changed destination. Head for the Japanese Garden,” Doug said, handing him an earpiece.“Padraig?”“I’m here.” The soft Irish-American accent was barely audible above the engine and road noise.“The tracker is working well,” Doug said.Quinn and the CDR team weren’t born yesterday. They knew Cade was likely to bolt at some point. The tracker had been installed on the bike before it was returned to Cade.“Okay. I’m gone,” Quinn said, as he gunned the engine. His Hog was built more for reliability than speed, but she’d get him there. The gates opened as he approached, and one of Doug’s team waved at him while he concentrated on a phone call. Quinn knew Dominic would have already been informed.Cold anger coursed through him as he negotiated the busy streets.Defying him was a stupid, stupid
QuinnQuinn took a grim satisfaction in walking away from Cade. It was that or spank him. At some point Cade was going to have to realize that, when it came to his personal protection, Quinn was top dog, alpha boss etc. Of course, Quinn insisted on being alpha boss in any situation, which was why he generally worked with small teams, and on his own where he could. He was lucky that most of the time CDR gave him his head.He retreated to the den to catch up on conversations with the team who would be handling security at the live event. Big gigs were always a nightmare, with so much potential to go wrong.“You know I’m managing the bike event, don’t you?” Griff Larson groused as Quinn ran through his list of questions… okay, orders.“Yes.”“You could sound more convincing.”“My client is challenging.”“I’d heard,” Griff said dryly. Griff understood this was code for Cade would be a pain in the ass if he got the opportunity.“If he can find a way to buck the system, he will.”“It’s all
CadeCade listened to Quinn go down the stairs and smirked into the sheet.Sucker! He grabbed Quinn’s pillow to hug, and closed his eyes with a happy sigh. He had no intention of getting out of bed. Adult here. Cade didn’t need to be tied to Quinn’s schedule. He’d go back to sleep and wake up at a normal hour like four.He heard Quinn in the kitchen and his stomach rumbled loudly.“You can shut up too.”Another loud rumble.Cade flopped onto his back. Maybe the universe was telling him he needed to get off his butt and go find coffee. That was all he needed.Coffee, and then he’d come back to bed. Cade pushed back the covers and looked down at himself. He was naked. He hadn’t even realized he’d gone to bed without wearing pajama bottoms or sleep shorts. Quinn had dried him and put him to bed as if he were a small child. Cade felt his cheeks heat. He’d felt wanted and cared for and protected. Would it be too much to ask for that? His belly growled again.“Okay, okay, I get the picture.
QuinnQuinn woke up feeling as if he were being slowly crushed. He cracked open one eye to find Cade almost on top of him, still holding him tight.Quinn would bet Cade hadn’t let go of him all night. For a little guy, Cade was heavy. Quinn rolled them both onto their sides and took a deep breath, much to the relief of his lungs.Last night had been hard work all around for them. Quinn hadn’t wanted to go to the club, and seeing Strada there had added to his misgivings. He was just grateful Strada hadn’t caused too much of a scene.Quinn didn’t want to say, “I told you so,” to Cade, but maybe now Cade would listen to him. Strada wasn’t going to give up without a fight. At least now Strada had seen them together, and Quinn had made his claim. Would that make Strada escalate or would he back down? Quinn had a feeling Strada wasn’t the type to back the fuck off.He raised his head to take a look at the clock and blinked. Eleven. He never slept that late, although it had been nearly five
