Clara’s POV

My phone buzzed for the third time this morning.

And it was quite concerning.

I've been getting more and more email notifications lately, following the launch of my startup company.

—congratulatory messages, business offers, proposals. It’s been a steady inflow, and it was overwhelming in the best way possible.

I glanced at the screen of the phone on the table, confirming yet another email notification.

Exhaling a shaky sigh, I reached forward and picked up the phone, scrolling through the notifications.

I opened the email to a message from an investor asking to meet with me. Probably another offer or proposal.

“Good news?”

I slowly lifted my gaze to Edward, who sat across from me on the table, scrolling through his phone as he ate.

I heaved another sigh. “I guess. It’s a message from another investor, wants to meet.” A small pause. “I think this is the sixth one today.”

He lifted his gaze to mine, his lips pulling into a smile. “I told you this would happen, didn’t I?”

Clara’s POV The interior of the building sparkled like gemstones. Soft, yellow lights glistening in every corner. The bold, elegant, lighted inscriptions of the brand name equally gleaming. Unmistakably mine. I had to give it to whoever had done this interior decor. They had definitely brought their A-game. I could barely contain the excitement that danced around in my chest as we walked to the event hall, where everyone was gathered. I own a company now. It was real. Not a dream. As we got to the double-way entrance, Edward gave my wrist a slight tug and pulled me into his arms, his palms going to smooth over my hair. “Remember,” he started in a low voice, “you’ll do great. And I’ll be right here,” he added, with one final squeeze, and I let go with a smile on my lips. “Thank you.” “Ladies and gentlemen,” the event host’s voice rang out from behind the doors, loud and giddy, “join me as I welcome, Luna Clara, the chief executive officer, and founder of our newest

Clara’s POV I stood in front of the mirror, my eyes running over my reflection that stood pristine in an emerald green dress, my fingers smoothing over it, pleased with how gorgeous I looked. I ran my palms over the barely visible bump, my eyes as sparkly as the dress. Edward had insisted I wear the dress, as the color suited me, and blended perfectly with the color of my eyes, so I had no other choice. It was kinda heavy, but insanely beautiful. Today was the day. The launching of my company. I breathed in slowly, trying to calm the raging flutters in my chest. Would everything go according to plan? Would I do great? Would people turn up? I was excited and nervous at the same time, and it made me jittery all over. “Thinking about the launch?” Lydia’s voice penetrated my thoughts from behind me, and I sighed, pulling my gaze up to meet hers in the mirror. She was arranging the strands of my hair escaping from the neat bun on my head, intently focused and still someho

Nate’s POVI pulled up to the address Cain had texted me earlier, my nerves all over the place.I didn’t even have the time or luxury to be embarrassed about my jittery nerves, because my entire life and reputation was currently at stake.I never thought a day would come when I would be under such duress because of a fucking blackmailer. Why did everything have to keep going south?I made sure I parked the car a few blocks away the designated meet-up, somewhere perfect for watching the street without being seen. The street was quiet, disturbingly so.Remaining behind the wheel, I swept my eyes across the length and width of the street, corners they could reach, observing. Knots of tension and anxiety twisted deep in my stomach, and I adjusted every now and then on the seat.Only moments ago, Cain had assured me everything was going to be okay, but I couldn’t quite shake this feeling of the calm before the storm.I’d closely followed his instructions to remain calm and level-headed, bu

  • I Married An Alpha After Divorce   Chapter 125

Edward’s POV I walked into the room where the man we’d captured was being kept and tortured, my eyes taking in his bloodied frame. Jack was the man that had tried to kill Clara and Lydia, and he has refused to spill the name(s) of who had sent him. No matter how much he’d been beaten and battered, he’d remained mute and only continued to plead incoherently. Immediately, my shadow fell on him in the single-window room, he lifted his head and saw me standing there, cowering back in fear and visibly trembling. I stared hard at him, my jaw set in a grim line. Why is he so scared if he isn’t willing to talk? What is he ao afraid of? Who is he so afraid of? Perhaps he was holding onto something… holding back something… Rolling up my sleeves, I beckoned to the men standing outside the room, and they entered immediately. “Shave off his head,” I ordered, nodding towards Jack, who started to whimper pathetically, shaking his head. “No, p-please,” he cried, trying to scamper backwards.
