Chapter 22

Later that day, before my mom came back from work, I went to confront my dad in his room -- not in an insulting way, but rather, in a more remorseful manner.

"Dad?" I bellowed quietly as I stood in front of him. He sat leisurely on his bed, reading a sports newspaper. All his focus was on it that he barely rose his head to look at me.

"Mm-hmm... what's the matter, are you done with your childish display?" He said in a cold tone and slowly closed the paper. Then he placed it beside him on the bed and managed to look me straight in the eye.

I felt uneasy staring into his stern gaze, so I cowardly lowered mine and resolved in my mind to apologise.

"Am sorry dad for my outburst earlier this morning - I was feeling angry. It won't happen again." My voice was low and remorseful. I stood, my feets rooted to the floor with my palms clasped together in submission. I didn't really mean it, but I just had to fake it.
