Chapter Seventeen

Dai's POV

I'm awakened from a blissful dream where I'm in my room with Lia making out and suddenly she disappears from my arms and I jolt up from sleep. My first instinct is to turn to the other side of the bed which I find empty.

Looking at the electronic wall clock in my room I see that it's 7:30am but still no sign of Lia, even her clothes aren't in the room. I move to the bathroom to check if She's in there but nothing.

Throwing on a robe I rush towards the living room in search of Lia but no trance of her, and it dawns on me that she left without leaving even a note. She might be overwhelmed with what happened between us the previous night but it was the most amazing experience of my life.

I take my phone From the centre table in the living room and dial her number, it rings four times and goes straight to voicemail. I call five more times but it still goes to voicemail. She's avoiding my calls. I'll give her time to process what happened and we'll talk better on Monday.

    Dai's POVHolding Lia against her will made me feel terrible, seeing her cry in the elevator broke my heart so much. I had to let her go tonight not because I am giving up but I need to think about my plan to win her back. Last night was crazy, I felt dejected and abandoned. I promised not to drink when I decided to come to the US to find Lia, but I broke that promise and got wasted last night in my room. Wallowing in self-pity and thinking about the woman I lost.I can't remember what happened after drinking so much. My head hurts as I try to open my eyes, the curtains are open though I think I remember shutting them last night.     Dahlia's POVI became mute and froze at the spot I was standing at looking into the eyes of my baby's father, for the first time in a few months, he didn't look like his powerful self. The Dai Japana I knew who was he'll bent on making my life a living hell looked tired and stressed. Sara felt Hana was keeping a secret when she arrived New York, we had to force it out of her.She told us how Dai had been stalking Sara's home back in Tokyo and how he had been bugging her to help him win me back. I didn't believe my ears when she told us everything. So, I had just thought he won't be serious about finding me though I had to take on precautionary measures like, letting go of social media and just focusing on my Job at Rising Tech.Standing here staring at the man who made me cry for many weeks, battling depression and pregnancy hormones.     Dai's POVI am counting the minutes this jet has to land in New York and every hour that draws me closer to Lia, my older brother's wife couldn't get much out of Lia about the new company she's working at. Lia mostly engages in platonic conversations with her and Hana has told Abe to let me leave Lia make her own decisions. I understand her loyalty to her friend even though it hurts.Abe and I travel to the US together since he plans to see his girlfriend and spend quality time with her. I plan to trail Hana after her date with Abe tomorrow but things don't go as planned , Hana comes over with a small packed bag to see Abe at the hotel we are staying at. Abe informs me she is staying with him till he travels back. My hopes of seeing Lia shattered.Hana refuses to discuss about Lia with either of us and my best friend being a love sick puppy begged me to let go of trying to convince his woman.     Dahlia's POVMy job at Rising Tech has been great and working with Mr. Liam is a breathe of fresh air, he's truly gifted in game programming and gaming softwares. It's amazing how much I can put together what I learned at school to create a game that millions of persons can play.Almost everyone at the company knows I'm pregnant and it's a relief they don't treat me differently, they're friendly especially the ladies at the reception. They're always excited to see me when I enter the building every morning, they'll ask questions like 'how are you and the baby?' 'is the baby alright?' 'is it a girl or a boy?'. Hana and Sara will laugh out their hearts when I tell them, I'm just 2months gone and I'll rather get my baby's gender reveal at birth. Maybe I might change my mind along this journey. I tried reaching out to Hana but realized she hasn't been around and her manager refuses to let me know about her location. I was hoping to plead my way through to getting Lia's whereabouts from Hana.Hana's number is out of reach too and Abe has been too busy to pick my calls.
