An understatement

Even as Ashley saw Jason on TV, she was utterly confused. Had he been a celebrity? But he hasn't been in the city. When she saw that Louisa was also blushing and smiling from ear to ear she decided to go and wash up and later come back to satisfy her curiosity.

It is already 2:00 p.m., the time for them to get off work. Ashley wished to see her mom so badly.

"Here… '' Louisa stretched out her hand and handed over the fancy bag that contained Ashley's clothes, she did that as soon as she came out of the restroom. Louisa lingered around for her in front of the restroom door to wash up.

" That b*itch, I will pull out all her hairs next time " Louisa gritted her teeth and this made Ashley giggle.

"She is just lucky she came to our workplace otherwise she won't have a single strand of her remaining!" Louisa exclaimed and her eyes filled with disdain for Alexis.

Ashley grinned again " Thank you, Louisa, you have always stood by me. What am I going to do without you?"

With this, she entered the restroom again changed into her original clothes and Left with Louisa. They first visited the hospital. At least her mom seemed better than before but Ashley knew that time didn't have to be wasted any longer.

Ashley narrated everything that transpired within the two days to Louisa. How she allegedly married an old man to save her mom and it turned out that her husband was the old man's son and all the time she kept wowwing. but her face was filled with disgust over the personality of Ashley's family, especially her dad.

At a particular time, Louisa noticed a change of mood in Ashley's expression and she stretched out her hands and wrapped Ashley's palms " i'm here for you honey"

"I just pray I didn't make the wrong decision, I don't ever want to regret that I married into that family " Ashley frowned and let out a heavy breath.

" All I want is for my mom to be okay, nothing more. If anything happens to her, I might not forgive myself " Ashley finalised her words and stood up. They had been staying in a coffee shop after Ashley stopped by the hospital to see her mom.

Ashley suddenly remembered about Jason then she found herself sitting back in her seat. She didn't tell Louisa the part about Jason being her husband.

"Hey, I saw you engrossed in the news earlier, you were giggling and blushing." Ashley twitched her lips and pivoted her gaze from Louisa.

" Who?" Louisa questioned and stared at Ashley.

" You know the time I fell, I saw you… you were..". Ashley scratched the back of her head not knowing how to make her grasp the moment she was chattering about.

" Ahhh Jason?? " Louisa said, recalling the moment.

" Yes," Ashley nodded in affirmation.

" You don't know Jason?? The popular Jason?? One of the most handsome men in the world". Louisa sipped her coffee, Even though she exaggerated, it wasn't all a lie.

" What?! I have never heard of him." Ashley slanted her neck, trying to recollect, she couldn't remember anything.

"Oh I forgot, dear friend you were less interested in these things" Louisa tapped Ashley as she brought out her phone from her bag.

It didn't take up to two minutes and she went closer to ashley.

" See," Louisa pointed towards the phone screen as Ashley became engrossed in it.

" Jason was a footballer, though he wasn't all that skilled and played in a few tournaments. He is exceptionally handsome, oh my God so many girls would bow over to him, He is just like an Angel. "

Ashley didn't know why but she frowned on hearing that.

" That means he has a lot of girl fans?" Ashley rolled her eyes when she looked up to Louisa for an answer.

" A lot is an understatement, probably billions ? he has 700k followers on I*******m and over 600k were ladies dying to meet him…" Louisa didn't complete her sentence before Ashley interrupted her.

"What!" Ashley 's jaw dropped when Louisa said that her mouth went wide open. Maybe she is competing for the wife position with 600k ladies.

" Why, what? You seem so interested in Jason. Have you met him? Why did you suddenly ask about him? You were not interested in these things before." Louisa's ears went agape and the thirst for replies dominated her.

Ashley took her cup of coffee and gulped down, she may not have known but her cheeks were hot and red.

" Louisa, Jason is my….." Ashley's phone rang and it was her father, she picked it up.

" Ashley, I need you to quickly come over to the house.

" Are you finally giving me the money for the surgery? Ashley asked.

" yess, come over right away " jared replied and didn't hesitate to hang up the call.

" Who was that? Louisa inquired standing up from her seat when Ashley hurriedly packed her things to leave.

" Dad, he finally wants to give me the money for the surgery" Ashley beamed a smile. Her heart calmed a bit, he finally decided to give her the money.

" I should go before he changes his mind. I will catch up with you later. '' Ashley waved at Louisa and stormed off the coffee shop.

Ashley got to the house excitedly, she stepped in and saw her step mom and Dad at the dining table.

" Ashley dear, come and have a seat. '' Jared ushered her to come and have a seat at the dining table.

That was odd. Ashley momentarily got a weird feeling. What was he up to?

The dinning table was set up with different kinds of meals and Elena sat there grinning widely.

Ashley wasn't having any of these things, so something is probably not right.

Regardless Ashley made her way to the dining table and sat down.

" Eat up, honey, " Jared uttered as he cut the tail part of the grilled mackerel and passed over to Ashley's plate of Rice.

"Yes, please eat plenty of rice it makes one's brain to be healthy " Elena added while she also passed her the juice.

Ashley just sat there without moving. Their sudden friendliness irritated her.

" Dad, I'm here for mom's bills" Ashley blurted out because she wouldn't play along with whatever they had planned.

" why don't you relax and have your food, your step mom put in a lot of work to make that for you " jared glanced at Ashley and adjusted his glasses.

" I'm not hungry, and I don't want to eat, what do you want from me? Otherwise I might have to take my leave " she stood up and tossed her hand bag over her shoulders.

" wait…. Relax, aren't you taking the money again?? Elena uttered and smiled.

" Dad, are you giving me the money or not, I don't have time for jokes okay" Ashley coldly said without giving them a face. She didn't know what prompted their impulsive kindness but she just wanted to get the money and leave.

" Follow me, " Jared stood up and started moving towards his room.

When he saw that Ashley wasn't following him. He asked

" Are you not coming? "

" I can wait here though, " Ashley replied sternly.

"You should follow him if you want to get your money, " Elena said. She began to sound like a nice person.

Ashley smirked, their drama was becoming too much but if following her father would actually make him give her the money, it wasn't a problem. It was solemnly her goal.

She walked after Jared and stood near the door as he went inside to get the acclaimed money.

He wasted time and Ashley couldn't stand it any longer.

" Dad, are you coming?! " she shrieked, glancing through her watch. It was already 6:30pm. She is said to have reported to Elrod's mansion.

Her phone rang, the moment she opened her bag to get it, a man dressed all in black covered her nose with white handkerchief and she lost consciousness.
