Ashley's POV

The sound of my palm connecting to Ella's cheek still rang in my ears as I vanished into the attached corridor. I didn't look back as I disappeared, my feet barely touching the floor.

Ella's gasp lingered, but was drowned out with the thrum of blood rushing in my veins at that moment. The strike had been brutal enough to temporarily blind her, and that gave me as much time as I needed to be out of her attention.

I followed the same route, retracing it swiftly, but not blindly. I was well aware of potential hidden threats, so I veered off at intervals, slipping into several side passages, doubling back and even pressing myself into alcoves. Any trail I leave would tangle into confusion, I made sure of that.

Then the cameras. They were everywhere–such cold eyes against the stone. I fucked low beneath one, timed the sweep of the another's lense before swiftly darting past them both.

The familiar passage lay ahead, the one that led to the unpopular part of the packhouse.

  • I Am The Alpha's Rejected Mate    Chapter 228

Ella's POVI could still imagine Jayden's infirmary room still heavy with the scent of long sex, it's air thick and warm like a summer storm. "Take care of yourself honey, and don't drain all the energy on the Alpha," my father had said before hanging up. We had spoken for long hours about our plans, rehearsing every single part of it in a light hearted manner until it got really stuck on my brain. Control. That was the word that danced most in my head, the one that always fueled all my moves. I had fucked Jayden again and again, and left him a spent, panting mess in his room. Yes, that was the control I yearned for. The moonlight spilled through the window, casting soft shadows across the room as I placed my phone back on the stand beside my bed. Even till then, father's voice still echoed in my ears, even the way he had chuckled when I told him about Jayden. As I relaxed on my bed again, my fingers once more reached between my legs as I touched myself. I imagined father's firm ha

  • I Am The Alpha's Rejected Mate    Chapter 227

Ella's POVThe air around the room was charged once more, the tension that crackled between me and Jayden being like a wild fire. His gaze upon me was sharp, but I didn't let it bother me. Instead, I let my lips curve into a knowing smile as I took steps closer to the bed. "Jayden," I purred in a sultry tone, "you look like you're not quite drained yet." His eyes darkened as he replied, "would you expect one burst from an Alpha?" I smiled, biting my lower lips a bit. "Well then, please accept my apologies." I noted the way his body tensed and his cock stirring once more behind the sheet. He truly, wasn't done yet. I took steps further towards him, climbing onto the bed and straddling him with a deliberate slowness that made him groan. I felt the hard planes of his muscles beneath my fingertips as my hands trailed down his chest. "I know you're insatiable, Ella," he growled, but without the tiniest tinge of disapproval in his voice. I felt his hands as it grabbed my hips, his fin

Ella's POV "Who is the hooded healer?" I asked Jayden one more, my lips curving afterwards into a slow, deliberate smile as I tilted my head. Then I let my hair cascade over my shoulder, and ran my tongue along my bottom lip. His eyes were fixed on mine through these moments, and I noticed the way he hitched ever so slightly. "Jayden," I purred in a voice low and dripping with honeyed seduction. "We mustn't play this game now, must we? You know I have my ways." His chest rose and fell with unsteady breaths as he stared at me, his body tensing beneath me. I could feel the heat already radiating from him. " What do you want with such information, my love?" he asked. "Like I said, she's just a healer who chose to put on a hood.""Who, Jayden, was she?" I pressed again, my voice tightening now, almost like a growl. Then I had a quick thought, and I asked him, "was it the same werewolf you chased earlier today?"His jaw tightened, but he shook his head. Then his voice came up, rough an

Ella's POVThe healer stepped in first, her presence breaking what seemed to be like a charge inside the room. I followed slowly, my hand brushing the edge of the doorway as I crossed the threshold. The High Elder startled the very moment his eyes met mine. But he masked it quickly–too quickly. I caught the flicker though, and my gaze sharpened and lingered on him far longer than I should have. Something had been said here. Something revealed. I felt my wolf stir uneasily. Could it be... the hooded healer? I stepped further in, my footsteps echoing softly. First, my eyes pinned the Elder, noting how he could not hold my stare. His gaze dropped just as briefly before it slid fully away. Then, I let my attention drift to Jayden. He didn't look up to my face. His head only remained bowed, more like the weight of all the spoken words from the elder before I stepped in hung on him like chains. I still wondered what they had spoken of as I crossed the room, letting my shadow fall acros

  • I Am The Alpha's Rejected Mate    Chapter 223

Jayden's POV The High Elder visibly faltered when I cut across him. His lips parted, closing again as his wolf rattled by my sudden interruption. But this lasted for only a breath before his resolve sharpened to place again, it's mask reforming as he straightened in his seat and tried to force his gaze back to meet mine. Unfortunately, this brief interruption from me seemed to done the opposite of my intentions. "What I say is truth, Alpha," he said, with voice getting steadier now, even though the faint tremor in his throat seemed to betray him. "There are just a few left around who still believe in you, my lord. Just a few who still cling to memory of your strength. This is most unfortunate." His words hung between us like pure venom that dripped from a fang. The way his face was lowered and he avoided my gaze only showed me that he reversed this line more than I could ever expect. Then, he turned to face me as he added in deliberate calm. "I must say... Liam is making a good lo
