Chapter Fourteen: The Interrogation

Daniel woke up at noon, saw the time on the clock on his nightstand, and wondered if there was still a chance to go to work. It was half past twelve, he had slept a lot and his body felt heavy. He got up reluctantly to prepare a coffee, when he was in the kitchen he heard the doorbell ring and, surprised, went to see who it was.

They were those two detectives, this time they were accompanied by two other policemen in uniform. He opened the door and faced them.

“Good morning, Mr. Ranlone. At your work they told us that you had not gone today”, said Roy. “Which is good because that way we kill two birds with one stone.”

“What do you mean?”

“We have a search warrant for your house,” Norma said, showing him a piece of paper and then handing it over. “We gave one just like it to your father and by now they must be searching the cabin.”

Roy signaled to the two policemen and they entered the apartment, beginning to go through everything. Norma went directly to the main room.
