"Out Out" I moved my mouth inaudibly, gesticulating my hand sideways in desperation while my panicking gaze remained fixed on hers. Then she shook her head and parted her lips to speak. "I guess he hasn't gone far ma.. that's why he must have kept his phone at home" closing her eyes forcefully and hoping that my Mom buy into the lie.

There was a moment's silence before my mom's voice finally broke out.

"Okay... I Just hope he's keeping good friends." She replied calmly with a surrendering sigh. I felt a bit relieved but kept praying in my heart for her to leave.

"I mistakenly forgot a document at home as I was rushing for work today, that's why I came back to get it" my mom concluded almost immediately. Then her heeled shoes made faint screeching sounds on the tiled floor as she turned.
