The next day, I visited the street and like I had hoped, Alpha Kade visited too. Like Tim had requested, I had to make him walk down memory lane with him. I had to remind him of a happy memory we both once had. According to Tim, Selena might have carried out a memory loss ritual on Kade and I had to make sure I bright those memories back.

For the happy memory, I made cookies. I swallowed. To take Kade down memory lane, I had to do so and I could not help but wonder if I wanted to do so.

My mind

Days passed and soon, I became Alpha Kade’s favorite spar partner. I was happy with the new development but I needed more than just being Kade’s spar partner. I sighed at the thought. I was the only one who wished to be a consistent figure in his life. He probably had never thought about it.Especially now that he had forgotten a whole lot of his later memories about us. I shrugged. It was probably for the better. There was just a lot of tension between us when he still had his memories intact.Perhaps, but this was a chance to write a whole new chapter. Just that the uncertainty and wait was killing me. Sadly, I could do little to nothing about it. I just had to focus on my new role as the warrior of this pack. ‘But you want to be promoted from warrior to Luna so badly,’ I heard my wolf say. She was mostly always silent. Most times, I forget that I had a being whose thoughts were totally different from mine in my head. My wolf rarely spoke but whenever she did, I always get reminded

I woke up earlier than usual and sat on the edge of my bed for a moment, thinking about everything that had happened the day before.Torren’s face when he had been forced to repeat those words, Tim’s laughter and Alpha Kade’s smirk.I rubbed my face and sighed.“Get a grip, Lyra,” I muttered to myself.Still, I could not deny it. Seeing that smirk had warmed something in my chest. It reminded me of the old days. When Kade, Tim and I would sneak out after training and get into trouble together. Back then, Kade always had that same look when we did something mischievous.I shook my head and stood up.There was no time to dwell on memories.I dressed quickly and headed to the training grounds. When I arrived, the warriors were already there. Some were stretching. Others were sparring. The usual noise of the grounds filled the air.A few of them looked at me but not the way they used to. There was curiosity in their eyes now. And something else.Respect. “Morning,” one of the warriors sa

Later that day, I was called to the throne room. There, I met Torren, a few Elders, Tim and Alpha Kade.In sighting the stern faces Torren and the elders present, I knew that I was in trouble. The coward had reported what I had done to him. I raised my head up high. Torren had done worse. They had to punish him for the warriors he had injured and killed ‘accidentally.’I bowed my head in greeting to the Alpga, Beta Tim and the elders, acting like Torren did not exist in the room.“There she is. She made mockery of a warrior. This is why she wolves should not be warriors.”Tim scoffed. “All I heard from the story was that she whooped your ass and now you are whining like the brat that you are.”Torren made a fist but he dared not say a word to the Beta. “My Alpha, she should be punished heavily for what she did to Torren. She disrespected someone that would possibly be the head of warriors tomorrow. She should he punished for humiliating someone the masses see as a hero. Torren is one

Everybody’s attention were on us now. It was always that way whenever Torren wanted to spar with someone. They all expected a particular end and they definitely did not what to miss it.I smirked. Have they all forgotten that I had the Beta’s blood running through my veins? Betas were almost as strong as Alphas. And that I had trained alongside their Alpha when I was much younger. “Torren, are you seriously underestimating me?” I laughed. Was he trying to underestimate me just because of my gender?“Is that a yes?” He asked and then smirked. “Be careful with the option you pick. Your bodyguards are not here to protect you. Nepotism will not work when it comes down to actual strength.”I smirked. Well he should try telling that to the Alphas and Betas of packs. When it comes to strength, one’s family line plays a good part. They were other aspects though.“Of course. I will never miss whooping your proud ass for anything in the world.”“You have to give me your word though. That your b

LYRA’s POVIn no time, Alpha Kade’s court began to feel like home. Tim and I barely went home because I was interested in becoming one of the pack warriors. At first glance, one would think that I was doing so to get closer to Alpha Kade. Well, maybe a tiny part of me was doing so but I genuinely want to serve the pack.Initially, I was a bit hesitant, especially after Selene’s threats. I knew she was going to be a major problem but for the last few days, there had been no sign of any form of shenanigans from her. My daily activities were simple; have breakfast with Alpha Kade, my brother and even Selene, go to the training grounds to train with the other warriors and then back to my room. Every once in a while, Alpha Kade and I cross each other’s part and most of the time, we engage in a small awkward conversation and then go our separate ways. My face fell at the thought of how our relationship has been so far. I heaved a sigh. I probably just have to wait. Things might get better

SELENE’s POVThat night, I did not sleep. I was too angry to do so and without informing anybody, I left my chambers. The guards did not stop me. They dared not. The path I took was narrow and hidden. It led away from the main court and into the older part of the land. The hut stood where it always had. The smell of herbs and ash clinging to the air. I only had to knock once and the door opened slowly.“You’re late,” the woman inside said.I stepped in. “You should be grateful I came at all.”She smiled faintly. “I knew you would.”The door shut behind me.The room was dim. Candles lined the walls and bones hung from strings. I had stood here before. In fact, I had stood here too many times. “You said it would work,” I said immediately. She turned her back to me and poured something into a cup. “I said it would last.”“It is not lasting,” I snapped. She faced me. “Define lasting.”“My son looked at her today,” I said. “And he froze.”She raised a brow. “That does not mean he remembe
