Chloe's POV
The Neon sign was bright, bright enough for me to see from the distance.
*Comfort Bar* it read, it was the only place I could go to and not be reminded of how my life just plunged into a dark hole.
With tears still streaming down my face and a headache that could blind me at any given time, I walked all the way to the bar.
"What can I offer you ma?" The bartender asked as soon as I sat down on the stool close to him.
"Something strong enough to make me pass out for a day or two, something that will help me forget what I'm going through."
He looked at me like I had developed horns, but I knew his job description didn't allow him to probe further.
"Coming right up." He said instead and disappeared under the desk.
I sighed and looked around the bar. It was my first time at one and looked nothing like I had expected. There was a dance floor for people who wanted to do more than shake their head to the music.
"Here Ma." He said and slid the glass across the table to where I sat. I raised the glass to my mouth, the smell almost Making me puke.
Squeezing my face, I emptied the content into my mouth, the liquid burning my insides as it went down my throat.
"Can I have another?" I said giving him back the glass.
He gave me a questionable look but said nothing.
"Here."
I took the second glass and then a third. It felt like I was floating, everyone looked funny.
"Do you know why I'm out here tonight?" I asked the bar man who was attending to other customers.
"My father is giving me out to someone I barely know as a wife, Ironic right? That's my story. Want to hear the plot twist, I'm actually engaged to someone and guess what I found? My boyfriend who I was ready to run away with if my dad kept pushing for my marriage to someone other than him–" I belched.
"I found him in bed with someone else." I said, my words coming out with a slur.
"That's awful." I heard a female voice say. "But maybe you should listen to your father, he might have seen all this coming." She continued.
"I doubt that but–" I paused mid sentence when I noticed him.
He was tall, his hair covering the side of his face, I was tipsy so I couldn't make out his face but his physique was good enough to leave me staring.
"Him? You shouldn't be around someone like that. Your fiance is probably a tip of the iceberg compared to that man, he has the ladies dancing to his tune." t
The lady said probably noticing how long I had been staring at the man that just came in.
I took a sip from his drink. "Maybe his tune might be my favorite song." I said and followed him to the distance floor making sure I was close to him.
The DJ had switched the songs and the dancefloor was now filled with bodies rubbing each other to the rhythm of the sound.
Everywhere smelled of alcohol, sweet and sex but it made my adrenaline rush.
Without thinking, I moved close to him, he turned and my breath caught in my throat.
I relaxed when I felt his hands around my waist, slowly moving my body close to his, I moved in too, meeting every movement.
It felt good, it felt nice, I didn't want to stop, we continued dancing till he brought his head down and kissed my neck I froze.
It felt like an alarm had ticked in my head, I wanted to run, slowly I lifted my head to look at him, a big mistake.
My legs stood rooted in the same position, his eyes drawing me in. Slowly, my hands circled his neck as his lips came down to claim mine.

I woke up the next morning with a banging headache, every movement of my body made me wince in pain.
I had woken up to the sound of my phone ringing "Hello Dad, Good morning." I greeted sitting up.
"Where are you? I'm in your room right now and you're not here? I hope you have gone to see that riffraff."
"Dad, he's not–" I paused when the memories of last night came flooding back.
That bastard was the reason I had woken up with a bad headache, he was the reason I spent the night with a stranger.
A stranger? I finally remembered him, looking to the left part of the bed, I saw him sleeping peacefully.
"Hurry up and come back home, you're getting married today." He said and ended the call.
What did he mean by that? Who's getting married?
I stood up and dressed up quietly, the last thing I wanted was to wake him up. Looking at his handsome face for the last time, I closed the door behind me.
It was fun and we would probably not see each other again.
~•~
"Go upstairs and change" we'll be leaving in an hour's time." My father said immediately I entered the living room.
"What for Dad?" I asked, confused.
"You're getting married today, the guests are already in the church, we don't want to run late." He said and turned to leave.
"Why are you doing this father? I told you that I don't want to marry him, I'm not going anywhere with you."
He turned to look at me "If I were you, I would go upstairs and do as I say. You think I didn't know Lucas cheated last night?"
I stood up immediately "How did you know?"
"I had someone trail you to his place, that bastard was beating up and he has vowed to destroy you publicly, go get change so you can be ahead of him."
I stood there, unable to move, everything was going wrong, it felt like I was being moved without my permission, my fate had already been decided.
"Okay Father."I replied, my heart sinking to my stomach.
Chloe's POV "Your mission there is to get everything, every information I need, don't get too comfortable in your honeymoon phase."I sat up not believing my ears "what do you mean Dad? Isn't this supposed to be for a merger? You said it yourself, didn't you?" I asked confused."Don't act like a kid, I've shown you everything you need to understand in this business but you keep acting like a new comer, no one is actually your friend, you have to be alert always."Typical of my Dad, he had just woken me with his call to break it to me that marrying Grayson was for no merger, instead, he had planted me as a spy to give him information, report every financial decision they made. How low does he have to go? And what was he ready to exchange me for in pursuit of the success of his company?"I can't do that Father, it's bad enough that I have to be here till God knows when, now you're turning me into a mole? What if I get caught? Do you think Mr. Coleman would spare me?""Princess, you hav

As much as I liked the writeup, it wasn't as effective as I wanted because I had found her in the house."What are you doing here?" I asked, looking at the woman who I had thought would have walked out of the marriage last night."Watching a movie." She said and rolled her eyes."I don't mean what – what are you still doing in my house? You should be at your father's house by now if you really didn't want this marriage." I said turn off the TV.She turned to look at me, rage burning in her eyes "You think that rubbish you pulled off last night was funny? What did you do that for?""Maybe if you haven't gotten the memo, I need to spell it out for you, I don't fucking want this sham of a marriage and if you know what's go
Chloe's POVI was walking on burning coal. The walk to the aisle was one I dreaded, not because marriage wasn't something I liked but because my father was giving me away to a total stranger.I turned to look at him, walking beside me with a big smile plastered on his face. I have always wondered how he managed to do this; pretend like everything was fine when it wasn't."This one will be over before you know it and you'll be at home in no time." He said and tapped the back of my hand lightly."Home?" I asked."Your husband's house darling, you'll be just fine. Don't do anything stupid and we won't have any issues." He said, the whole time the smile was still on his face, one who didn't know would probably think it was a father reassuring his daughter.I sighed. We walked to the aisle. From a distance, I could see my "supposed " groom. He would have easily passed as my dream man but right now, his height annoyed me.My father stopped at the little stairs that led to the stage and walk

Chloe's POV"Your Engagement to Lucas has been annulled, you're marrying someone else."I was some seats away from my father's large study table but it felt like he had pierced a sword into my heart up close."What do you mean father? I just got engaged yesterday, you liked Lucas, is this a joke?""I wish it was my princess, this is for something bigger, you can't meet up with that man again, get ready for your husband." He said and continued going through the files on his table.Lucas had been my boyfriend for the longest time, he had met my family and heck, they've even complimented us on several occasions.I had gotten impatient when the proposal wasn't forthcoming, I felt he only wanted me for the good time but alas! He had gone on his knees the previous night and placed a diamond ring on my finger, was I supposed to throw all that away?"Father, you can't possibly do this, Lucas is my life." I said, my voice quivering. It felt like life has been pulled out of me, e
