Elara's POV

But just as quickly, everything changed. Another instinct—the ones fueled by grief, rage, and cold determination, whispered that I needed her. I needed what she knew. Information was power. And right now, I have none.

At this juncture, she had the upper hand and I needed to bring those hands down and place them in mine with whatever means I have.

Behind me, I heard Gomez’s footsteps. He stopped just a few feet away, tension radiating from his body like a heatwave.

"Elara," he said, voice low and warning. "Think very carefully. You don't owe her anything."

I was surprised to hear him say that because I didn't know that he could hear us given that he just got here.

"I know," I murmured, not taking my eyes off Clara. "Why are you doing this?" I asked her bluntly. "Why betray Kael now?"

Her mouth twisted into something bitter. "I am not betraying Kael, your Highness," she said. "I haven't even met him yet. I am betraying Lyra. And I believe you know that there is something bet

  • I AM BETRAYED BY THE MOON   Chapter 125

Author's POV Damian didn’t answer because Lyra was right. He had promised her all that. He just turned and stormed out of the study, leaving the door swinging behind him. The silence that followed felt louder than any fight. The air around Lyra crackled with disbelief. She stood there for several minutes, frozen in place, the words trying to gain Elara’s favor looping in her mind like a curse that is meant to suffocate her to death. Her lips trembled with rage. He used me. Both Kael and Damian. No matter what she does, it seems none of the men in her life would truly see all her efforts. Why is she so unfortunate? The realization punched through her gut like a blade. He never intended to keep any of his promises. And the fact that it was Damian whom she thought cared about her, made it even more painful. He wants to abandon her after she has done everything according to his plans and save his own ass. Get on Elara's good side? The words echoed again. Never would she bow to Elara.

  • I AM BETRAYED BY THE MOON   Chapter 124

Author's POV Lyra pushed open the doors to Damian’s private study, her heels clicking with a confident purpose against the marble floor. She found him by the liquor cabinet, nursing a glass of something dark, his jaw tense, eyes blazing with barely contained fury. He was angry, even his wolf was attesting to it from the way it's growling beneath him. Good, she thought smugly. He must’ve put Elara in her place. He must have taught her how to behave and now she would be able to get back her position at the company. She heaved a sigh of relief when she remembered all she went through from Mrs. Williams today. She can't wait to pay her and her coworkers back. They humiliated her, mocked her and dared make her serve them coffee! They would suffer and she would show them she was back—now stronger than ever. So next time, they would choose carefully where their loyalty lies between her and Elara. Smiling seductively, Lyra walked up to him and draped her arms over his shoulders, placing

Author's POV And I won't let you or anyone destroy it." He stared at her for a long time without saying a word. She is bold. He liked that. Because that would only cost her everything. He laughed darkly at her audacity. "Your father's sweat and blood? Let's see for how long you're going to keep acting that way, huh?" Elara didn't say anything. She wanted to bark out a reply that she would keep acting that way as long as she lives but she decided against it. She was too tired and saying that would just keep the argument going. She moved further into the room, opened the closet and picked out a sundress that she would change into after shower, then took her towel. She wanted to change away from the office attire but when she looked over her shoulders she saw that Damian was still staring at her. She can't change in his presence because of her now slightly obvious baby bump, so she decided to do that in the bathroom. As she took a step, Damian's cold voice stopped her. "I'm sti

  • I AM BETRAYED BY THE MOON   Chapter 122

Author’s POV Elara's fingers tightened around the knob of Damian's bedroom, and she pushed the door open. Elara stepped inside, her heels clicking softly against the marble floor, her expression was exhausted from all the work at the office and the pregnancy hormones were settling in making her weaker than necessary. Her eyes immediately fell on the two people inside — Damian, lounging near the window, swirling the glass of scotch in his hand, and Lyra, curled up on the edge of the bed like a lover waiting for comfort. When Lyra's eyes met Elara’s, she smirked triumphantly. Like someone who had just won a long battle. Elara rolled her eyes as she sighed in frustration. Of course, she had expected that Lyra would come running to Damian like her saviour but she hadn't expected it to be so soon. She had thought of coming home to rest for a while but it seems that has suddenly become a luxury that she couldn't afford. How did she get here so fast when it was just closing hours? Oh...

  • I AM BETRAYED BY THE MOON   Chapter 121

Author's POV The fury in Lyra’s face increased. “Watch your mouth, Mrs. Williams. Just because Elara humiliated me doesn’t mean you get to do the same. I won't tolerate any form of disrespect from you." Mrs. Williams watched her for a while, pretending to be afraid of her threat then she burst into laughter—the sound was cruel and mocking. “Oh no, sweetie. You did that all by yourself.” She stepped closer into the office, her eyes scanning Lyra. “Now, shut up and get to work unless you want me to tell Elara you’re disturbing the office and slacking off." Lyra opened her mouth wanting to bite back a retort but the words died in her mouth when she remembered Elara's words. She was already on her bad side, doing more won't do her any good for now. At least not until she tells Damian about everything. The laughter outside had grown louder. Lyra dropped her eyes and muttered, “Fine.” “Oh, and one more thing,” Mrs. Williams said, stepping back to the door. “Hand over the projects you

  • I AM BETRAYED BY THE MOON   Chapter 120

Author’s POV Elara's words echoed in Lyra's ear, sharp, clear and striking like thunder. She couldn't believe that Elara had become such a bold witch that even threats of telling Damian doesn't scare her anymore. What the hell has made her so bold that she was willing to go against the contract? And their initial agreement that no one knows about the problem between them. Lyra stormed down the hallway, her heels hitting the polished floor sharply. Rage coursed through her veins, and her breathing came in ragged, uneven gasps. Her well manicured fingers were curled tightly around the straps of her designer bag, and with each step, the humiliation seems to penetrate more inside her gut. She didn’t even wait until she was inside her office before she screamed. The door slammed shut behind her and her shriek cut through the air like a wounded animal. She threw her bag across the room, scattering the contents inside it, then shoved away an entire stack of files from her desk with a f

  • I AM BETRAYED BY THE MOON   Chapter 119

Elara's POV “I’ll tell Damian about this,” she hissed. I smiled, stepping closer. Did she still think I'm still afraid of Damian. I have nothing to lose anymore. “You can go to hell for all I care," I spat. "Go ahead and tell him everything. I’d love to hear what he has to say. I'd like to know how he intends on protecting you, you snake." She stared at me for a long time like she doesn't even recognise the person in front of her anymore. I titled my head forward, willing for her to see that it was the same Elara. The same woman whom they once ridiculed. The same woman who has once knelt down shamelessly before her. She shook her head. Then without another word, she spun on her heels and slammed the door behind her. I let out a long breath, pushing a few strands of hair away from my face. One woman down. Many more to go. I sat back behind my desk, revelling in the moment again. And I couldn't help but commend myself for a job well done. The next one on my list would be to see

  • I AM BETRAYED BY THE MOON   Chapter 118

Elara’s POV The conference meeting was like a tug of war. I made sure I studied the overview of every department's performance. And I realized most of them have been unserious with their Jobs, given the fact that no one had been around to oversee things and keep them on their toes. My heart broke. This was my father's legacy. He built it through sweat and tears and it's now being treated like it's some playground. It was even worse than a playground, because here, they were getting paid for practically doing nothing. I made sure to issue the affected departments strong warnings that I was going to fire them, cut down their wages or demote them if the performance didn't improve in the next month. I made sure to let them know I wasn't just bluffing and I was in charge now. Many of them were grumbling but Mr. Graham, he never talked all through the meeting, letting me take charge without disruption. But I could see the way he gave subtle nods, and smiled anytime I made a decision —a

Elara's POV Lyra. Her long coat was cinched tightly at the waist, I could see her slight baby bump. Her hair pinned in that perfect fake-girl-next-door style she loved and a bag was in her hand. She walked in like she owned the place. Of course, she would think that. She doesn't know who is in charge yet. I straightened in my chair, my eyes narrowing slightly. “What are you doing here?” I almost asked but stopped myself just in time. Right. I remember she started working here a few days before I stopped. Some head of the Sales and Marketing department. Instead, I leaned back coolly and asked, “Why are you late?” As usual, Lyra offered a dazzling smile, her voice sugary sweet. “I had a lot to handle this morning. You know how it is.” I smiled tightly. “Right. I’m sure.” She had thought that this was like in the past where I'd cover up for her. Where I'd pretend in front of everyone that we were friends. I even went as far as telling the Pack members that she was staying with me
