LOGINAURORA
When I woke up again, I was alone in the packhouse. Well, not completely alone but Rowan and his mother had gone to my family home for the family dinner. I was shocked when the omega told me that. Rowan had never bothered to go to my family dinner since we got married.
In fact, the man had never set foot in my home since Vivian disappeared. Now, you can imagine how shocked I was to hear that he actually went. I thought he was just playing with me when he told me to ready so we could go together.
I was happy he went though, this year, he could be the one to answer their questions, to tell them why we didn’t have an heir yet. But who was I fooling? My parents would never ask him questions, in their eyes, their alpha was perfect, and I was the problem.
When I saw it was getting late, I made myself food and ate then went back to bed. “Aurora, this poison is dangerous, why don’t we go to the forest to get the herb. We won’t survive long if we don’t get it.” I wished I could, but I knew we were still being guarded.
“Did you see the warrior following us around when I went to the kitchen? Rowan asked them to keep an eye on me; they will not let me leave this packhouse without his permission.” Jess sighed. “I wonder why the Goddess gave us such a cruel mate.”
I didn’t answer as that didn’t require and answer from me, only the Goddess knew the answer to that. Í didn’t know when I fell asleep again but when I woke up, it was morning, and the sun was rising.
I sat alone by the window in my room watching the sunrise reminiscing about the sweet morning I had once shared with Rowan watching the sunrise. It was just few months after I returned home, Rowan and I were close back then. Maybe because I was the sister of his beloved Vivian. Maybe that was the only reason he was nice to me.
My thoughts were back to three years ago, Vivian was about to marry Rowan, but she suddenly came to me, complaining one day, "I don’t want to get married so young." She had pouted like a little girl, making herself look cute.
"Why don’t you marry him instead? " She had said. Her words shocked me, and I quickly shook my head refusing. "No, no, you two are a couple. If you don’t want to marry him then talk to mom and dad about it"
Vivian laughed, "Haha, well, that’s true. You’re way too dumb to deserve him." She used like saying such hurtful things to me like calling me dumb or stupid. Then laugh it off as if she were playing. I never complained as well.
Although I thought Rowan was very kind and had feelings for him. I couldn’t do that to someone who was there for my parents when I couldn’t. Rowan had always been gentle with me, teaching me to type and use technology when he had time.
We spent a lot of time together, laughed and joked together. In fact, back then, Rowan spent more time with me then with Vivian. But I knew his heart belonged only to Vivian. I could only suppress my feelings and act as his friend.
Who would have thought that just three days before Vivian’s eighteen birthday, she would suddenly disappear, leaving a note that read, "What I owed my sister ten years ago, I now return," followed by a streak of blood, and then no word from her again.
From that day on, Rowan was a different person. He no longer cared for me; even the way he looked at me was filled with resentment.
My parents were no different. They blamed me for Vivian’s disappearance, even saying, "We should never have brought you back!"
The broke my heart into a million pieces. They never wanted me to begin with. Yet I still had to obey, marrying Rowan on my sister’s behalf to maintain the family’s status.
Jess my wolf warned me again, "You have less than twenty-four hours to live."
At that moment, an omega came to deliver a message: “Luna, you mother wants to see you, she said to hurry.”
I nodded then sighed trying to remain calm. I picked up paper and pen and wrote a declaration to dissolve her mate bond and a divorce agreement. When I was done, I took the papers and went to my parents’ house.
*****
When my mother saw me, hatred flashed across her face so sharply it almost stole my breath. I wondered, not for the first time, what I had ever done to deserve that look from her — her own daughter.
She pointed a trembling finger at me and barked, “Kneel! Tell me why you didn’t show up for the family dinner! Did you fight with Alpha Rowan again, you fool?”
Her voice was cold and sharp as a blade. I didn’t kneel. I didn’t even look away. I just reached into my bag and handed her the divorce agreement I had written the night before.
The color drained from her face. For a heartbeat, she said nothing — then fury twisted her features.
“You are going to be the death of me,” she hissed, her hand shaking as she held the papers. She threw the documents onto the table, the sound loud in the quiet room. My father, sitting beside her, frowned and picked them up. When he saw the contents, his face turned crimson with rage.
“What nonsense is this?” he roared. “You dare humiliate your husband, your Alpha? You dare humiliate us?”
He slammed his hand down on the table, making the dishes tremble. “You think you can just walk away from your marriage like a spoiled child?”
I said nothing. They won't understand.
My mother stood, the fury in her eyes almost feverish. “Aurora, do you understand what you’re doing? You’re bringing shame to this family. Do you think Rowan will let you go that easily? Do you think the pack will respect a woman who abandons her Alpha?”
“I’m not abandoning him,” I said quietly. “He already left me a long time ago.”
My mother scoffed. “Because you made him! Always arguing, always defying him. No man wants a wife who acts above her place. You had one job — to be silent, to obey, to bear him an heir. But you can’t even do that.”
I met her gaze. “I’d rather die than live like that.”
“Then maybe you should,” she spat. “Because you’re already dead to me.”
She shoved the papers into my father’s hands and gestured toward me. “Show her what happens to disobedient daughters.”
My father rose to his feet, veins bulging on his forehead. “You ungrateful child!” he shouted, lifting his hand. I turned my head away, bracing for the blow.
But it never came.
A hand caught his wrist in midair.
When I looked, Rowan was holding my father’s hand stopping him from hitting me. He and Grayson were in shorts and vest. Covered in sweat, I could tell they were just coming back from training. With a frown, he asked, "What’s going on?"
DARIENI thought we had peace, I even thought as long as we kept things the way they were, we could keep the peace. Who was I fooling? Peace never lasts because there was always a moron like my mate’s brother who always caused unnecessary trouble. It was not that I didn’t want the man to visit my mother’s grave. The issue was my dad. The old man despised the former king for what he did to his family back then. He didn’t want him anywhere near my mother again. But the stubborn fool didn’t want to listen. He was going to get himself killed. why in the Goddess’s name would he hand over the king’s crown so willingly and refuse to let go of someone else’s mate? Even in death.“Look, if you continue doing this, then don’t blame my dad for retaliating and don’t blame me for taking his side. You have done enough to hurt the man, why continue to open old wounds?” I was exhausted. I wanted to spent time with my insecure mate and build a life with him. but how were we supposed to do that when he
ROWANIf I had not taken that walk after lunch, those guards would have killed the alpha king. He was badly injured when I got there. But hearing why he wanted to go out alone, my heart jumped to my throat. I couldn’t help but feel a chill running down my spine. Trouble was coming, Goddess! I thought we would have the peace longer. But nope, I was mistaken. The former alpha king had no intention of letting us have keep the peace we worked hard for. I glanced at Ulfred who was still looking in the direction his brother had disappeared to. “You know what this means, right?” he slowly turns to look at me and nodded. “What do we do?” he asked as if I had a solution. One thing was clear to me; the alpha king was not going to stop until he found that grave. Even if we wanted to hide it, when happens when he bumps to Darien or his father at the grave. Wouldn’t that be worse? “Do we hide this or…” I shook my head in the negative. “Even if we hide it, the people who saw it have already spread
ALPHA KINGI had just gotten out of the cave that used to be my beloved’s grave. They had buried her like they wanted, didn’t even allow me to go to the funeral. I didn’t even know where her grave was. I wanted to know where they laid her to rest but those cruel people didn’t allow me to send her off. so, what if I had years with her. who said I had my closure.I looked back at the cave before going out. I bailed my hands into fists, anger rising from the pit of my stomach. They wanted to move on, but what about me? didn’t I deserve to move on as well? Why did they have to leave me behind when they moved on. I didn’t want much, just to know where she was so I could visit her when I missed her. why deny me that?I walked around the palace that used to be mine, some places I saw I had never seen in all my years there. I was always confined to the front palace and the court room. no time to move around and get to such places. Everywhere I went, maids were happy and chatting. They didn’t
DARIENI wasn’t being petty or anything like that. But he and I had this conversation. I told him how I felt about Aurora. I didn’t know why my feedings for her were so strong either, but I couldn’t help it. I understood where he was coming from as well but how long were we going to talk about that? Aurora was back with Rowan and she was happy.I was with him and I loved him. Why couldn’t he just enjoy out time together instead of bringing that up? I had no control over it and maybe with time, those feelings would fade. “Why are you here alone?” my body stiffened and I instinctively folded my hands into fists. “I just needed some air.” He came and stood next to me. “Right now, I am the happiest man alive. I survived death, got my mate and son back. I am content.” I could tell from the way he was talking, the tone of his voice. He truly was happy. “I don’t have to warn you about not hurting her again, do i?” Rowan chuckled. “Do you think I am stupid? I am not going to do anything to m
DARIENThe party was in full swing, but the people were still not convinced. They had not said anything before but now that they had alcohol in their bodies. They got bolder, whispering amongst themselves. “They must think we are fools.” One said and the one next to him nodded in agreement. “Is it not clear that the Blood Moon alpha and the alpha of the Undead were the ones who defeated the alpha king?”“Yes, my thoughts exactly, but why did they lie and why did the alpha king go along with it?” they got bolder and bolder. No longer whispering anymore. That’s alcohol for you; it gave people bravery they wouldn’t have otherwise. “Exactly, why did he go along with it? I mean that is a kid, why did they have to name him the king?”The others who also had something to say joined in. “Maybe they couldn’t agree about who between them should be king. Then they decided to make the kid the king and his mother the regent. But in truth, those two will be the ones running the show in the shadows.
ROWANMy people had their moment; I was happy for them. I gript the flowers I held in my hand hard as I walked up to the stage. The moment of truth had come, Aurora smiled at me when she saw me walking towards her. But I felt like I was walking to my death, while another part of me was excited. There was no turning back now.The howl had stopped and I was sure all eyes were on me now. I could feel them boring holes on my back, am sure wondering what the hell I was doing. “It’s alpha Rowan, the king’s father.” someone in the crowd said and that fuelled my confidence. I was the king’s father, me, Rowan. A stupid moron was now the king’s father. How fate has played a joke on us. When I got to her, I smiled and handed her the flowers. Then went to Steven and took the mic. I thought he was going to find a dark corner and hide. I looked at everyone. “Evening, ladies and gentlemen.” The room fell silent. I looked at my mate; palms sweating and voice a bit shaky.“Tonight, I wanted to do some
DARIENThe air was filled with the stench of burning flesh and the metallic scent of blood. I staked the bodies so high and burned them. I burned them on neutral grounds between my pack border and that coward, Mike’s pack. I deliberately chose that place to send a message to the rogues. I was darin
ROWANThe drive back was a silent one. Being in that pack was nerve wracking and I couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there. The ghost alpha was nothing more than a powerful witch, his show of strength moving around with mist or clouds or whatever that was covering his feet making him look as if
STEVENHe threw my hand off him. “Fuck off!” he cursed, I was taken back by his outburst. I thought he was coming around. The interest he showed on the rogue case, wanting to go there with Mike and me. How he took charge when we got there, I thought I had gotten my alpha back, but I now knew that I
VIVIANI woke up early in the morning and prepared myself. I packed an overnight bag, took the car keys and left my room. When I got downstairs an omega was already there cleaning. “Tell my parents I will be back tomorrow.” I then left, got into the car and drove. There was a saying, if you want so
