A tense air filled my cabin.

Alpha Anka Hill had a conflicted expression on his face. The elders accompanying him kept their mouths shut.

Every werewolf knew that Liam Hill, the heir to Silver Moon Pack, had been poisoned by wolfsbane and was on the verge of death.

For a pack that depended on its Alpha to defend its territory, it was nothing short of a catastrophe.

Anka had come to me personally because of my unmatched healing abilities.

He had never expected me to refuse. That left him momentarily speechless.

That was when Liam suddenly stood up, pointed at me, and spoke in a cold tone.

"Evelyn, what gives you the right to refuse? Do you really think you're my only option?

"Well, I never wanted you as my mate in the first place!"

He clenched his jaw as suppressed fury burned in his eyes.

"She's nothing but a fraud! She's a so-called genius healer who made up all those stories just to get into Silver Moon Pack!"

"Liam, watch your mouth!" Anka yelled.

Liam's chest heaved violently. He looked like he wanted to argue further, but in the end he merely shot me a vicious glare.

Anka gestured for one of the elders to bring over an exquisitely carved wooden box.

"Liam's emotions have become unstable because of the wolfsbane poisoning. Please forgive his outburst, Evelyn.

"The entire pack knows of your extraordinary healing abilities. No poisoning has ever defeated you. You are our only hope.

"Inside this box is the Moon Goddess Relic, a sincere offering from Silver Moon Pack. Once you become Liam's mate, you will be appointed as the pack's chief witch. As our Luna, you will also stand beside Liam and lead the entire pack together."

I could indeed purge the wolfsbane toxin from Liam's body, but in this life, I refused to save him.

In my previous life, Camilla, the so-called genius witch invited by Silver Moon Pack, jumped off a cliff on the night of my marking ceremony with Liam.

Liam had loved Camilla with all his heart and blamed her death entirely on me.
