登入Third-Person POV
Reid was feeling anxious; surely Alison couldn’t really be mad at him; she was pouting at most. She was jealous and used to have all of his attention. The pencil in his hand snapped as he crushed it in frustration.
“She rejected all of my calls. Before, she would be so happy whenever I called her. Why is she still mad at me if I explained everything to her?” Ethan, who was with Reid at the office, then said.
“It might be because Ms Alison saw yours and Luna Britta’s interview last night.” He shrugged.
Reid thought to himself that this must be it. Alison was angry and jealous because she knew he’d been with Britta on their wedding anniversary. The following day he found her pouting in the living room. She had looked so adorable trying to stay mad at him, but he had only apologized profusely and covered her in kisses for her to forgive him. Reid breathed a sigh of relief; “I could explain everything, and Alison would surely forgive me.” Ethan only raised his brows.
Britta, who had been reading a magazine, lifted her head and smiled sweetly. She then walked towards Reid’s desk and clung to his arm.
“Come on, Reid, stop overthinking. She will only sulk for a few days, but once she has calmed down, she will be the first to call you.”
Reid pushed her slightly, feeling annoyed. “Britta, there are no cameras here. Don’t ever forget this is just a contract marriage with no emotional attachment. There is no need to be this intimate in private.” He stood up, putting distance between them.
Britta felt annoyed inside, but she didn’t rush things. Reid had already divorced that woman. She had already taken the first step toward success.
“Of course, Reid. You are right.”
“Well, enough sulking. Don’t lose focus on our goal. My Dad just texted me that our Cabinet Chairman Alpha Kane would be visiting the Red Moon today. You should seize this opportunity to visit Chairman Kane now and build a good relationship with him. Since this is his private schedule, it hadn’t been made public. But you know my father’s connections.” She said smugly.
Reid had originally intended to go see Alison right away, but with Alpha Kane coming, he couldn’t pass up this opportunity. Alison could wait. He wasn’t unaware that Alison was angry and upset, but she would never be able to provide him with the kind of connections and support in his career that Britta could. He was once again convinced that his decision was the right one. Once he had achieved his goal, he would be even more powerful than Morgan and publicly reclaim Alison as his mate. He could already picture her throwing her arms around his neck, sobbing cutely.
So when Britta slipped her arm through his again, Reid didn’t resist.
A smug smile curled inside Britta’s heart. She knew Reid better than he knew himself. She knew exactly what he wanted—power, status, and the respect of other Alphas. Once he stood at the top because of her, did he really believe he could abandon everything and run back to Alison?
Impossible. Reid had already made his choice, whether he wanted to admit it or not.
Reid let Britta link her arm through him and together, they arrived at the most luxurious hotel in this city. Alpha Kane was staying there and had reserved the entire top-floor restaurant.
“I’m sorry, Alpha Reid, but I have orders that Chairman Kane cannot be disturbed no matter the circumstances.” The Restaurant’s manager announced.
This restaurant, which could seat a hundred people, was now open exclusively to Alpha Kane and his guest. This was the kind of power Reid had always dreamed of. What a luxury.
As an Alpha, Reid was wealthy, but he wasn’t the richest person in the Red Moon Pack; spending over a hundred thousand dollars to reserve an entire floor of the restaurant was still too extravagant for him. But one day, he thought to himself. Maybe when he proposed again to Alison.
“I saw when they arrived; his companion looked beautiful. They surely look great together.” A woman who was standing with a male companion exclaimed, delighting in the gossip.
“It seems Alpha Kane is trying to win over a woman,” Reid whispered to Britta.
“Chairman Kane is 36 years old and the golden bachelor of countless women’s dreams. Who could this lucky woman be?” Britta exclaimed with a hint of jealousy.
Kane’s subordinates and bodyguards were stationed at the restaurant’s top-floor entrance to prevent anyone from disturbing the chairman and his guest.
The level of security was top-notch. “Perhaps today wasn’t the best time to pay a visit,” Reid said.
Just then, the woman inside spoke up.
Reid’s heart sank, and he could no longer take a step forward.
“Reid, we got to go.” Britta pulled his arm, but he remained still, his heart racing like a wild horse on the loose.
That voice- it was none other than his wife, Alison! He could recognize it among a million voices. His wife. His Alison. Dining with Chairman Kane.

Alison’s POVI spent the following days in my new penthouse. I wanted some peace, but Britta and Reid were all over the news, billboards, and all kinds of propaganda on TV. I was watching TV. The screen showed Reid and Britta being interviewed. Their love story was the highlight of the season. Reid was speaking affectionately to the media about his love story with Britta. “Britta and I had been kindred spirits since college; even after being apart for so long, I could never forget her. Britta was always the one who understood me best. She is my true love.” He said, kissing her hand. The reporter cooed as Britta melted in Reid's arms. The reporter asked, “What brought you back together, after all these years apart?” Britta giggled, eager to answer before Reid. “It was on March 10th of this year. I had been sick, and Reid dropped everything to take care of me all night. He did not want to leave my side for a second, totally disregarding everything else, even powering off his cell
Alison’s POV “I reject you for your own good,” I said calmly. “If you don’t mark Britta after you marry her, how can you gain the trust of others?” I tried to manipulate him the way he tried to manipulate me. Doubt still lingered in Reid’s heart; I could feel it through the mate bond. I was too calm; he expected me to still be pouting, to protest, to demand his attention. “Alison, I can’t accept your rejection. You are my fated mate. I have no intention to mark Britta.” Britta, who was enjoying everything until now, frowned. “I was going to make a fake mark on Britta’s neck. It’s just a fucking contract marriage; I will mark no other woman but my mate!” He snarled the last words, making Britta flinch. But then she added fuel to the fire. “Reid, do you think my parents are stupid? They will demand to see the mark. After all, each mark is unique, but it carries similarities with the ones of their ancestors. They would know, and when they do, your political career will be over.
Alison’s POV Reid’s beta, Ethan, reported that a large crowd of reporters had gathered outside. Was Reid going to go ahead with his plan right now? “It’s good that Ms. Britta is here already. As your future Luna, it’s good that our pack gets to know her.” Ethan looked at me with a hint of contempt. As the second-in-command of Reid’s team, he had long hoped that Reid would find a wife with more power and influence. Reid nodded, signalling Ethan to get everything ready. “Make sure everything is ready for tonight. Check the lighting in the Grand Hall and tell the Omegas to run all final details with Britta. Tonight has to be perfect. Our engagement will be broadcast, and I want all the most influential families to attend.” He was going to propose to Britta in public. I grabbed myself hard from the corner table, but I did not flinch. “Should we send an invitation to the Lycan King, Reid?” Britta suggested it sweetly. Reid paused thoughtfully, and a soft, crooked smile formed on
Alison’s POV On the very day I decided to tell my husband that we would be sharing a 100 billion fortune, he gave me divorce papers. I returned home, ready to share the good news with Reid; Reid’s bid for a cabinet position needed enough money to achieve it, and I was planning to support him with all I had. In my handbag was a document; all Reid had to do was sign it, and he would be entitled to my 100 billion fortune. My heart fluttered with anticipation. After three long years, I was finally going to reveal to him my true identity. Once he signed the document, I would have come clean to him. But when I walked through the door, ready to surprise him, I was met with a coldness I never expected. Instead of pulling me into his arms and kissing me like he used to, he kept his distance and silently handed me something.I couldn’t decipher the complicated emotions flickering across his face. But the moment I looked down at the papers in my hands, I had my answer.Divorce papers. My he
