CHAPTER 4: Ambushed

The wolves guided the three of them on their base. The way was so dark, however their eyes seemed like a bright light making the way be more visible to them.

On the other hand, the three of them were still skeptical to go the same way. They didn't know these wolves yet, even though they were their own pack as their grandparents were the leaders.

It's been some years since they last saw them, especially their grandfather who was rumored to be the most powerful Alpha, he managed to defeat the rogues and the one who took them to the battle, Nicolas Cruzvelt, their opponent many years ago to take a step back. However, he was enraged when he realized that his daughter had been killed.

"You are all here," a voice said.

The triplets looked at the person who spoke.

Ashleigh smirked seeing her. "Aunt Estella," she said. They didn't realize that they were already in front of a log cabin where a woman who was just a bit young at their father's age was standing.

"It's nice to see you again, my nieces." She smiled, however her eyes were still serious. "You are all now grown up women," she added while walking towards them. She looked at them one by one, and she can't help but to remember her sister because of their faces, they really look like their mother which made her smile sincerely.

"Yeah right," Vanessa uttered.

Estella stares at her, she is always getting annoyed whenever she hears about Vanessa's hobbies but she doesn't want to change them at all. She was aware of her nieces' strength and just wanted to make them realize to always be cautious of other people, especially to their opponent.

"You haven't changed yet, I know it. But what can I do? You are her daughter." Estella said, pertaining to her lost sister.

"I know right! Hm grandma, is this the cabin where we will stay tonight? I am already dying to sleep." Vanessa yawned and diverted her gaze at her grandmother who was smiling at her.

"Yes, the pack knew you were coming. They already prepared the cabin for you."

Ivory and Ashleigh nodded at first while Vanessa didn't waste any second and went inside the cabin which made the two of them look at her.

Ashleigh took a glance at her grandmother and apologetically smiled at her, however their grandmother laughed in response to what Vanessa did.

"I know all of you, and I understand it. Your father loves updating me about you." The old woman stepped forward and patted their shoulders. "You need to rest now, tomorrow morning you will be able to see the whole pack. Prepare yourselves," she added.

The two of them nodded at her and started walking inside the cabin. The old woman smiled seeing the three of them finally inside their pack.

"They all got Xanthea's attitude, right mom?" Estella said, smiling. The old woman nodded, and couldn't hide the fact that she was very happy because of them. It feels like her daughter is with them again.

"Did you already told father about this?" Estella asked her mother, who remained standing in front of the cabin.

"Not yet, I need to talk to him first about the plan."

Estella gulped thinking that her father would be furious when he knew that they were planning to train them for a battle.

"What would you do if he didn't agree with this?" Estella asked. The old woman's face remains serious.

"I know he will."

She looked at her mother's back while walking away from her, Estella knew that her mother could convince his father, which made her smile. Estella looked at the cabin once again before following her.

"They already left?" Ivory asked. Ashleigh nodded while looking at the small hole in the cabin. After they went inside the cabin, they saw that their grandmother along with their aunt was still standing in front of it, talking with each other, however they weren't so sure what they were talking about.

"Hey! Put your face away from mine!" Ashleigh whispered to Vanessa who was also trying to look at the hole.

"Why? I want to see if they are already gone," Vanessa replied and lightly pushed Ashleigh. Ashleigh then rolled her eyes at Vanessa who was looking at it now and then went beside Ivory, who's busy looking around the cabin. It was just a small log cabin in the middle of the forest, inside it was a small wooden bed but the three of them can fit themselves on. A small lamp and a cabinet.

"Can we sleep here tonight?" Ashleigh asked her. Vanessa went near them when she heard them talking.

"I miss my room!" She shouted and sat on the wooden bed. "I would not be able to sleep here, for sure."

"But you are the one who asked for it first." Ashleigh smirked.

"I just don't want to talk to that old wolf, duh! I am sure she will tell me things I don't even want to hear again."

"Are you pertaining to our grandmother or to Aunt Estella?" Ashleigh asked and chuckled.

"I think to the both of them." Ivory said and lay down herself. "Let's just rest for now, grandma told us to prepare ourselves for something tomorrow," she added, closing her eyes.

"Why do I have to suffer, it's not even worth sleeping for. This place is so small for me." Vanessa stomped her feet. "They didn't even give us food to eat first!"

"Shut up and sleep. Oh, another one, don't you dare sleep beside me." Ashleigh said and put her earphones on.

Vanessa rolled her eyes and went beside Ivory.

"You wish, I don't want to sleep beside you either," she replied.

IVORY'S POV:

I can't sleep, I know that there is something wrong here. I can hear someone's breathing outside this cabin, and I don't know who that person is. His or her presence is not familiar to me either. However, I am sure that he or she needs something from us.

I opened my eyes to observe, and when I did I saw my two sisters soundly sleeping.

The curiosity that was running through my head can't stop me from finding the person behind those small steps.

I took my gun and walked silently but fast beside the wall where I heard those, leading me outside where a tree was standing.

*crick*

The sound of dried leaves. I positioned my gun and was about to shoot whoever that person was when I saw him.

"Jake?" I asked to make sure it was him.

He looked at me and smiled, his face was so sweaty, an indication that he is tired.

"My milady," he said and still managed to bow his head even though he was stuck on something.

"Why are you here?" I asked him.

He smiled first and tried to go out from the trunk where he got stucked and stood straight.

"I tried to conceal my presence, but you still got me," he started and sat under the three. "I was told by your father to go here and look at all of you from afar. You know him, scared that something might happen to his daughters."

"Idiot, don't use my father and tell me your true objective on coming here." I said, knowing that he was lying. I heard him chuckle so I stared at his face more, I saw some bruises on his arms. It was deep. "What happened?" I asked.

"I got ambushed on my way back," he said. "I knew I can't fight them all, so I tried to run away." He added and then looked at me with a smile on his face.

I just observe him, based on his wounds. It was not a human who ambushed him, because if it was just a human, he would never run away from them. He was specialized on long range, but he can't fight that much if it's a face to face battle.

"Ha! Don't look at me like that, are you thinking that I was weak? Hell, no," he said. I laughed sarcastically because of it, I didn't even think about that but because of what he said, I think I will start thinking of it.

"You encountered the rouges." I told him, he sighed and nodded. Even though we are in a Mafia Organization, they were all aware of wolves' identities. They knew very well what happened in the battle many years ago.

I smirked and gestured to him to go inside the cabin. He looked at me first like it was so impossible for him to do it.

"Scared?" I asked. He smiled and stood up. He then followed me inside, once we got inside the cabin I saw Vanessa and Ashleigh faces, they were raising their brows but it changed with confusion when they saw Jake on my back.

However, their confused faces darkened, making them move fast.

"On your back!"
