Amber did not know why, but instead of a warm appreciation from Kaleb, she felt the surrounding air become cold. She gulped, and answered, “Ah.” She frowned, adding, “It’s never easy to please a child, and I did the best in my ability to do so.”

She chuckled and put a hand on her chest, saying, “I really love kids.”

“Has he even had dinner already?” Kaleb asked.

“Ah, no, but he ate these ridiculously expensive sandwiches with caviar -”

“So no dinner, yet you let him eat ice cream and two bars of chocolate?” Kaleb sought.

While Amber was thinking, Liam answered eagerly, “Yes, and I drank cola too, daddy! She said, she wants me to be her friend, and she wants me to give her time with you. That’s why Auntie Amber bought me a lot of treats!”

“She is so nice,” Liam said with a mischievous grin. “I want to spend more and more time with Auntie Amber.”
