LIKE A SISTER

ELODIE'S POV

I slowly opened my eyes to the rays of the sun hitting my face. I let out a slight groan. I was so weak that I couldn't even get up from the bed. How long have I been sleeping?

I felt something warm and hard on my hand. I glanced over only to see His Majesty holding my hand firmly, his head resting on the edge of the bed.

Did he spend the night...beside me?

Memories of yesterday came flooding.

I hated rain since I was little; it was a constant reminder that in this cruel world, I was alone. While kids my age were busy playing out in the rain with either their friends or parents, I was locked in my room, watching them. I had no one to rely on, no one to pour out the heavy thoughts weighing my mind. Rainy days are my loneliest days.

But yesterday, for the first time, someone came for me and stayed with me through my loneliest day. While I was ranting with nothing I said made sense, he stayed and listened. He protected me from the cold and held me close.
